Incorrect Xero Sales Tax returns in the US when Use Tax applies.
U.S. State Returns - USE TAX PROCESSING NOTES
6/10/26
Note: the following notes are based on treatment of Use Tax in California and South Dakota. I believe that the procedures listed would apply to most states that impose a Use Tax.
What is Use Tax?
Use Tax is the term used to describe the “Sales Tax Equivalent” that applies when an organization purchases a taxable item/items from a vendor and the invoice for the purchase does not contain a charge for the appropriate sales tax. The amount of the Use Tax is typically the same amount as the Sales Tax…1 voteHi 👋 your idea is being looked into by our Community team. Profit & Loss - Ability to delete line items when creating custom Profit and Loss reports
Hi, it would be amazing to have the ability to delete certain line items to create custom reports (eg - Profit and Loss). I currently need to export the full report into excel and manually delete the lines, but would be nice to have the option to do this in Xero custom reports
15 votesThanks for adding your feedback and votes to this idea. We understand the requests for the ability to delete line items from custom Profit & Loss reports, and we can see how this could help streamline reporting for some workflows.
The idea is currently in the Gaining Support stage, which means it’s open for the community to vote on and comment. These insights help our team gauge interest and guide future development priorities.
Feel free to keep sharing your thoughts or use cases to add more context.

The investment boost should not be included if the purchase date of the asset is before 22 May 2025
The investment boost should not be included if the purchase date of the asset is before 22 May 2025. I have tested this and if you choose the option for investment boost, Xero still applies investment boost to the asset despite the purchase date of the asset being before the entitlement date. This seems a lot easier to fix than a lot of improvements made to Xero.

Journal Report - Reversal Filtering and Visibility Enhancements
I would like to request improvements to the Journal Report to make it more user-friendly for accountants and bookkeepers.
Currently, reversal journals and their original entries appear together, which makes the report difficult to read and slows down review during month-end and year-end close.
Please consider adding these enhancements:
1. Preferred enhancement: Reversal Filters
Please add filter options to control visibility of reversal-related journals:
• Show or hide original journals
• Show or hide reversal journals
• View only normal (non-reversal) journals
This would keep the full audit trail intact, but make the report much cleaner and easier to analyze.…6 votesHi Wilianti, thanks for taking the time to share this idea. Your notes on reversal filtering and visual indicators help clarify how these enhancements could support your workflow.
We’ve moved your post into Gaining Support, which opens it up for community votes and comments. It is now up to the community to show their interest, and this gives us a clearer picture of how many users might benefit from changes like these.
We’ll update this thread when the idea gains traction and is reviewed further by the product team.

Winter Fuel Payments
It would be good to have a message pop up on the tax return if the winter fuel payment is not entered for income over £35,000. This now has to be entered on the 2025/2026 return.

GST Reconciliation Report - Save the filed amounts entries
AU There was a discrepancy between GST ac balance at EOQ on the Balance Sheet & the GST refund for the end of quarter BAS. Using the GST Reconciliation report would be a lot more helpful if the Filed Amounts could actually be saved and continuously show the correct unfiled running balance amount and the section "GST Account Summary " for unfiled GST was actually correct as a cumulative balance. I just did 3.5 years worth of GST Reconciliations and nothing saved so all the running balances are wrong and don't flow correctly from one year to the next -…
29 votesThank you for your candid feedback and engagement on this idea. The good news is we're actively working on a complete rebuild of this report on our new reporting platform ✨. This project is a top priority and is specifically designed to solve the issues you've raised. The new report will automatically pull in filed return amounts, allow you to drill down into transactions, and always show a correct, cumulative unfiled balance. We're in the development phase, and we’re also actively gathering feedback on the ability to make manual adjustments in the new report, which we know is a critical requirement. We are committed to delivering a report that makes this essential part of your workflow easier and more reliable. We'll be back with another update as we make progress 😊

AU Tax - Pre-filling Children's Private Health Insurance
Why does Xero not pre-fill the Private Health Insurance information of someone who is on their family's PHI?
i.e. a young adult/teenager who is still on their parents health insurance. (Code F on the tax return).I am having to manually enter the information every time I create a return for one, which is frustrating given that the information is already on their ATO pre-fill report, and it prefills fine for their parents.
6 votesHi Emily! We really appreciate your feedback on this. At this moment, the information we pull is directly from the ATO exclusively for one sole return, and so won't automatically fill into the young adult/teenagers return as you've found.
We've reviewed your idea and now it's up to the community to get behind and support it. Make sure you share your idea with any colleagues that this could benefit so they can add their vote too!
We'll keep an eye on any traction this gets in the community and will keep you updated if there are any updates. Thanks.

