  1. Place of birth, like Director ID, is a field that is important for any individual clients who are company officeholders. Rather than having to keep this record in an external software, ideally we would have all the information about a client in one place, and as such, would appreciate a "PLACE OF BIRTH" field somewhere in the client record to facilitate this.

    Hi team, Xero Partner Hub was recently announced at Xerocon and will bring with it a whole heap of great changes we know our partners have been wanting to see. When building this, our team paid great attention to what our partners had been asking for in Product ideas and I'm pleased to share that within the new client experiences there will be a new field for Place of Birth on a Clients record. 😊 We appreciate your support through the product idea forums and will keep you updated as this rolls out.   2. The ability to bulk update staff access to client tax returns in xero tax. Currently, the only way to change staff access to certain clients in the xero tax feature is to go into each client file and change it individually. A bulk update function would be more efficient and less time consuming.

  3. XPM Staff permission - Practice Administration Permissions: You shouldnot have to give a staff member access to the full business setting menu to be able let them access the PLS/ELS reports. There should be a PLS/ELS Management only permission.

    I want a staff member to be able to access the PLS/ELS reports without being able to access other staff member information or having access to all my practice setting.

  4. Whilst this currently auto calculates, there is no calculation in Xero to confirm the return has the correct amount. This has to be checked manually, which can leave room for errors and requires extra work by users. It would be more efficient if the system could check this.

  8. Ability to complete the 'NRIDRAR - PAYG withholding from interest, dividend and royalty payments paid to non-residents – annual report' direct from Xero

  9. There should be the option to show the tax estimate (i.e.: calculation page) for companies on the front page of the tax return instead of being buried within the body of the report.

    For a lot of clients the first page is what they are really interested in (calculation of tax payble/refundable).

    Having the flexibility of being able to change page ordering within Xero Tax without having to do it manually would be helpful.

  11. It would be useful to have two dates for recurring jobs - one on which the recurring job is generated and a second date for when the work is to be started. We like to have all of our annual jobs generate on 1 April so we can easily see what work is outstanding for the year, received or not, but we obviously can't start everything in April. The planning aspects of XPM would be more useful if we could set the jobs to generate on 1 April then input a start date of when we are likely to start…

  12. When we send out an Activity Statement, a tax return, an fbt return, etc... is it possible to CC another contact? (one that isn't required to e-sign but is required to see the return and payment information and just be kept in the loop in general)

  15. It would be good if we could update client info changes such as change of address or bank account changes directly in Xero that would then update on the ATO Portal. Having used this in another accounting package, it is an extremely efficient process that make sure the client info is updated at both sites. Making these changes directly through the ATO portal gives no (or very little) audit trail.

    Hi Jo, thanks for sharing this great idea for improving practice efficiency. We understand how valuable a better audit trail and a more streamlined process would be for keeping client details up-to-date.

    We've reviewed your suggestion to have client information updated in XPM, such as addresses or bank details, sync directly with the ATO Portal. This idea is now ready to gain support from other community members.

  16. Currently in Xero Tax, non-depreciable assets entered into the rental schedule do not roll forward into future income tax returns (ITRs), creating unnecessary manual data entry and inconsistency.

    Suggested improvement: Add support to roll forward non-depreciable assets (such as land) within the rental schedule when generating the next year’s return to maintain asset continuity and save time.

  17. Account number to be synced to XPM from Xero. This unique account number/code is very useful and would be great to be automatically synced. Further, if, just like in Xero, it is a set field in XPM that notifies you when you are duplicating a code that has already been used for another client.

  19. Allow mapping of tracking categories in Xero Tax.

    Xero Blue is better catered for tracking category use as opposed to subaccount creation, however, tracking categories from Xero Blue are unable to be mapped in Xero Tax. Therefore, manual entry is required to populate multiple schedules in Xero Tax.

    Example:
    • Client has two Rental Properties, therefore will have two Rental Schedules in the ITR
    • Income from both properties is mapped to a singular GL Account ‘Rental income’
    • The Income in Xero Blue file is segregated by tracking category option, e.g.
    o Tracking Category: Property
    o Category Options: Property…

  20. The entire workpapers function is inefficient and burdensome. It would be much better to have packs carry forward when creating new packs so that you don't have to add all the notes and work papers back each time. When you roll a work paper pack, having to check & uncheck all the irrelevant sections is a waste of time that would also be alleviated by just being able to roll the prior period pack. The ability to use excel sheets with linked data to the accounts in Xero would be greatly beneficial. Another aggravating and time consuming issue is not…

    Hi team! We're happy to announce that the ability to roll forward existing workpaper packs, URL's and Notes is coming with our new Xero Workpapers. This new solution leverages permanent documents, and has improved data preservation to help minimise the manual rework each year, and get a head start with rolling over key information from previous years.

    We're planning ongoing enhancements to this new solution to ensure your workflow is robust and intuitive. We're starting release to our Australian partners now, and other regions will have access from early 2026. We'll keep you updated as the launch for this goes wider.
