  1. We have clients where a sigificant proportion of their sales are Zero rated, which can significanly affect both net and VAT totals in certain boxes as well as the overall value in box 5 to be paid/repaid.

Could you create a report that allows the totals in boxes 1-9 to be listed, allowing comparison with prior months or periods or years.

This will be useful to see, say, the last 3 months or the corresponding prior year amounts so that percentages can be reviewed.

  3. Currently the SB Pool Detail report contains a large number of columns and the report appears cramped and difficult to read due to the smaller font size.

It would be helpful to have the ability to change the column order and remove excess or un-needed columns, as is possible for the other tax and accounting depreciation schedules.

  4. With the rollout of the NDIA’s new PACE system, NDIS participant plans now include funding periods (e.g. monthly or quarterly). Providers and plan managers must track and claim within these timeframes, but Xero currently doesn’t support this.

Adding a Funding Period Tracking feature would let users:

Set funding period start/end dates per participant or support category

Track and report spend per period

Receive alerts for overspend or expiring funds

Validate invoices against active funding periods

This would help thousands of NDIS providers maintain compliance, reduce manual tracking, and strengthen Xero’s value in the disability sector.

  5. Provide an option to allow standard users to publish bank reconciliation reports, but not all reports.

As a Xero Advisor, I don't always perform all of the accounting functions for my clients. For some clients we mutually prefer to have them perform the bank reconciliation process each month. This is a standard internal control that isn't always outsourced. Requiring publishing bank reconciliation reports at the Advisor level user seems overkill and limits how advisors can manage levels of service assumed by the advisor and their clients.

  6. We pay contractors based on sales reports for each contractor. Getting this report is easy. In fact, Xero does that well. However, to get that same report and deduct a % value or any other value to work out what the contractor payment will be. Then being able to save & print & Email that report. Currently, we export to Excel, and whilst that works great, it is fiddly and time consuming. Probably not for everyone, but handy for some.

THi Steven 👋, thanks for raising this idea. We appreciate its not straightforward calculating the percentage of invoices paid to contractors, which we know creates extra manual work. Although this is not on our current roadmap, we will monitor this idea for votes and other comments. However, for now, a workaround would continue to be to export the report and use a spreadsheet application to calculate the percentages. 📈

  7. It isn't possible to add a quantity column to a report, nor is it possible to pull through Qty data entered in Xero or create a cell the Qty can be manually typed into.

You can add a note column but this would be to link to a section of the report pack, not a quantity loaded into Xero or a box we could manually type the quantity into. Further the notes section functionality is unable to be renamed and can only be linked to other reports in the report pack. It does not work to bring through Qty data.

Hi everyone, thanks for your engagement and support for adding a quantity column to reports in Xero. We understand there are differing reasons around wanting to add quantity to a report, like being able to track fuel for tax credits, livestock numbers, or hours worked for carbon reporting.

There's a specific idea for Livestock reporting that we'd recommend anyone interested in this joins.

    To highlight, quantity can be added within the following reports within Xero right now;

  8. When I create a new Report Pack, I can name it. When I add a custom report, that report shows as the Xero Standard Report Name, not as my Custom Report Name. Please can the Custom Report Name be shown, rather than the Xero Standard Report Name. If I add two different Custom Reports (both based on the Xero Standard Report), I don't know which is which.

Hi all, we appreciate this feedback raised through a broader idea and would like to better understand the direct interest in this through this idea.

While not in our roadmap atm, this is something we understand the needs in and will keep you updated if there is news to share, here.

  10. The "GST on expenses" and "no GST" sections of the GST report have contradicting signage - e.g.: expenses are a positive when there is GST but a negative when its under the "no GST" section. Can we keep it consistent in the report as its confusing to read/review.

  11. Customise comparison dates

When running a P&L or any other report with comparison data, it would be handy to be able to customise the date range of the comparison data. Some reports have an option of custom date range, but it's greyed out.

We understand that customising comparison dates in the Profit & Loss report would give you more control over how you view and analyse business performance, especially when you're working with non-standard reporting periods.

Currently in Xero, if you run the P&L for a custom date range (e.g. 1 Jan 2025 to 27 Jan 2025), you can compare that period with the previous:

    • Year – shows 1 Jan 2024 to 27 Jan 2024
    • Quarter – shows 1 Oct 2024 to 27 Oct 2024
    • Custom – automatically sets the comparison period to the same length (in this case, 27 days) immediately before your selected range, so it would show 5 Dec 2024 to 31 Dec 2024

This idea’s now in Gaining Support. If this would be helpful for your workflow, feel free to add a vote or comment to share how you’d use it. Your input helps the team better understand what…

  12. When exporting the profit and loss transactions it would be amazing for one of the columns to show the Contact in isolation rather than merging the contact and description into one field. This would allow much easier spreadsheet analysis by contact.

