  1. Is there an easy way to create/run reports tailored specifically for charities or is it just me that I am finding it difficult to find ? I've got the charity set up as a non-for-profit organisation which doesn't seem to make much difference at all.
    It's disappointed to see Xero doesn't have any reports templates for charities.
    Executive report cannot be overtype as needed - It's not possible to change "Profit (Loss)" line within profitability to Surplus/Deficit.

    Regarding Current Year Earnings, it isn't currently possible to rename this to current year funds, or to code manual journals from this to…

  2. Audit trail to see who has created / amended / deleted custom reports. We had a situation where a report was deleted and unable to identify who had inadvertently done this.

  3. Xero workpaper functionality that can connect to more than one Xero file to reconcile inter-entity loan accounts, or confirm rental income and expenses, or Div 7A interest and expense, etc.

    Eg: Debit loan in Company A, Credit loan in Trust B - can link both totals to see at a glance the loans match on both debit and credit sides.
    Entity A pays related-party rent to Entity B - link B's income and A's expenses to see at a glance that the amounts are correct on both sides in both files

  5. Workpapers to run for periods (not just years) and for periods ending not on a month end.

    The majority of my clients have a year end with 5 April. At the moment i would only be able to run the work papers to 31 March. I also have other clients with year end dates throughout the year.

    In addition to this, I can only run the workpapers for a full year. What happens if a business ceases. Often we need to run a set of accounts, and therefore workpapers, for a shorter/longer period.

  7. Ability to add multiple email addresses for tax payment letters.
    This would be great if looked into very soon.
    We have been manually entering additional email addresses which is a bit of a worry if a character is misspelt.
    When copy and paste is used the changes get made to all clients and is a real disaster.

  8. We work in small teams and it would be great if we could get a "Staff" drop down added for the client set up. So we could know the partner on the account, the lead accountant/manager and the staff member that works on the file so we know who to approach for various issues :)

  9. The current livestock schedule in trust tax return (and probably others) is insufficient.

    We calculate livestock on Market Value in the Financials and inset these figures into the Tax Return, then use the Reconciliation area to bring it back to Average Cost.

    This worked perfectly fine in MYOB Tax, as we could overwrite the average cost calculation in the livestock trading schedule. However in Xero Tax we can't overwrite the closing stock value.

  11. Following the XPM updates in November and December 2025, on the client screen in XPM, the contacts section no longer displays a contact’s mobile or phone number. Only the name and email address are visible, which means you must open each contact to check whether a phone number is recorded. Previously, having the phone number visible on the main screen made it much quicker to assess contact details at a glance.

    Restoring the display of mobile and phone numbers in the contacts area would improve usability and avoid unnecessary extra clicks when a number is not listed.

    Thank you for the detailed feedback regarding the recent XPM updates.


    I’ve moved this into Gaining Support. I can definitely see how the removal of those phone number columns has added extra steps to your workflow. While the recent design updates aimed for a cleaner look, "at a glance" information is vital for busy practices.


    A quick tip for now: If you need to see phone numbers across your client list without clicking into each one, you can customise your main list view:


    1. Go to Clients > All Clients.
    2. Click the Columns button on the right.
    3. Tick Phone and Mobile. This will surface those numbers in your main list view so you don't have to drill into each record.

  12. Returns Management User Interface (UI) - "All" Tab Improvements/Customization

    To improve handling returns by adding bulk selection and status update functionalities on the "All" tab of the Returns Management interface. Also, suggesting having a customizable UI to best fit our workflow preference.

  13. XPM has been updated recently (April 2025) and the update has removed the re-ordering of tasks function. We used the re-ordering function to put all tasks in chronological order e.g. monthly payroll tasks, VAT returns, year end accounts were all arranged in date order. Since the update all the re-ordering that we have completed on jobs have been changed and now all tasks are non-chronological and in a jumbled order. This is very frustrating. Please could Xero re-instate the ability to re-order tasks as required? These changes are a backwards step.

  14. Have a workpaper for motor vehicle private use adjustments with calculators for FBT, logbook, and mileage reimbursement. Be able to have more than one like the home office workpaper does. And have this roll forward like the home office one does so that you can see the method used by the client and the FBT/logbook values etc.

  15. To have a column in the return screen that shows the detail of the tax return (e.g. estimated tax payable / refundable and / or the Taxable Income amount).

    Purpose: To make the accountant easily review the tax summary returned.

  16. To have a function that essentially works as a sticky note on the details page of the clients file. Although there is the notes function, it it easily lost within the multiple tabs, however if something was right there on the home screen for all to see it isn't as easily missed/ignored. It could be something simple like a staff member has been trying to get in touch with the client, or bringing attention to an address change, noting the preferred method for documents to be signed etc.

    Hi everyone, we have a new Tax Manager that's currently in beta and with a small group of users. As part of Tax Manager there's 'Ready to start' which lists annual income tax returns from the most recently completed tax year, generated using your practice’s client list and data downloaded directly from the ATO.

  19. When I use Xero tax it pre-populates the tax agent number overriding the previous entry in the previous year. We want this to be the client phone number due to we want the ATO to contact them.

    Every tax return it is taking manual labour to change the phone number from the pre-populated phone number.

    We'd like the option to pre-populate the client phone number like other client information.

    We'd prefer to not have to delete any details to replace the phone number and this was resulting in tax return error.
