  1. When Importing from Xero to Xero Tax (AU), there is a filter button to filter only PP or NPP labels (or Both).

These are only relevant to Revenue and Expenses account types (and tax return labels).

When I click PP or NPP and then move onto Assets/Liabilities/Equity, no Tax Return Labels show up in the drop down (because Xero Tax filters them out).

Xero Tax SHOULD NOT filter out labels for Assets/Liabilities/Equity. There is no benefit and no efficiency for this behaviour. Xero Tax should return ALL labels for Assets/Liabilities/Equity whenever PP or NPP (or Both) is selected.

  2. Suggestions to improve the reporting of GST Audit Beta

    1. Allow us to select which Tax Codes to display in report (default All)

    2. Show the tax code in each row rather than as a report subheader. Useful when there are lots of records for some tax codes

    3. I noticed that we can select Reference field for the columns, but not Invoice No. If the entry's Ref field is blank, the report shows the Invoice No. So this is misrepresenting the report, and showing inaccurate results as no one analysing the report would know if they are seeing the Ref no or…

  3. It would be really useful to see the contact name on the History and Notes report.
We use this report to track bank account changes but we also check newly added supplier bank account details. Seeing which contact each line relates to would help us group them and know if an 'Edited - Bank.....' relates to the same contact as a 'Created' so we don't need to go into each line

Hi everyone, thanks for sharing this idea. We understand that having more detail available in History and Notes reports could make it easier to review changes and track user activity.

The suggestion is to add contact details within the History and Notes report to help users identify which customer, supplier, or record a change relates to without needing to click out of the report.

We’ll continue tracking this idea here, where other users can share their feedback and examples to help shape future improvements.

  4. Dear Xero,

Please!.. Ideally, accurate references on all source documents should be able to link them to their Payment transactions in Xero. However, it can be extremely difficult and time-consuming - especially with Spend/Receive Money transactions.

It would be incredibly helpful for a column of 'Link ID's' to be displayed on all detailed reports.

Doesn't need to be fancy, just a Unique ID.

This link ID would need to be automatically generated by Xero, and, have the ability to change dynamically in the case a payment is removed (as one of many examples).

It would help to see the account…

Hi Callum, appreciate you highlighting how a unique payment reference field could support reconciliation workflows. Your suggestion about displaying Link IDs on detailed reports to track account movements is a valuable feedback.

This idea has now moved to Gaining Support, which means it’s open for community support through votes and comments. We encourage other members who would find this helpful to add their votes and share their experiences.

In the meantime, a practical workaround is to use the “Reference” field consistently. When creating invoices, include a unique reference code for the payment (for example, PAY-1001), and when receiving payments, enter the same reference in the “Reference” field. This ensures that the data will appear in the Reference column in both the Receivable Invoice report and the Account Transactions report when run for the relevant bank account, making it easier to track and reconcile payments.

We’ll update this thread when the…

  5. The delivered response to my previous idea was no correct. The aged summary/detail reports only show what is outstanding.
The report I am requesting is to show the turnover, monthly across 12 months so that we can see what we have spent with a supplier each month for that year, but also what a customer has spent with us.

Hi team, returning to the idea here I'd also like to highlight the Income and Expense by contact report which can be run for a date range and with comparative columns. You'll also find you can drill into the figures of the report to view all transactions that make up the total for that contact.

Alternatively, there is the Receivable and Payable Invoice Summary reports that can be filtered for the transaction types you'd like to see and grouped by Contact.

Is there anything missing from these reports that you'd need to get the view you're after here?

  6. For the Annual Financial Statements, it may be useful to include the entity’s registration number directly beneath the entity’s name in brackets — for example:

    The New Company (Pty) Ltd
    (2025/######/07).

This can be applied on both the cover page and in the header for consistency

Hi everyone, as a quick confirmation through the idea - Right now you can use a CSV file to enter data and import multiple manual journals at once.

However, as per the request in this idea it is not currently possible to select or drag and drop multiple files to upload and create multiple manual journals at once.

If this is something you'd find valuable please add your support to this idea. We're interested to understand the community appetite in this feature.

  8. The new Sales Tax Report does not allow for a semi-annual tax reporting period. The non-profit youth camp I work for pays a small amount each year, and the state has us on a schedule to pay twice a year. That is not an option that can be selected, as the only options are Monthly, Quarterly, and Annually. Please add the option for a semi-annual reporting period.

