Hi Brenda, just to confirm is it within the graph that you're wanting to increase the # of top customers?

Currently, if you run the Income by Contact report with Chart & table the chart will only show the top 10 but the table will give you an ordered list for all contacts that you received income from in the period.

  2. I would like to recommend adding 'Effective Date of VAT Registration' on the Financial settings, as this information can easily disappear amongst all the many documents we store for the client and also easily mistaken as the Date of company incorporation that can lead to many issues down the line with HMRC.

  3. I WOULD LIKE TO RECOMMEND A PRODUCT UPDATE ON THE PROFIT & LOSS REPORT.

THE REPORTS 'Net Profit' ON ALL REPORTS, EVEN IF SOME PERIODS HAVE A LOSS. CAN IT INCLUDE 'Net Profit/(Loss)' AS PEOPLE, ESPECIALLY THOSE NOT IN THE ACCOUNTING FIELD TO KNOW THAT BRACKETS MEANS A LOSS, MAY INTERPRET (LOSS) AS A PROFIT

Hi Ntando, it'll be good to gauge interest from others in the community that'd like this terminology to be used as a default on the Profit & Loss report.

Want to be open this isn't anything we have any plans for atm with the customisation that's available.

As you may already be across, currently you can edit the heading of the row through the Edit layout, and then Save as Custom where you have the option to make the report the default for the organisation.

  4. When preparing a personal tax return it would be great if there was as option to attach files in each section. So we can attach things like bank interest statement, P60, P11d, dividend vouchers, state pension, personal pension etc.

  5. When reviewing reports (e.g., Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet), we often need to view monthly data from the start of the fiscal year up to the current month. Right now, we have to manually select the first and last day of each month every time, which is time-consuming and repetitive. This makes simple tasks like flicking through months to verify data more cumbersome than necessary.

    1. Add “Previous Month” / “Next Month” buttons These buttons would auto-update the report’s date range to the previous or next full month.

Example: From May 1 – May 31, clicking "Next" moves the report to…

Thanks for submitting your idea on Xero Product Idea's, Jessica. We appreciate you taking your time to share changes that would be most meaningful to you.

We don't have any plans for adding more common date options in reports atm, but we'll begin to get a feel of the interest in this from your idea.

  6. When you run an account transaction report, for a balance sheet item, the opening balance always appears in the date column. It would be helpful if Xero could recode this so that the date column is balance date + 1, and the words "opening balance" appear in the source column. The advantage of this is that when you go to use the data, and put in a filter, you don't have to edit this.

  9. We would like to automatically transfer daily sales data (excluding GST) from Xero into our custom system. However, the current sales reporting options in Xero do not allow us to select a “Today” filter.

At present, we have to manually set the date each day to get the daily sales amount, which makes automation difficult and time-consuming.

    Idea / Request:
Please add a “Today” filter option (similar to existing options like “This Month” or “Last Month”) so that businesses can easily pull daily sales data without manual date entry.

    This would:

Enable easier automation with integrations and custom systems

Thank you for your valuable contribution and for providing a clear, detailed explanation of your need for a "Today" filter in sales reporting. We appreciate you highlighting how this feature would significantly improve the automation of daily sales data transfers to your custom system.

We have completed our initial review of your idea, and it is now open for community feedback and voting. We understand that enabling more efficient, real-time data access is crucial for many businesses.

To help your suggestion gain traction, we encourage you to share it with colleagues and other professionals who would also benefit from this change. Their votes and comments will provide essential insight into how this improvement could enhance the Xero experience for everyone.

  10. Aged Receivables/Payables Summary report to include invoice numbers by default, which is commonly available in other accounting softwares. It is crucial to know the number of invoices and unique invoice reference number for ease of reference when reviewing ageing.

  11. Be able to expand or reduce the size of a column in the depreciation schedule.
We are finding when we add extra columns it is making the depreciation method column really large and you cant adjust it. Making the page stretched across longer that it needs to be.

    See attachment as an example.

After some testing, we discovered that downloading the file in Excel or Google Sheets format and then saving it as a PDF reduces the column size. While this may not be ideal, it can serve as a temporary workaround.

  12. There are a number of things bugging me regarding the essential task of reconciling bank accounts. The Bank Reconciliation Reports are easy enough to create, but after that it all goes wrong. Nobody seems to have thought about what happens to them after the 'Publish' button is pressed! Here's what I think - and please please please vote for this or nothing will change.

    1) I would like to see bank reconciliation reports having their own dedicated space. They are currently hidden away in Reports>Published, mixed up with all the other published reports. Please create a new Bank Reconciliation Reports…

  13. Small Business Corporations (SBC's) can, under certain circumstances, depreciate assets in a 3-year schedule as follows:

    • 1st year: 50%
    • 2nd year: 30%
    • 3rd year: 20%

See the attached document, under 4.2.

Currently, this is not possible (I checked with Support).

I expect this to work within Xero, as it is a regular tax rule in South Africa.

Adding this schedule for South Africa would be extremely useful and important, as we now have to do the depreciation outside of Xero.

  14. Leave transaction report - NZ. Could this be changed to select multiple employees & to change the format so that there is a column for employee as opposed to grouping by employee. This enables easier reconciling through Excel. The Australian Leave Transaction report is ideal - could NZ's be made the same or similar.

  15. Many of my clients are partnerships and trade using the partners initials e.g. J & J Doe but on their reports it displays as %26 and on emails that they are sending with sales invoices, it displays as "& amp;" meaning that when I save reports or they send their invoices, this has to be changed. Having worked in a software house previously, I know that this is a programming issue and one that should have a relatively simple fix so can you please look at this.

  17. Create a Receivable and/or Payable Credit Note Report which lists all credit notes issued/received, and the corresponding invoice they are linked to. This will help as when a credit note is issued the status is 'paid', however if I want to do a review of invoices and days until invoice is paid, I want to be able to exclude items that have been credit noted.

    Thanks for sharing your idea.

For now, the closest thing we have is to use the Receivable/Payable Invoice Detail (or Summary) reports.

You can use the Filter option on Source, to only show credit notes. However, the existing reports don't show the invoices/bills they're allocated to.

  18. When pulling a Contacts report (expense by vendor, cash payments made to vendors, etc) out of Xero, please add the ability to "turn on" more fields from Contacts. For 1099 purposes, it's crucial to see "business entity" selections and "DBA names" (IRS-registered business name) when preparing the 1099 report. I know you can see this info within the 1099 report, but looking at one contact at a time is not efficient.

  20. Add the estimates section when downloading a copy of the Tax Return, to a full breakdown of the assessable income & tax owed. Usually I use pg 4 on a downloaded copy of a TR, but it does include a values in that section. it would be best to have a detailed summary that fits in 1-2 pages.

Hi Patrick, thanks for sharing this idea and for clearly outlining how a more detailed breakdown of assessable income, deductions, offsets, and tax owed in the downloaded Tax Return would fit into your workflow.

We’ve moved this idea into Gaining support. It’s now open for the wider community to add votes and comments, which helps us understand how useful this change would be across different practices. If others see value in this, they’re welcome to share how they’d use it.

We’ll continue to monitor the feedback as it comes in.