Reports – Add TIN and Address Columns in Reports for PH (BIR Compliance)
Hi Xero Team,
I would like to suggest a feature enhancement that would greatly benefit users in the Philippines.
Currently, when generating reports (such as Transaction Reports, General Ledger, or Contact-based reports), there is no option to display the Tax Identification Number (TIN) and registered address of contacts as columns.
Including TIN and address fields in report columns would significantly improve efficiency and accuracy in preparing BIR compliance reports such as:
- SLSP (Summary List of Sales and Purchases)
- QAP ( Quarterly Alphalist of Payees)
- SAWT (Summary Alphalist of Withholding Taxes)
At present, users need to manually extract or cross-reference this…

Reports - Ability to add other reports to Reconciliation Report Pack
Reconciliation Reports Pack add below reports:
1. Activity Statements report
2. Payroll Employee Summary report2 votesHi Sasha, thanks for bringing this idea to the community.
We can see how being able to add additional reports to the Reconciliation Reports Pack could make it easier to create a more complete reporting pack without needing to generate and combine reports separately.
I've updated the status of this idea to Gaining Support. If this is something you'd like to see, please continue to vote and share which reports you'd find most valuable to include in the pack.

BAS - Make draft bill creation optional when lodging BAS
To have the option to remove the draft bill feature when lodging your BAS through Xero. At the moment, the system automatically creates the draft bill when lodging your BAS and we are manually going back and deleting the draft bills.
It would be great to have option to disable this feature6 votesThanks for sharing your feedback on draft bill creation during BAS lodgement. We appreciate you explaining how this impacts your workflow.
We've reviewed your idea and now it's up to the community to get behind and support it. Make sure you share your idea with any colleagues that this could benefit so they can add their vote too!

Reporting - Ability to hide Formula Rows in reports if the result is zero
It would be great to be able to hide formula rows in reports where the result is a nil balance. Currently we get multiple repetitive total lines on reports when there is no activity cluttering up the reports unnecessarily.
4 votesHi Kerrin, thanks for raising this. It’s easy to see how automatically hiding custom formula rows with no activity would make reports cleaner and easier to read.
Without this option, reports can feel cluttered. That often means sharing something that looks busier than it needs to be, or exporting the report just to remove empty rows manually—extra work that defeats the purpose of using the report builder.
I’ve moved this idea to Gaining Support so we can better understand interest in more report-level formatting options. If you’re able to comment with the specific reports where this would be most useful, it’ll help other users understand the use case and help the idea gain traction.

AU Tax - Show lodgement error in a banner
Have the full expanded version of lodgment Error Codes shown on a return that does not lodge correctly so we have a quick, accurate understanding of what is needing to be adjusted.
2 votesHi Ali, thanks for putting this forward. We understand the ask to surface ATO error messages more prominently in the return screen, so users can quickly see what needs attention without needing to navigate through logs or other areas of Tax.
For now, ATO lodgement error messages can be viewed in the History section of the tax returns, with option to expand the error message for more details. These areas provide the full error details, although we appreciate this may involve additional navigation depending on your workflow.
To be upfront, we don't have any short term plans to change how this is currently displaying in Xero Tax. However, if this would improve your process, please add your vote and share any specific examples of how you’d expect this to work in your day-to-day filing so we can continue to gauge interest.

Reports - Ability to select multiple accounts when running the uncoded statement line report
Uncoded transaction report only allows you to pick all accounts or a single account in the filters.
I have a client who has 10 accounts but only half of them are current and non personal accounts. I either have to run the report 5 times or have the report being 13 pages long.
It would be good if we could select multiple accounts in the filters.
2 votesHi Victoria, thanks for sharing this idea. We understand that having the ability to select multiple bank accounts when running the Uncoded Statement Lines report could be useful for reviewing specific accounts without including all results.
The idea is to add a multi-select account filter for the Uncoded Statement Lines report, allowing users to choose specific accounts and create more focused reports for review.
We encourage the community to vote on this idea if you’d find this reporting improvement useful.

