Reporting - Allow the "Bank Reconciliation Period" report to be run on open/draft periods
I'm looking to get more information from this report. Essentially, I'd like to combine "Bank Reconciliation Summary" with "Bank Summary" or "Reconcile Period" where there is an opening balance, add deposits, less withdrawals to get the bank statement balance, then add outstanding deposits and less outstanding withdrawals to get the book balance (balance on trial balance). It should display the source (account) currency and local (reporting) currency (as the "Bank Reconciliation Summary" already does).
2 votesHi Rodd, thanks for your suggestion. We understand how being able to run the Bank Reconciliation Period report before a period is locked could help with reviewing balances and identifying issues ahead of finalising the period. We’ll monitor the feedback and interest shared here.

Reporting - Include Invoice numbers for payable and receivable payments
Include Invoice numbers for payable payments and receivable payments in reports.
The information is available for payable invoices and receivable invoices but is missing for the payable payments and receivable payments. Reference information is carried through but not invoice number information.

US Tax: don't show tax rate for non-taxable items
US Tax: don't show tax rate for non-taxable items
Why is Sales Tax showing as a % for Shipping when shipping is set as not taxable?
I see there's a pop-up that says it's at 0% tax, but it's very confusing to the customer, showing a tax rate, and have explain that in fact Shipping Is not taxed
2 votesHey Andrew, thanks for raising this Idea with us, we appreciate the time taken to do this. Thanks for sharing this feedback. We understand why this is confusing when shipping is set as non-taxable, but a tax rate still appears on the invoice.
This idea has now moved to Gaining Support. This will allow us to monitor the Idea to better understand how much interest there is from other customers, which helps inform future prioritisation.
For now, there isn’t a change to share, but we’ll continue to track the feedback being added here.

UK Tax - Overseas company accounts and corporation tax return
We deal with Overseas companies and subsidiaries, Xero does not have recognise Overseas company number usually starts with FC123456, Xero does no recognise this and create corporation tax return. This is another deficiency of Xero which makes me look at other software.
2 votesThanks for sharing your feedback on overseas company number recognition. We appreciate you explaining how important this is for managing CT600 filings for overseas entities and subsidiaries.

Reporting - Allow file import or upload to the Published Reports for record-keeping
Import a completed year end file into Xero. Store in Custom report, can't be amended, as this represents the final published accounts. Would be great to keep a permanent copy here, like all of our previous Published reports, that we can no longer use due to a change in reporting standards (NZ changes to incorporated societies reporting requirements under XRB).
1 voteThanks for sharing more detail around your suggestion. We understand the request to upload prepared year-end reports into Xero's Published Reports so all final financial records can be stored in one place. Having the ability to keep these documents alongside reports created in Xero could make record keeping and year-end reporting easier.
In the meantime, you can upload completed reports to Files to keep them stored within your Xero organisation.

Reporting - Trial balance split by category
"Please provide or enable a template that allows the generation of a Trial Balance report with account groupings categorized under the same headings like Profit and Loss statement and Balance sheet."
10 votesThanks for sharing your idea, and letting us know the changes that matter most for you.
We've reviewed your idea to show the Trial Balance by category and now it's up to the community to get behind and support it.
In the meantime, did you know that you can group the Trial Balance by 'Account Class' or 'Account Type'? Whilst not the exact functionality requested, these options allow you to split the accounts up within the report.

NZ GST - Add Publish Function to new style GST report
Hi
I would like to request that we keep the publish button on the new GST layout. The new GST Return layout does not have the Publish to Reports function (this has been removed). The Publish Function is an important function for clients, bookkeepers and auditors to access all relevant publish reports in one place.188 votesHi team, thanks for continuing to share and support in this idea.
While our team has continued to consider this idea since our last update, being upfront with you all here we want to share that this isn't in our current roadmap and unlikely to be developed in the near term.
For this reason, we'll move this to Not in pipeline however should anything change this we'll certainly share an update with you all here.

Navigation - Practice Setting to set default for Favourite reports
Can the list of favourite reports be set to default to always include the Trial balance (at least with Advisor rights). As an accountant I always run a Trial balance report and have to manually set this as a favourite on every client I log into. I also regularly use the accountant transaction report and Aged payables and receivables which are already default favourites.
11 votesThanks for sharing on the new navigation with us here, Shirley. We'd like to get a sense of the interest in this from the community here and will keep a close eye on the traction.
If there are any updates we'll share with you here.

Fixed Asset Reconciliation report - Hide accounts
I would like to be able to hide accounts on the Fixed Asset reconciliation report so that I don't have a page full of Fixed Assets accounts that have no assets attached, and haven't been used for years.

Reporting: Aged Receivables - Add NZBN number
I would like to produce an Aged Receivable custom report that includes the NZBN number which is held in a contact file. While I can manually pull two reports and manipulate them in Excel, there is always room for error doing it this way.
3 votesThanks for sharing this idea. We appreciate you explaining how including NZBN numbers in the Aged Receivables report could streamline your workflow.

