Edit Link - Not Delete Right Away
Whenever a link is attached in Xero Workpapers, and that link changes or gets deleted, there should be an option to simply edit or replace the existing link — instead of having to delete it and add a new one each time. The current process causes unnecessary delays when preparing workpapers.
1 voteHi team, I’ve got some updates on the Edit Link - Not Delete Right Away feature for Xero Workpapers. This is a confirmed feature for the new Xero Workpapers solution and is currently in development as part of the new Workpapers solution being developed in partnership with BGL and in the upcoming roadmap. The goal is to address a major workflow pain point that was raised directly from customer feedback. The plan is for a phased rollout, starting with Australia in FY26, Updates on the release will be shared through the Xero blog as we get closer to launch. This feature is part of a broader set of improvements focused on enhancing review, collaboration, and compliance within the new platform. ⭐

XPM - show Annual Leave for Practice staff in XPM
For annual leave, sick leave and unpaid leave - have a link between practice payroll and XPM timesheets for practice staff.

XPM - Job format
It would be helpful if you could move the job information sections into any order (and this is default for all jobs & Clients). The main focus when we open a job is to review the tasks and these are way down the bottom. At the very least the default job information layout could be that all the sections are closed and you can open the section you want without have to scroll down all the time.
1 voteHi Sally, thanks for sharing your thoughts on the job layout in Xero Practice Manager. We appreciate you explaining how quick access to task information is for your workflow. We're updating this idea to In discovery, which means our product team is reviewing the viability of your suggestion and exploring whether we could implement changes to the job format that better support your needs. We'll keep you posted as we learn more.

Xero Tax - Title in uppercase
Currently the Client Title on a printed or downloaded tax return shows in all uppercase even though the fields in XPM & Tax are proper case. Would like this to be an option to choose so that the text is consistent eg either all uppercase or proper case.
1 voteHi everyone, thanks for sharing your feedback on formatting consistency in Xero Tax. The community team have reviewed this idea and it's now moved to Gaining Support, which means it's open for community support through votes and comments. We’d love to hear from others about how important this formatting option would be for your practice. Your continued engagement helps us understand which improvements could make the biggest difference for accountants and bookkeepers using Xero Tax.

Xero Tax AU - Thin Capitalisation Reminder
If interest expense in Item 6 is over $2M, Xero Tax should remind preparers to consider thin capitalisation rules.
Reduces risk of oversight on large returns.
1 voteHi Zoe, thanks for sharing this idea about adding a thin capitalisation reminder in Xero Tax AU. We appreciate you highlighting how an automated prompt could support tax preparers when interest expenses exceed the $2M threshold. We've reviewed your idea and it's now moved to Gaining Support, which means it's open for community support through votes and comments. We'd love to hear from others in the community who might benefit from this type of compliance reminder, so please continue to share your thoughts and vote if this resonates with your practice needs.

Put hyperlnks back in jobs
Previously when a job was created in XPM from ignition, a hyperlink was created to the proposal inside the XPM job. We always click this to access the proposal and issue the invoice when finalsing. This link is now converted to plain text which requires either copying and pasting or opening ignition and manually browsing to the proposal.
Would be great to have this functionality restored.1 voteHi Tina, thanks for confirming that you are looking at the new Partner Hub experience with this Idea.We really appreciate your feedback around this previous functionality and we have moved this Idea to Gaining Support. Make sure you share your idea with any colleagues that this could benefit so they can add their vote too! Our Product team will be looking at these Ideas closely.

XPM - Client group filter members
Please add a column or filter to the XPM Job Manager screen for client Groups. There is currently no column/filter for client group in the job manager screen in XPM - which means if you want to see all the jobs for a client group - e.g. Alf Barbagallo - have to search each entity individually. Also means cannot easily do a bulk update for all jobs in a client group.
1 vote✨ Appreciate you raising this, Julie! We understand how adding a client group filter to Job Manager would speed things up and cut the back-and-forth. In the meantime, a quick workaround: press Ctrl + F (Cmd + F on Mac) and type the client’s name into your browser’s search box to jump to matching entries on the page. Your idea is now in gaining support, so it’s open for votes and comments. If you can, please share it with colleagues who’d benefit—more support helps us gauge impact and prioritise what matters most.

