  1. Hey - when making a custom report it would be really useful to be able to show the movement in balance sheet codes. For example, when preparing our month end summary we can't bring in the capitalised wages cost automatically because it brings in the cumulative balance, rather than the balance for the period. To be honest it's crazy to me that this doesn't exist, but would be great if it could!

    Being open, we don't have any current plans for changing the Custom report behaviour but we'll continue to track the interest through your idea here and will update if there is any changes to share.

  2. The new modernised GST returns in Xero no longer export the report name in the exported file name. The document only has the client name and date, not the report type anymore. Should say "XXXX Ltd 30 11 2024 GST Return", whereas it currently only says XXXX Ltd 30 11 2024". Inefficient to have to manually add the words "GST Return" for each report produced in Blue Xero when sending multiple documents to clients. Is there a way to get it back?   3. For the Aged Receivables it would be helpful to know what customers owe us as well as what we owe them. We take deposits for future invoices and they don't show on the Aged REceivable Summary.

  4. NZ GST returns - add multiple sorting
    Currently, I can only sort by one column. When I click on Account, the transactions are sorted by account name. But when I then click on Contact, the transactions are sorted by contact name, and the account names become unordered. It would be great if I could sort by multiple columns. For example, first by account, then by contact.

  6. Have a Report that shows all Quotes that have been accepted, but not invoiced. That shows any part invoices that have been raised. We frequently invoice a % upfront, % mid project and then % at the end.

  7. Suggestion for Enhancing Note Visibility in Xero

    When writing notes for any invoice, bill, or manual journal in Xero, the notes are typically placed in the History column. However, this makes them less visible to someone new who might review these documents. If these notes could be added as sticky notes at the top corners of the page, they would be more prominent and could help avoid potential mistakes caused by missing information.   8. Can the VAT account be split into two, a method that Sage utilises?

    A vat control account and a VAT suspense account.

    The VAT suspense account will show the balance of the Dr or Cr of vat payable or owing from transactions included in the VAT return, this is where the Vat payments to/from HMRC are posted.

    The VAT control account shows the balance of transactions where input/output VAT has been realised from invoices raised/received, but are not yet included in the VAT return typically because the the company is operating the VAT cash scheme.

    Hi Robert, being upfront this isn't something we have any intentions of changing in the near term. We will continue to track interest in your idea here for the time being but would be quite a fundamental change to the way tax works in Xero.

  9. New NZ GST return - brings up the GST return for the wrong entity.
    This is not a new idea, but a critical flaw in the new GST return that needs to be addressed right away. I have gone to support and they confirm that it is a Xero issue. "Currently, the Product Team have confirmed it’s not possible to work on multiple GST returns across multiple browsers using the new GST return."   10. Remove all account codes check box upon financial statement publishing

    We need this check box added when we publish our EOFY financial statements - a similar box already exists to remove all decimal places yet we have to manually go to the trading statement, income statement, balance sheet and equity accounts and manually turn off account codes on each page.

    A simple box to remove all account codes when publishing just like the decimal place box would be fantastic

  12. It would be useful to be able to file historic tax returns prior to the dates shown in Xero. I have a client who submitted his own accounts but has never submitted his own tax returns so we need to file 4 returns for him but we are only able to go back 2 years.

  14. IDEA - CIS suffered report to calculate the CIS suffered correctly.

    ISSUE - If you apply a credit note to an invoice that has both CIS labour and CIS materials, Xero does not calculate the CIS suffered correctly. Even though the credit note is coded to the correct nominal code, Xero doesn't recognise this. This causes the CIS suffered report to reduce the deduction amount which is incorrect. This means the figure you submit to HMRC is lower than it should be. Meaning less of a refund of CIS suffered than it actually should be.

  15. Selecting Multiple tracking Categories in one Budget

    I work in an NPO and we have a very complex system, we have 4 departments and in our department we work on many different projects which run over different year periods. we also have donors that donate to more than one project with donations overlapping financial year periods.

    we have created two tracking categories, Projects and Donors. Under each category there is multiple options, For example Marketing team - school project and marketing team University project.

  16. Xero's Sales Tax Report doesn't recognize the great state of California's tax year: 7/1-6/30. Xero pull-downs only offer calendar-year options (1/1-12/31). So, we couldn't set up Sales Tax Report for largest state in the US. Please fix this. We can do it ad infinitum manually, but it seems that Xero could fix the problem. (Avalara could inform Xero if other US states also vary from a simple calendar Tax Year reporting.)

  18. Currently all reports can be Exported to PDF, Excel or Googlesheet. Please add an option to export to CSV. This file would not have report headings, just column headings.
    When exported data is to be imported into another system it is time wasting to have to remove the heading lines and convert the file to csv.
    Seeing that Xero requires all it's import files to be in csv, it's odd that this is not an option for the reporting side of things.

  19. Small request: Include the cover & contents page by default, please.

    The following is info from a Support webpage... Publish a report from the Drafts tab. In the Accounting menu, select Reports. Select the Drafts tab. Click the menu icon kebab style menu icon to the right of the report you want to publish, then select Publish.

    Hi Maresa, when you say you'd like to add Location would this be based on a Tracking category you've set up in the organisation? If so, you could add this when you create the original transaction(bill) the asset is raised from.