Profit & Loss - Show net profit before and after tax
Profit & Loss reporting MUST include before and after tax totals. The before tax number would also exclude non-deductible expenses such as Tax, IRD penalties, non-Deductible Entertainment. I use a custom section called Tax and Non-Deductilbe Expenses to calculate the after tax total.
This is incredibly important because clients look at the Profit number and think they a doing better than they actually are, especially if the tax expense number has not been generated which 99% of the time they look at this report. Having the space for Tax Expense to appear will make them aware of the need to…2 votesHi Dave, thanks for bringing this idea to the community. We understand why having net profit after tax displayed directly within Profit and Loss reports could be useful for preparing financial summaries or reviewing overall business performance.
The idea is to add a dedicated net profit after tax calculation line within the Profit and Loss report, allowing users to see the final after-tax position without needing to make manual adjustments or calculations.
We encourage the community to vote on this idea if you’d find this reporting improvement useful.

Reports - Show Expense Descriptions from Xero Me App in Account Transactions Report
When reviewing quarterly and annual figures from the Profit and Loss report’s account transactions, we currently have to click into each Xero Me app expense to see the description and confirm it’s coded correctly. Expenses entered via bank feeds or bills display descriptions properly in the Account Transactions report, but Xero Me submissions do not.
This inconsistency makes it difficult to quickly identify and verify transactions without drilling into each one. Competing platforms such as MYOB, QuickBooks, and HandiLedger display expense descriptions consistently, regardless of how the expense was entered.
An internal workaround suggests entering the description manually in the…

MTD for IT - Allow more than 10 tracking options for Landlords
Currently for businesses there is a restriction to report 10 categories for landlords. I have landlords with more than 10 properties and who want to report by property but the MTD submission won't allow more than 10.
Please can this be increased for landlords with a large property portfolio2 votes🌟 Thanks so much for sharing your idea with us, and for taking the time to explain how increasing the number of tracking options for MTD for Income Tax could make managing larger property portfolios easier in Xero.
We’ve reviewed your idea and moved it to Gaining Support so other community members can vote and comment on how this could improve their experience too. This helps our product team get a better understanding of the interest in this feature, the different customer scenarios it would support, and the impact it could have for those managing property income through MTD for IT.

Bank Reconciliation report - Show Separate Debit and Credit columns
Bank Reconciliation - With Separate Debit and Credit columns with their totals
Currently both DR and CR amounts show in one column. Would love to see them in their own columns when reporting. Also, a larger description/reference area would be great.

XPH - Sync Xero Organisation Details with Client record in XPH
When adding a new client to Practice Manager or HQ and creating a Xero Organisation to link to said client, the basic Organisation details (e.g. ABN, contact details, address details) should automatically pull through to save double entry. This should also work vice versa, when you create the Xero Organisation with all the client's contact details, then create the client in Practice Manager or HQ and link the two, these details should pull through to the corresponding details in PM/HQ
4 votesHi Jordan, thanks for sharing your idea here. We understand how updating client details in separate systems can add extra admin time.
A sync between Xero organisation details and Xero Partner Hub records could help keep information consistent and reduce manual update across your practice. We’ve moved this idea to Gaining Support so we can continue monitoring interest and share the feedback with our product teams.

Projects - Bulk Edit time entries for projects
Ability to enter search criteria for time entries and then make batch edits to the selected entries. Similar to the find and recode function for accounting transactions. Sometime projects change and/or split into multiple projects. Please add the ability to search for time entries by date, employee, project name, task, etc., and returning a list of the time entries that meet that criteria; select the time entries desired and then make bulk edits to the selected items.
6 votesHi Roger thanks for sharing your idea, and letting us know the changes that matter most for you. We can see how this idea can be helpful for some users. The best way indeed is to describe it as Find and recode for Projects. We've reviewed this idea and moved it to gaining support. Its upto the community now to get behind it. We will continue monitoring it for more traction.