  10. I would like to be able to see sales totals on a simple table on the Xero app. I simply wish to see monthly sales totals as well as year totals per selected year. This helps me to get a quick snapshot of how my sales are increasing or decreasing, and also to view sales trends by month.

Thanks for submitting your idea on Xero Product Idea's, Domenico. As you may have seen there is the Total Cash In and Out graph on the dashboard of the app. The dark blue bars show the total amount of cash that’s come into your bank account per month, and the light blue bars show the cash that’s gone out.

Appreciate there's no way to show this only based on invoices, or for a year view atm.

We'll monitor and track support your idea receives from the community.

You can find out and stay updated with all Xero releases on Xero Central.

  11. Allow self employed who are not VAT registered to use MTD.
I've just signed up to submit accounts via MTD with HMRC but Xero currently don't allow me to do this unless I use an accountant. I use Xero so I don't need an accountant... I'm now a bit stuck as HMRC require me to submit account for the current 2025-2026 tax year this way and I have no way of doing this. Please help! thanks.

Thanks for your interest in Xero’s MTD for IT beta and for sharing this idea here. In the first phase of our beta, we’re only supporting Xero Partners.

However this will be rolled out to users without an accountant, please complete our expression of interest form to register your interest and we’ll be in touch when we have more information on expanding the beta. You may also like to check out the MTD for the Self employed guide on the Xero website.

  12. A Custom Aged Receivables report that can be generated with additional fields selected (banking details as per attached Netcash Template) for import to Netcash to create a debit batch. Xero will then also have to make provision for to the banking details fields on the contact's account as required by Netcash.

Hi community, this idea has been created from feedback in this initial idea. While we are interested to get a better pulse on the interest in this, we want to front foot that we don't have any plans for this change.

Switching from landscape to portrait was made based on a lot of feedback and testing, so we'd want to see a fair amount of support through the idea here to consider making another change.

  14. Report codes for notes disclosure - I use chart of accounts for notes disclosures, rather than relying on remembing to manually edit numbers within notes. It would be helpful if there could be a category we could choose under Equity which was for Notes Disclosure or Non-Reporting. The entries always contra, so it would be helpful to not have to edit the report layout for each additional new code.

Thanks Justine, for your suggestion and for explaining how you’re using report templates and codes for notes disclosures.

We’ve reviewed this idea with the product team and it’s not something we’re planning to develop right now, so we’ve marked it as Not in pipeline. While this won’t move ahead, we’re continuing work in related areas like Trusted Notes and code‑driven reporting, and we’ll keep monitoring interest in this space for future planning.

  15. Please show the VAT number on the VAT page. At the moment either need to go via the Financial settings or drill into a VAT return to see the VAT registration number. Would be good if quickly visible on the VAT page

  16. Come on Xero, this should be the flow already, the tab position after entering the date should go to the reversing date, we accountants enter a lot of manual journals that are reversed and it is a pain in the **** to have to mouse click on the auto reverse date to be able to enter the date...

This is a easy fix, this is just the tab index in the page...

Thanks for sharing this great idea, Leandro. We can see how changing the keyboard tab order on the Manual Journal screen would make entering reversing journals more efficient.

We've moved your idea to the 'Gaining Support' stage. This means it's now visible to the wider Xero community, who can vote and add comments to show their support. This collective feedback is a key way our product team gauges demand for new features.

While your idea is gaining support, we wanted to share a couple of other related ideas that you and other supporters might be interested in:

  18. I would LOVE to be able to produce tracking reports where I can select ALL items within CATERGORY A, but then display them in columns by CATEGORY B.
Eg. I use Department and Job.
I would like to see all Jobs for a particular Department in a P&L.
Is this something that may be possible in the future or would behelpful to others?
    Thanks x

  19. I would like to be able to assign the 210 CIS labour account to a service for CIS labour. At the moment, I have a couple of services for CIS labour and some for non CIS labour.
For the Non CIS labour, I can creat a service called 'labour' and add the account code to it.
This can't be done with CIS labour at the moment as Xero won't allow it. This means that for each line item of CIS labour in an invoice I have to manually add the 210 CIS account.
This is unnecessarily timecomsuming and allows for…