AU Xero Tax - Distribution to Beneficiaries with manually updated names flow
We have some companies and trusts with characters such as hyphens in their legal names. However, Xero Tax does not allow us to distribute directly to these entities due to these characters in their names.
Our current work around is entering the beneficiaries' details manually, but then the distribution does not flow directly to the beneficiaries' returns.
I think this may be a ATO limitation. However, in other tax programs I have used, I was able to use an alternate name so the distribution could still be directly linked to the beneficiaries return. I would like a similar feature in…
1 vote✨ Hi Chloe — thanks for taking the time to share this idea.We appreciate the practical suggestion to support an alternate name approach while keeping the correct legal name on file. We have moved this Idea to Gaining Support so we can gauge customer sentiment across AU Xero Tax and connected areas.
Please keep the conversation going and encourage colleagues to add context, this helps us prioritise the right improvements for partners and practices.

BAS Installment Activity Statement - ability to unlock and load, and complete before due date for selected clients
Ability to complete activity statements before the end of quarter, or at least be able to unlock and load IAS's of select clients that we know have zero balances to submit.
1 voteHi Tania, thanks for sharing this idea. We appreciate you explaining how early submission of activity statements could streamline your workflow, especially for clients with zero balances. As you know, at the moment, Xero only supports lodging activity statements for the periods as they’re issued by the ATO, and we process statements in order to align with those obligations. This approach follows ATO-provided due dates and period availability, which are fixed by the ATO and surfaced in Xero to help you stay compliant. This idea has been moved to not in Pipeline as this is not something we are looking at currently. The Idea will be open for votes though and we will keep monitoring it. Thanks again for taking the time to share your suggestion with us and the community.

Secretarial Functionality - Beneficial Ownership
Put all CIPC related applications in a separate secretarial Application. Beneficial Ownership has nothing to do with Tax, and I don't do tax so can't use Gatekeeper but I advertise Beneficial Ownership a lot and use a good, priced Beneficial Ownership submission to get my foot in the door and then try sell the client on Xero. You could also look at submitting Annual Returns to CIPC out of Xero as you have the clients Company registration number as well as their turnover.
1 voteHi John, thanks for bringing this idea to us. We appreciate the explanation of how beneficial ownership submissions fit into your business approach. However, this suggestion and it's now marked as Not in pipeline, which means it isn't on the foreseeable roadmap at this time. We'll keep this idea open for votes so we can continue to gauge community interest. Thanks again for contributing to the conversation 🙏.

Practice Manager - Popup showing key client information
I propose introducing a pre-profile pop-up in Xero XPM to provide immediate access to critical client information, including linked contacts, billing references, and direct hyperlinks to individual contacts. This feature would also allow for the configuration of custom reminders, ensuring that key client details and actionable prompts are prominently displayed to enhance staff efficiency and client service.

Partner Program - Suggestion for reinstating local monthly Partner networking calls
When I started with Xero, we had a lovely monthly Zoom call with local Xero Accounting & Bookkeeping Partner Practices. Topics would be presented, but also we would exchange ideas for best use practices and workarounds and how to leverage Xero tools. We could discuss troubleshooting and compliance, etc. It was a great way as a business owner to network with other Xero-focused practices in my area, support one another, and share information. It would be great to see these come back one day!

AU Tax - 15 Year Retirement Exemption in CGT Worksheet
When you select option "D" at "Have you applied an exemption, rollover or additional discount?" of a CGT worksheet, the return should automatically grey out/disregard discount as a CGT method because you cannot discount a capital gain if you are using option D which is the 15 year retirement exemption. At the moment it automatically discounts the gain and causes an error which does not explain that you need to change the gain to other
1 voteHi Kelly! Contacts/Practice Manager - Make Client Account Reference Visible and Searchable on Client Screen
On the client screen please add the facility to show the client reference and be a field that we can search on. Otherwise what is the point of the field.

AU Tax - Improve reporting for share acquisitions and disposals
For the capital gain worksheet, it can't enter the number of the shares sold and bought. Most of time, the shares sold and bought will operate in different time during the year, it is more efficient to have the number shares match between sold and bought figures.
And also can transfer the worksheet to another partner is they are 50%, reduce time to enter again.
1 voteHi all, we can see how improving the capital gains worksheet in Xero Tax could really streamline things.
At the moment, there's no way to enter the number of shares bought and sold separately, even though these often happen at different times. Being able to match share quantities across transactions would make reporting more accurate and reduce manual checking.
We've also heard similar feedback around shared ownership. A suggestion to allow copying or transferring the worksheet to another return has already been raised and is gaining support. We've added your vote to that idea to help show how useful it would be.
This idea is now in Gaining Support. If this would help in your workflow, feel free to vote or share your thoughts in the comments.

