  1. Ability to view notes added within the contact details section from the list view.

    This would help with viewing contact notes across different contacts, for detail such as method of payment or terms of service.

    Thanks for everyone's feedback on viewing contact notes from the list view. We appreciate hearing how this could help manage payment details, terms of service, and client information across contacts.

    While this maybe something we consider further in the future we want to be upfront here that this is not something we have planned in the roadmap.

    We'll keep a track of the interest this idea continues to build in votes, and should there be any change we will updated you all, here.

  2. Would it be possible to have the ability to search on a customers account for individual products that have been previously sold to them? We have customers that purchase various products from us and sometimes it will be months between each purchase. I have to open every invoice to see if the item is on there. Even if there was an update on the Products & Services page to list the products sold to each customer, I think it would help.

    Currently there are a couple of options for some here such as using Smart Lists to run a search to view all customers that have bought a certain item within a period.  

    Alternatively, you can run Inventory Item Details or Receivable Invoice Details reports could be useful where you can filter by a specific contact, item and/or description to understand what items and quantities of those items that have been bought by a contact with the in the timeframe of the report. 

    However if you'd like to see this option direct within the contact record, add your support to the idea here and we'll get a better sense of overall interest. 🙂

  3. Customer lifetime value report.

    I would like to see date fields that you complete when you onboard and archive a new customer. Then it would be easy to work out the average lifetime value of your customers (CLV) using the “income and expenses by contact” or other report.

  4. Hi, I will be looking after the credit control activity of the organisation I recently joined. After looking at the portal, I think it would be useful to be able to create alerts for specific schools, for specific dates, reminding me I need to contact them on those days and be able to switch reminders, on or off, with the opportunity to select the dates (ex if invoice not paid by ... the reminders will switch back on automatically on on the date I set up). Do you think this functions can be implemented presuming it would be useful to…

    Thanks for the suggestion, Samantha. There are a lot of different types of alerts and notifications that our customers would like to see Xero develop. 

    When you mention credit control I wanted to highlight Credit limits that can be set for a contact and may be of some use to you here. 

    There is also the ability to set Invoice Reminders for when invoices are overdue and you may want to set up for contacts. 

    We don't have other alerts or warnings planned at this stage but will begin to get a sense of the interest for your idea here. 

  5. I was recently asked by a client how create a formatted PDF list of their contacts in Xero with addresses, telephone numbers, email addresses etc.

    They had been asked for this by their factoring provider.

    I know they can select all contacts and use the option at the top of the screen to export, but that creates a csv file which obviously doesn't have any formatting and runs the risk of it being opened in Excel which then messes up phone numbers etc (we are in the UK where phone numbers start 0 and Excel 'helpfully' removes this when opening…

    Thanks for the extra detail, Ross and apologies I never rounded back on this here. While we also don't have plans for creating a report that includes all the detail from a contacts record atm I've slightly adjusted the title of your idea here and we'll continue to track interest in this here. If any plans are made down the line I'll be sure to let you know on the idea here.

  6. We have 1,782 “Archived Contacts” from mergers with other data following adoption of Xero Practice Management. The vast majority of these archived clients have the reference field completed with a 6 digit reference that we would like to re-use for the current clients.

    Unfortunately the reference field needs to be unique and so we cannot apply this reference to the current contact until it is changed or deleted in the archived client.

    Please can we have a bulk delete of the reference field for all 1782 archived clients (or add an extra digit if you cannot simply delete the reference…

  7. Xero has the facility to look up UK addresses by postcode when entering new contacts etc.

    Unfortunately it usually makes a such a mess of the address, I end up editing it all again anyway!

    • UK Postcode lookups can return a Company Name (e.g. if there are multiple companies registered at the same address.) Xero adds this company name again to the address. In our case, that is a duplicate of the Contact name, so we take that out to avoid it appearing twice.