Reports - Trial Balance with OPENING / CLOSING balance and and Movement from GL Summary Report
Team Xero
currently TB report shows ending balances for current year in db/cr two columns AND in single column Clubbed up remaining balances +/- in when COMPANRED to previous periods.I propose/request IT to make TB more classic by
- showing ALL remaining balances in two columns DB/CR when comparing previous years
- OPENING and CLOSING balances columns to be available (year selected from starting of fiscal year Jan20xx)
- TB report to ALLOW us to SELECT RANGE of dates (Range based TB)
- MOVEMENT (total Debits Total Credits) for the selected DATE and/OR RANGE should be available. CURRENTLY this is available in GL…
23 votesHi Yaseen, thank you for this incredibly detailed and well-thought-out suggestion for the Trial Balance report.
We can see how much manual work you're doing, combining exports from the GL Summary Report, just to create a "classic" comparative Trial Balance for your auditors. That's exactly the kind of difficult workflow we want to help improve.
Your proposal to enhance the report with separate debit/credit columns for comparatives, clear opening/closing balances, and a movement column for a selected date range is very clear.
We're grateful for your engagement and for letting us know the changes that matter to you. We've reviewed your idea and now it can gain support from other community members. Depreciation Schedule - Adjustable Columns
Be able to expand or reduce the size of a column in the depreciation schedule.
We are finding when we add extra columns it is making the depreciation method column really large and you cant adjust it. Making the page stretched across longer that it needs to be.See attachment as an example.
10 votesAfter some testing, we discovered that downloading the file in Excel or Google Sheets format and then saving it as a PDF reduces the column size. While this may not be ideal, it can serve as a temporary workaround.

Reports - Add a dedicated QBCC Annual Financial Reporting package for Queensland construction licensees
A specific App or button for trades and construction businesses to use to produce the reports needed by the QBCC annually to be compliant and maintain their trade licenses. Annual compliance and reporting to QBCC for construction businesses is a complex procedure, but I am sure everything they ask us to produce is available in Xero. If Xero could create an easy method to provide this information at the click of a button, it would save a lot of time and money at the accountant's office. When you are not a numbers person but a tradie, the compulsory annual reporting…
1 voteHi Skubi, thanks for your feedback on this idea. We understand that having a dedicated QBCC Annual Financial Reporting package could make it easier for Queensland construction businesses to prepare the reports needed to meet their compliance requirements.
I've shifted this idea to Gaining Support so we can continue tracking interest. If this is something you'd like to see, please keep voting and share how a dedicated QBCC reporting package would support your reporting workflow.

Manual Journals - Ability to Sort and Filter search results
Currently you are unable to concurrently search and sort results in manual journals, and can only do one or the other. Searching resets the sort to default (newest first), and sorting clears search parameters.
Please consider adding the ability to do both.
15 votesHey Jon, thanks for sharing this idea. Being able to sort and filter manual journals from the Manual Journals screen would make things a lot easier, especially when you're trying to track something down quickly.
We really appreciate you calling out how this could save time and help streamline your workflow. While some sorting/filtering is possible via the Manual Journal screen, we get that it’s not quite the same and adds a few extra steps.
This idea’s now in the Gaining Support stage. Every vote and comment helps us understand how useful this would be for the wider Xero community and gives our product team more insight when planning what’s next.

AU Tax - Depreciation worksheets
You can't create a stand-alone worksheet for depreciable assets then feed the figures to a chosen label. Depreciation has to be created within the label e.g. rental worksheet/D5/D1. For assets created within a rental schedule you can print nice depreciation worksheets. For assets created at other labels, you sometimes can't print a nice worksheet and the information displayed at the label is limited. The assets worksheets attached to a rental property in a Trust return doesn't show the cost or acquisition date of each asset.

Account Transaction report - Preview attached files without having to drill into transaction
It would be great if we could add a "files" column to account transactions to view attached files without the need to drill into each separate transaction. This feature is already available in VAT returns.
15 votesJust to check, would this be from the Account transactions tab of a bank account or from the Account Transactions report?

Profit & Loss - Option to use monthly average exchange rates for multi-currency reporting
When looking at the profit for the current year in a multi currency situation, Xero just uses the conversion date of the report for the lump sum of the year, rather than the exchange rate from each month and then adding them together. This means anyone who has been entering the info into a larger group on a month by month basis has to consistently make forex adjustments, even though they have used the Xero rates of exchange in all the prior months P&L's.
1 voteHi everyone, thanks for sharing this suggestion. The idea is to have the report reflect the historical monthly exchange rates already used in prior period reporting, helping reduce the need for manual foreign exchange adjustments when consolidating financial information.
Thanks again for sharing this feedback. We appreciate the examples from the community around how this could make multi-currency reporting more consistent.

UK Tax - Importing Rental Income to Xero Tax
Following the introduction to MTD for ITSA, we will be reporting a number of clients rental income to HMRC using Xero, which we previously did not. As a result of MTD for ITSA we will be preparing more Tax Returns using Xero Tax.
It is currently not possible to import rental income & expenses, from a client's Xero account directly to Xero Tax (where as you can for sole trade businesses). Unfortunately these figures need to be typed in manually.
Would it be possible to add this feature into Xero Tax?
3 votesThanks for sharing your idea of importing rental income into the personal tax return.
We've reviewed your idea and now it's up to the community to get behind and support it.
It is worth noting that our MTD for IT functionality will include the option to include rental income/expenses and will utilise tracking categories to do this.

Reporting - Allow the "Income and Expenses by Contact" report to be run on a Cash Basis
Please allow the option to show the Income and Expense by Client Report in CASH BASIS, so that we can see this report by the amounts PAID by the client this month, not just INVOICED to the client this month.
Thank you!!
2 votesHi Emily, we understand that for businesses using cash accounting, it’s helpful to see income and expenses based on when money is actually received or paid.
We hear the request to run the “Income and Expenses by Contact” report on a cash basis so you can more easily review what’s been paid and collected per contact in a given period.
We’ve moved this to Gaining Support so we can track interest and help our product teams consider adding a cash basis option to this report.