Hi everyone, thanks for being a part of the conversation on filtering Profit and Loss reports by contact. We understand how this could make digging into profitability a bit easier.

There is currently the Income & Expenses by Contact report that’ll show where you’ve incurred expenses or received income or funds for each contact. You could also Group or Filter this report by contact with the ability to drill down to the transactions related to each amount.

Alternatively, some people in the discussion have also kindly shared their method which may help others.

Our product team has reviewed this idea, and while this may be a development we consider in the longer term it isn’t roadmapped at this stage. We’ll continue to keep an ear on the ground here and share if there are any updates.

  13. We have 3 Belgian customers who are unable to used Xero as there is no connection with Belgium tax authorities, comparable with the HMRC in the UK for MTD VAT returns. If Xero truly want to be a global accounting solution, with Group structures having multiple geographical entities, they need to provide more global support/interaction to avoid clients moving away to alternative solutions.

  14. Report dates
On financial reports. Instead of last financial year of this financial year wouldn’t it be better to have the years as the selection ie 2024/25 2023/24 2022/23. it will be much quicker to select the year especially is going back further than the current year.

Thanks for sharing here, Kerri. Understand why you'd find this helpful and we'll start to get a sense from others that'd like to see this here, too.

I know it's a little different to what you're directly asking here, but perhaps comparison columns and saving as custom could help where you can run the report for multiple date ranges at once and view the comparison across each?

  15. The print date that now appears at the bottom of reports is useful for some reports and circumstances, and I understand this date is now turned off for Published Reports.

However we do not 'publish' our financial statements - we send our financial statements to clients in a practical and informative pack instead. This is a more efficient, professional and streamlined approach for us.

Showing the print date on these financial statements is of concern, due to various issues including the lag time between preparing and approving the report. It is also not ideal when preparing the directors resolution and…

Hi team, while this may be something we look to do in the future unfortunately we were not able to move along with the work the team had started exploring here.

We'll move to Accepted for now and if there are any updates I'll be back to share with you all. Thanks and continue to support this idea if it's something you'd like to see.

Hi everyone, we've created this idea based on feedback received here.

With careful design and research around the placement of action buttons, there are no planned changes for moving the the 'File with IR' button.

However, we'd still like to get a sense of the interest from community in this, here.

  17. Ability to export the GST return with the layout as customised on the screen. For example if columns have been hidden these are not shown in the exported file.

Hi everyone, this idea has been created from feedback on this initial idea. We understand why you'd like your exported return to appear with the same columns hidden and would like to get a better view of the overall community interest in this from the idea here.

While we don't have immediate plans, we will keep an eye on this here and share if there are any updates.

  18. Shortcuts for Financial Statement Reports

It would be extremely helpful to have shortcuts to navigate financial statements.
E.g. 1 would go to the first page of the report, 2 would go to profit and loss, 3 to balance sheet etc. this would assist with quickly switching between different reports in the financial statements.

Hi Emile, appreciate you sharing this suggestion for specific shortcuts that would improve efficiency when working in reports. This idea is open for fellow community members to support through voting and comments.

We also have an existing idea for more shortcuts in Xero - we'd encourage you to also add your vote to that broader idea here: Navigation - More keyboard shortcuts in Xero.

Voting on both helps us in two ways: it shows our Reporting team the specific need you have, and it also contributes to the overall demand for more keyboard efficiency across all of Xero.

Thanks again for your valuable contribution to the community!

  19. Essential for cash flow and projections, an annual report divided by month that includes source and base currencies.

The "Account Transactions" report currently enables us to overview all accounts (Balance Sheet and P&L) in both currencies (source and base) but lacks a feature to display 12 months alongside each other.

We're grateful for your engagement and letting us know how adding comparative options in the Account Transactions report could benefit you.

This isn't something we have direct plans of right now, however we'll continue to gather community interest in this and share if there are any updates.

In terms of cashflow projections, if not already you may want to check out Short term cashflows with Xero Analytics.

  20. It seems we can only class expenses within the profit & loss as staff costs or other charges. Ideally the breakdown should match the tax return.
