  1. From the P&L report when opening a specific income/expense account, the list of transactions under that account shows at the bottom "Showing items" number, this number includes the first line (title) and last two totals, which can be misleading if one wants to count the number of transactions.
    I'd suggest the "showing items" number to only indicate number of transactions.

  2. It would be great if we could add a "files" column to account transactions to view attached files without the need to drill into each separate transaction. This feature is already available in VAT returns.

  3. Add tab toggling over 2 windows so that one can make back-end amendments and go straight back to reviewing an accounting report.

    To supplement month-end/year-end review and sign offs, add a feature for Review Comments and Tracking.

    Hi everyone, thanks for sharing this suggestion. We understand you’re looking for an internal comment and query workflow within reports, so teams can discuss findings and review items without needing to move between different tools.

    Having collaboration features built into reports could help make review processes more connected and keep conversations closer to the work being completed.

  5. The Tax summary table in the tax return needs to show the 7th May provisional still owing as seperate to the remainder being due for terminal 7th April. Currently itt is grouped all in terminal meaning it is incorrect as doesnt show clients they need to pay an amount a year earlier

    Hi Gary, thanks for sharing this suggestion. We understand you’re looking for payment summaries and letters to show 7 May Provisional Tax and 7 April Terminal Tax as separate items, rather than combining them.

    Having these tax obligations separated could make it easier to review amounts and communicate payment details to clients during busy compliance periods.

  6. You can't create a stand-alone worksheet for depreciable assets then feed the figures to a chosen label. Depreciation has to be created within the label e.g. rental worksheet/D5/D1. For assets created within a rental schedule you can print nice depreciation worksheets. For assets created at other labels, you sometimes can't print a nice worksheet and the information displayed at the label is limited. The assets worksheets attached to a rental property in a Trust return doesn't show the cost or acquisition date of each asset.

  7. To confirm, there isn’t currently a way to move the Supplementary income section so that it appears straight after the main Income section in the printed ITR.
    When using the new layout, Xero Tax does let you customise print settings, but this only lets you choose which main sections to print and reorder the sections that are available in the print pack, but it doesn’t let you change the internal order of the Individual return such as the Supplementary income section.

    This makes it difficult if you quickly want to look in the ITR and review all of the income…

    Hi Carly, thanks for raising this idea.

    We can see how placing the Supplementary Income section directly after the main Income section could create a more consistent reading flow and reduce the need to move back and forth between pages during reviews.

    I’ve moved this idea to Gaining Support so we can continue tracking interest and share the feedback with our product teams.

  8. A slight bug found - I just had a supplier ask why we had charged less for the last 2 months. I checked and it looks like Xero defaulted to "GST Inclusive" invoices when copying an invoice that is GST-Exclusive, even when:

    1) the previous Invoice is set to "GST Exclusive"
    2) the Financial settings, tax defaults, For sales is set to for"Based on last sale"
    3) Note - No Contact defaults for GST set.

    Somehow, my $500 + GST invoices = $575 has been reduced to $500 including GST.

    Previously Xero would copy over the invoice exactly, but now…

    Hi everyone, thanks for sharing your feedback on this idea. We can see why this would be useful. We have reviewed this idea and can see that currently when you copy an invoice, the financial settings of the organisation take precedence over the settings from the original invoice. This idea is now in Gaining support status, which means it's open for community votes and comments while we monitor interest from users.

    Hi team, appreciate coming into Xero Support after our recent update here and apologies for any confusion.

    To confirm, there is no way to add letters into 'Numbered heading' atm.

    An option for now may be to add letters to the front of your schedule heading, however appreciate this this is a little different from the formatting you're trying to achieve here.

    While this isn't something we have direct plans for right now, we'll start to get a sense of the wider interest from others in this here and share if there are any updates. Thanks

  10. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.

    With the old style and the new style, there doesn't appear to be a way to show the journal with GST rate - it only shows the total GST as an extra line at the bottom of the journal.

    And while I'm requesting features that'll never be implemented, why not offer the ability to show journals Gross of GST (as well as the GST rate).

  12. Every new year tax year (1 April) the reports for the previous year that we are still using ie 31 March 2025 automatically change to the 31 March of the current year ie 31 March 2027 and the Last Financial year changes to 1 April 2025 to 31 March 2026.
    In the drop down box for the Pack Date Range Custom would it be possible to add a Last financial year -1 so that it reads the date range for the previous year that we are still compiling for ie: Date range 1 April 2024 to 31 March 2025.

    Thanks for taking the time to explain how you’re using the Pack date range and why you’d like a “Last financial year -1” option. This isn’t something we’re actively working on right now, so we’re moving your idea to Gaining support. This lets other partners and small businesses add their vote and specific scenarios, which helps our product teams understand how many people are impacted and how this should be prioritised alongside other reporting work.

    In the meantime, the best available workaround is to set the prior year using a Custom date range and reuse that report pack where possible.

  13. The statutory profit and loss account includes the wording "cost of raw materials and consumables" in the Cost of Sales section. This makes no sense for my clients in the service industry. Can we not have a tag named "Cost of Sales" or "Purchases" which is more generic and applies better to direct expenses attributable to sales in the service industry?

  14. This is a known issue that needs to be voted on to be prioritized.

    The Auto Sales Tax feature in Xero (from Avalara) disallows the ability to edit an Invoice account category. This is a huge limitation that will have massive repercussions as time goes on. Please fix this promptly.

  16. Following the introduction to MTD for ITSA, we will be reporting a number of clients rental income to HMRC using Xero, which we previously did not. As a result of MTD for ITSA we will be preparing more Tax Returns using Xero Tax.

    It is currently not possible to import rental income & expenses, from a client's Xero account directly to Xero Tax (where as you can for sole trade businesses). Unfortunately these figures need to be typed in manually.

    Would it be possible to add this feature into Xero Tax?

It is crucial to be able to print or email statements to multiple or all contacts with received money transactions at once showing each received money transaction for the contact in a time period on individual/separate pages by contact. This is really needed functionality because any nonprofit entity needs to send giving/donation statements at year end. I have tried multiple reports and statements. I can create an Account Transactions report showing all the clients and the received money entries, but it doesn't allow me to separate contact on their own page.   19. Dropdown list of Tax Return items.

    Hi Xero Team,

    I’d like to suggest a possible enhancement to the Tax Returns section for easier navigation.

    Would it be possible to add dropdowns (or expandable lists) that show all tax return items within each section, similar to the attached example? This would make it much easier to jump directly to specific items instead of scrolling through the full return.

    For example, having a dropdown list for all income categories, deductions, offsets, and other tax return items would help users quickly locate the exact section they need, especially when reviewing or updating multiple…

  20. We need to be able to select "All Dates" on a report. ex. I want to see a report for a certain account from the start of my business to the current date. now I need to select beginning date and then todays date and the update.

    For anyone looking to achieve this now, you can view transactions across all time by selecting a custom date range in your reports. By setting the start date to your organisation's first transaction date and the end date to today, you can get a full historical view of your data.

    We see the value in your suggestion to add a preset 'All Time' or 'All Dates' option, which would make this process a faster, one-click action.