    • UK Postal counties are obsolete and should no longer be used in postal addresses. Royal Mail…

  8. It would be extremely helpful to be able to assign a range of default settings to either individual contacts, or to contact groups, such as:
    - invoice template
    - billing cycle (((would also be great to get variable billing cycles as a feature!))
    - currency

    we have a fair amount of customer hierarchy, which we've been able to somewhat address with contact groups.. but the fundamental lack of configurable options after the group is designated feels hugely wasted.

  9. It would be great if, when viewing a contact, there was a quick 'sign/flag' to show if that contact has an active Direct Debit form.

    Currently you have to go to >Settings >Payment Service >GoCardless >edit >Direct Debit Forms

    Hi Amna, could you explain your idea a little more? Would this be to send bulk comms to multiple contacts from Xero, or something like being able to set different persons on a contacts record to receive different types of transactions or communications?

    Hi team, in lieu of a direct field for this atm as noted in my last response you could add a Note to the Contact record either as a History and Notes note or within the additional notes field by editing the Contact.

    We're continuing to track this idea here and will share if there are any updates.

  12. Just like the "Drop or click to upload files" area below this text box, I'd like an area within each transaction that I can use to upload an invoice or receipt. Rather than clicking the add document button and searching through the file hierarchy.

  13. There is currently no option for tracking inventory items on Hubdoc, aside from using the tracking categories. It is very laborious having to go into each transaction on Xero, after being published from Hubdoc, and select the Tracking Inventory items which in turn when selected changes the rest of the details on the line including the description originally filled into Hubdoc!

    It would save a great amount of time to include this field in the Hubdoc 'Destination' window and for Hubdoc to retrieve the inventory Items from the company's Xero account in the same way as the 'contacts' and 'accounts'…

  14. Once the file is uploaded to Hubdoc, it effectively becomes a JPEG once at the review screen, this means you can not copy paste or grab contents from within the document and you will have to either open up the PDF on a separate screen or edit it within Xero.

    It would be great if the description could also be extracted - OR allow the document to be copied/stay a PDF to be able to copy. This will reduce human errors when entering data. Thank you.

  15. There should be a way we can change the email address that the files inbox accepts to make it more tailored to clients?

    For example for a client, their inbox files email could be: xero.inbox.owerthsgm56785.49n6356@xerofiles.com which is crazy!

    It would be so much better if it could be something like xero.inbox.clientname@xerofiles.com

So we have set up and had a lot of success with email templates in Xero. it would be useful to have the ability to have a default option for each contact (or group of contacts) a specific template for a specific reason eg new invoice or AR. so that everytime we go to email an invoice for example it preloads on a certain template.

    Eg we have a number of clients that only speak read German and/or french so it would be nice to be able to set these contacts to default to use our German and/or French templates…

  17. 2 decimal places in Hubdoc is not enough. It must match Xero's 4 decimal places.

    I have had to stop recommending Hubdoc to businesses that use item/inventory functions in Xero. Many businesses buy and sell products to the 4th decimal place. When you are dealing with large numbers 2 decimal places are significant. Users have become frustrated with having to do rounding line items and other fixes just to ensure the correct total price/quantity is captured in Xero.

  18. I can see multiple suggestions and several thread over a number of years regarding the need for an SMS feature for both customer communication and invoicing. When are you going to add this? The tech is readily available to you. Many other platforms offer this now. Please prioritize this enhancement! Thanks.

  19. When a client uploads receipts, bank statements or other items to Hubdoc via the app or sends them by email, it would be nice to be notified at the end of each day if something was added. The accounting program that our office uses emails general email when items are uploaded into our portal. This is to ensure nothing is missed or overlooked.

  20. It would be great if in Blue Xero in the Contacts list the "Mobile number" can be displayed when there is no actual phone number, currently you need to open the contact to see the Mobile Number. a bit frustrating.

    We've just released a recent improvement to searching contacts where you can now search a contact by any phone, direct dial, mobile or fax number saved in their contact record.

    While you won't be able to see a contacts mobile number from the screen, you'll be able to search for a contact by a mobile number that's been saved for them.

    We don't have further change planned to add more detail to this screen atm but we'll continue to track the support of the idea here.