XPM - Report for Prepayment or Miscellaneous Invoice
Hi there, we would like to have a report in XPM to show all the invoices. This would include the normal invoices and prepayment invoices(miscellaneous invoices).
1 voteHi Martin, thanks for sharing this idea! We totally get how useful it would be to have a dedicated report for prepayments and miscellaneous invoices in Xero Practice Manager. It could save time, cut down on errors, and make reporting a lot easier.
Right now, there’s no built-in option for this, and we know the manual workarounds aren't ideal.
This idea is in the Gaining Support stage — so if this matters to you, we encourage the community to keep voting and sharing their inputs! Your feedback really helps us shape what comes next.

Xero HQ - Restrict Access to Specific Client Groups by User Role in HQ
It would be great to have a feature that allows users to group clients within their HQ (or the main dashboard) in a way that only selected users with specific permissions can access certain client groups. This would provide more granular control over who can see and manage specific clients, making it easier to manage access for teams working on different client accounts.
This would be especially helpful for firms with multiple teams handling different types of clients (e.g., accounting, payroll, etc.), ensuring that only relevant team members can view and work on certain client groups.
Potential Benefits:
Improved data…
1 voteHi Rumyana, this is a thoughtful idea, and we can see how having more control over who can access specific client groups in Xero HQ would be useful, especially for firms with different teams handling various services like payroll, BAS, or advisory work.
The idea has been reviewed and is now gaining support, which means it’s open for others to vote and share how this would help in their practice. As support builds, it helps give the product team a clearer view of the need across different types of firms.
If there are particular scenarios or workflows where restricted access would make a difference for your team, feel free to add those as a comment. The more context we can gather, the better positioned the team is to understand the real-world impact.
We’ll keep an eye on how the idea progresses from here.

Xero Sign - Automated Notification of Xero sign Bundle Expiry
Automated reminder for Xero Sign Bundle expiration
I have just been caught out again with expiry of unused transactions in my signing pack of 150. Instead of being cut off at expiry date or having to remember to go and look it up could there just be an automated reminder. Also, for us small sole traders it would be great to have smaller bundles than 150, even 50 at a time. Even better, why not let us use all of our transactions we have paid for. Still need an automated message that they have expired.1 voteHi Angela, thanks for letting us know an automated reminder for your Xero Sign bundles would be a huge help, and we really appreciate you bringing this idea to our attention. For now, the best way to stay on top of your usage is to manually check your remaining transactions and the expiry date in Xero HQ > Xero Sign. A good workaround is to set up your own calendar reminder 🗓️ to check in on your bundle regularly. This will help you avoid any last-minute surprises. Right now, an automated notification for expiring Xero Sign bundles isn't on our immediate roadmap. However, your feedback is incredibly valuable and helps us understand which features are most important to you. We'll be sure to keep you in the loop on any changes to the status of this idea. 🔄

Milage claims - GST on business kilometres
The ATO allows businesses to claim the GST on cents per kilometre based on the business Kilometres travelled. The Milage claim in Xero currently does not have any tax category which means milage claims aren't showing on the GST reports and have to manually added to the BAS otherwise businesses are missing out on GST if not added manually.
For example, If staff travel 100kms for business, then the claim should reflect the following
100 kms x rate of 88cents (FY2026) totalling to $88. the $88 is inclusive of GST of $8.1 voteHi Camilla👋, we understand the importance of being able to track and claim GST on business mileage and appreciate you letting us know this functionality isn't available within Xero. We know that not having this feature causes extra work to manually calculate the GST on mileage claims. While we don't have this feature at the moment, we’d like to acknowledge the workarounds of manually calculating the GST component of the mileage claim and entering this as a separate line item when processing the expense claim. We understand this isn't ideal and adds extra work, but it may help for now. We're still actively monitoring this idea to see how much support it gets from our customers 👀. As always, we'll continue to provide updates as we have them. Please continue to share your feedback and vote for the idea! ✅
