Hi everyone, while we appreciate and initially provided a solution for the idea here within the new invoicing email modal, we wanted to return as after further testing this feature has needed to be removed.
That said, we know being able to add basic formatting to your emails is important to some of our customers and while the tool bar has been removed you can still add basic html formatting to your emails to bold, add italics or underline text within the invoice emails you send to customers.
- Bold = <b> and </b>
- Italics = <i> and </i>
- Underline = <u> and </u>
We understand not all customers are familiar with these tags so I've added an example image that shows the different tags that can be added and how these will show instantly within the email preview so you can make sure you email looks as you expect.
If…

Thank you for your on-going input and attention to the idea here, everyone.
We will keep you updated on change for being able to add new tracking options when using new invoicing here, however if there are other items that you'd like to see developed please do make sure you've joined and are following updates for these too.
I can confirm our team have work underway to improve the line item grid where you enter detail of your invoice. Part of this work includes the ability to add new tracking options without navigating away from the invoice.
For now we'll move this idea to working on it and I'll be back to share when there's more news of this going live for you all.

Hi everyone, we thoroughly appreciate all the feedback we've heard from our customers on their use of the Xero network and the importance this is for helping you move efficiently when using new invoicing. Where possible we highly encourage setting up and using eInvoicing as a solution which is wider reaching than just those businesses on Xero, and has more functionality.
In it's current state you can continue to send invoices using the Xero Network from the Awaiting payments list. That said, we've been listening closely and our product team are now considering development to incorporate sending invoices from Xero to Xero within new invoicing, as well as developing on this feature to enable attachments to be included when sending. We'll shift the idea to Under review for now and I'll share as there is more progression of this to update you on.

Hi team, while we don't have immediate plans to change the placement of buttons on new invoicing we're interested in staying close to this feedback and I'll move the idea to Under review for the time being. We'll return to confirm any outcomes.
An error occurred while saving the comment Andrew Syme commentedCan someone please explain this request to me ?
New Invoicing has Auto Save. So All changes are automatically saved unless there is no Contact. Xero will not save an Invoice without a contact.
When does anyone intend to use the Save Button ?
As for Save and Close, What point ? Just click on the Breadcrumbs to get back to Invoices.Andrew Syme supported this idea · -

Hi team, thanks for your contribution and sharing with us on your use of being able to see levels of stock when invoicing. Right now, our team are developing improvements to the line item grid in new invoicing, where you enter detail of your invoices. This work also involves providing visibility of your tracked inventory stock on hand so you know how many items you have to sell.
For now we'll move to working on it and I'll keep you updated of when this is released in new invoicing.

Hi everyone, some time on since my last update I wanted to give you more of an idea of the work we have going on to help reduce the number of steps and actions in new invoicing. Along with the changes mentioned in my last update, we've since released a change to the view of an invoice to shift details back into their own columns (similar to classic), while a small change we know it's improved visibility for some of our customers.
We also have other work in development atm that’ll further help here like a new line item grid when editing your invoice - wrapped up in this we’ll be introducing changes you’ve been asking for like the ability to create a new tracking option or account code without having to navigate away from the invoice, we’re increasing the number of items that you can view from the drop…
An error occurred while saving the comment Andrew Syme commented@Glenda Brown. The Function to add new tracking Options is already there.
An error occurred while saving the comment Andrew Syme commentedUst a quick note to all those that want the Classic version to continue. I'm sure that Xero would be happy to consider this as long as you agree that any errors or bugs will not be fixed.
The first function to fail, I suspect will be the Xero to Xero Network as it is decommisioned.
The second failure will be with Contacts as the changes for Multiple Delivery Addresses is rolled out.
The Third function to fail, will be repeating Invoices being accessible in Classic, as the changes to contacts are rolled thru.
and on and on it goes.So Please, Be careful what you wish for !!
An error occurred while saving the comment Andrew Syme commented@Rae Stanton. Can you please explain how this is a bug ? It behaves as I would expect. Once a Contact has been entered, the Invoice is auto saved and the Invoice number control is progressed by 1. Until a Contact is entered, the invoice cannot be saved, therefore the invoice number control is NOT updated.

Thanks for sharing and feeding back through this idea, community. While our team are reviewing the behaviours of date fields in new invoicing - It may help to clarify how due date works in conjunction with defaults to define how these are working in your organisation at present. Basically put, every time you change an Issue date this influences the Due date, which is a slight change to classic invoicing.
Currently, there are two defaults that can be set in Xero, within Invoice Settings and within an individual Contact records.
Invoice Settings due date is a blanket for any invoice raised in the org, if you set a Contact due date this will override the Invoice Settings due date when you select that Contact when invoicing.
When you change the Due date of an invoice, and then edit it's Issue date this will trigger any defaults you have set up…
An error occurred while saving the comment Andrew Syme commentedHi Terri Orozco, Can you explain a bit further what isn't working for you. For me, the default terms on a new invoice are correctly calculated from today, which covers approx 90% of use cases. Its only after I modify the invoice date that I then need to adjust the due date by whatever number of days relative to today that I changed the invoice date. Very easy to do using the date picker.

Hi team, thanks for sharing and showing your interest on the idea, here. Atm our product team are doing some work to improve the line item grid and as part of this the item field will also see some improvement. Once the changes are released for the edit page you'll be able to view more items for each drop down option in the grid.
I'll keep you updated of the release for this here.

Thanks for your engagement here, Charl. While not a complete solution you may find the use of the 'Home' button on your keyboard helps you quickly navigat back up the page 🙂

Thanks to everyone that participated in and shared back on the team’s research in the new invoicing layout. Taking your feedback on board our teams have made some improvements to the layout of new invoicing, including changes to the layout of fields and buttons.
By rearranging and condensing space between fields, you’ll find there is less white space than previously shown, making it easier to navigate and tab through fields when entering your invoices. We’re actively looking into changes within the invoicing grid that’ll go further to condensing information on the screen and reducing actions when entering your invoices. We’ll update as there is more information to share on this.

Is there a specific element / field of the transactions that you're trying to search by?
Currently there are a range of details that you can search by and Xero will return results for transactions that have been entered in your org (reconciled or unreconciled)

Hi all, I wanted to share that while there's no export option on the Account Transactions screen itself, it is possible to export a list of unreconciled Account Transactions with the Business Bank Account Reconciliation Summary report. If you export a copy of this to Excel you'll find the sections for Plus Outstanding Payments and Less Outstanding Receipts which are the unreconciled account transactions. Hope that helps 😊

Hi team, appreciate the feedback we've received on this, here. While I've made sure to share the needs back with our team, I also wanted to highlight how you can make sure you keep a copy of your file in your library for now.
If you shift files to a folder when you upload them to Xero, they will remain in the folder once you add them to a new invoice. So, this way you have it both attached to the invoice and available in the files library.
An error occurred while saving the comment Andrew Syme commentedHi Kelly,
Thankyou for that useful tip. But the Attach to NEW Invoice DOESN'T WORK from the files or from a folder. The screen goes to the invoice, but it doesn't attach it as there is no contact. Please see product IdeaAndrew Syme shared this idea · -

@Allison Casey, I do not understand your Issue. Can you please expand your explanation. I can add new tracking categories 'On The Fly' albeit in a separate Tab, but the New Invoice pull down list refreshes. Yes, it still has performance issues, but it works.
If you are creating new categories that often, I wonder if you are using or abusing the software. Its NOT a job costing / Recovery system.
