Reporting - Automatic generation and emailing of reports
Automatically send email reports every month.
Purpose: Users can set up recurring reports to the dedicated person consistently at the same date.
Hi community, thanks so much for all the interest we received. The teams interview spots filled up quickly and they are now fully booked.
Apologies if you didn't manage to sign up to one of the interviews — We really appreciate your enthusiasm and may reopen the link for future research rounds. We will make sure to update here if there's more opportunity.
We will be back to share outcomes from the teams exploration.

My team and I didn't realise how much we relied on reports being generated and landing in our inbox until we left QuickBooks and started using Xero. This function kept our team informed and reduced the admin time of downloading and manually emailing reports. It's frustrating not to be able to share essential data so effortlessly. I'd gladly trial this automation and give feedback based on my experience. Well done on everything else, Xero!

Ability to schedule a customised report to email to designated stake holder to save the job of downloading reports and email to colleagues. Don't know if this is in Xero's interest, but usually Directory level stake holders don't go onto Xero to check the reports themselves, they hardly every log into Xero. The reports have to be manually downloaded and send through email. Customised reports are great as literally we just need to go into the saved cusotmised report and run it then download. Shouldn't that last step also be automated to just schedule the repot to be sent to stake holder periodically, then they can receive it in their email to review as scheduled.

I tried to sign up for a time, but it says you are fully booked. I'm still interested in trialling this if you can open up additional dates and times.

Great news! I'd like to participate, however I received the message that it's all booked but I should reply if I'm interested, however there was no email to reply to. Looking forward to testing this and getting this live!!

Great to hear that this may happen - I tried to sign up - it shows as fully booked but please reply if you would still like to participate, it doesn't give an email or option to reply to.

Being able to email reports including P&L and balance sheets would be life changing. To set these up to auto send at a day and time would make a world of difference and save so much time.

Being able to email reports, especially payroll, P&L and balance sheet reports would be invaluable for us. Much more secure and time saving. Please, please make this happen.

This is basic critical functionality which should be included in Xero. 2 years later it appears to still be missing. Please add to the development roadmap as an important function!

Just basic functionality. Surprised it wasn't done years ago.

This would save an enormous amount of time and none of the 3rd party APIs so far feel value for money/trustworthy. With the new JAX feature and logins using email addresses already it feels like a relatively simple feature to add, and would help me swallow price increases.

Reporting - Automatic generation and emailing of reports - it's not currently on our development roadmap with a specific timeframe?
any update as Quick books is way ahead of you on this, I use that for another company and is such a good feature it is a temptation now to switch all companies away from Xero to Quickbooks -

Particularly relevant when you can't generate a project profitability report. System can't handle the current load and thus 90% of the time the report does not run. Either increase resource on the server or allow reported to be scheduled.

Don't understand how Xero doesn't already have this, basic reporting function that has been implemented by many far less technical programs

Been the top request for a significant amount of time now. Clear that Xero doesn't listen to what its users actually want.
Sage, NetSuite, QuickBooks all offer this - even new systems like Rillet, Campfire & Digits have it! Clearly its a core feature that should be included in any accounting system.

The only reason I can see for Xero not implementing this simple additional functionality (because emailing of invoices and statements already exists, so the core functionality is there) is that they generate significant additional revenue from people using 3rd party connected software to do this. The issue is that their competitors offer it as core functionality, which makes Xero seem like they're lagging the competition. For a small business that can't afford to pay a lot more a year for this, Xero is increasingly seeming to be a poor choice of accounting software.

Put simply we want push reporting.

Sorry - my ChatGPT imagined things from the product literature and chat rooms and has admitted such. I have deleted my posts where it wrongly thought there was a classic reporting function which included emailing reports and it wrongly thought that the new free Syft integration allows the scheduling of emails. It does not. We have to buy the whole app. Will Xero be integrating the automatic emailing of reports?

This is something which would go a long way to solving the problem of segregated access not being properly possible - i.e. the need for project managers to see data down to the gross profit level but no further is a real problem which we have not yet found a satisifactory solution to. I am looking at Syft but it cannot show sales or cost figure breakdowns and updates once a day rather than being live (you can update manually at any point but that does not work with emails being sent out automatically).

If you don’t want to pay your coders to write the code, use AI and then tweak.
Please can this be actioned and implemented. My current EPOS has this facility and it’s over 25 years old, and hasn’t not been significantly rewritten and updated. I have multiple reports setup for end of month emailing. Saves me time, hassle and money!
What needs to happen for you to listen to your customers. If it wasn’t for the fact my book keeper has never used anything else, I’d switch to another program.

With multiple companies consolidated via Joiin we spend about £6k per year with Xero but have to use Joiin to do the reporting. This disenfranchises the company managers who have to rely on head office to set up their Joiin reporting. We're not going to buy Syft as we've invested a lot in getting Joiin up work
