Thanks for raising this idea. We understand the request for Tax Manager to reflect a more logical tax return workflow, with clearer status stages and easier navigation.
I’ve moved the core suggestion to Gaining Support so we can continue tracking community interest.
There are also a number of other suggestions included in this post. To ensure each can be considered and voted on independently, please create separate ideas for the additional improvements, including status counts, horizontal stage navigation, and lodgement outcome flags.

Hi team, we appreciate the interest surrounding this idea and how having the ability to identify assets that investment boost has been applied to would be useful from the Depreciation schedule.
Right now, IR10 in NZ tax will import Investment Boost directly from Fixed Assets if there is an organisation.
Being upfront, adding this to reports within an organisation isn't currently on our roadmap, but we understand how this would be useful in this reporting and will continue to consider this in future product planning. I'll share if there are any updates for you here.

While we await Xero updates on this, meantime, you can at least review the full list of registered assets in Xero that have investment boost claimed by clicking on the 3 dots in the fixed assets screen, click "export". Investment Boost is one of the columns in this spreadsheet. You can then use a formula to calculate the amount for the IR10 disclosure that is currently not pre-populating in Xero tax.
Whilst this would also be a helpful column option in the depreciation schedule report, it is not yet showing there.

As an accountant, I frequently need to access several of the submenus in accounting settings many times a day, such as financial settings, report codes and report fields (and tracking already mentioned above). These used to be available directly from the top menu, and now I have to click into accounting settings to find the relevant sub-menu which is really annoying. I would like the ability to star "favourite accounting settings" so that they appear on the top menu for quick access (like we can do for the reports menu).

Thanks for raising your feedback with us here. It's really good to understand what's important to help our customers working in Xero.
If possible it'd be great to get more detail as to why you're often needing to access the Tracking Settings? In many places you'll find that you can add new tracking options for a category while on the go and entering transactions in your org, so would appreciate deeper understandings of your business flows here.

Hi community, thanks so much for the great feedback so far. The changes to Tier 3 reporting standards - especially around grant categorisation are clearly important, and it’s great to see this idea gaining momentum quickly.
This request is now in the Gaining Support stage, so it’s on our radar for further consideration. If you’re using Tier 3 reporting, we’d love to hear more about what specific features or improvements would help you most. Your input really helps guide the product team’s priorities.
Please keep the votes and comments coming. We’ll be sure to share updates here as we learn more. Thanks again for being part of the conversation!

Hi everyone, thanks for your continued engagement and support for the idea of making tracking categories mandatory in Xero. We really appreciate you sharing your insights on the benefits that adding this feature would bring to your financial reporting and month-end processes.
Right now, you could use find and recode to assign a tracking option to any transaction lines that are currently unassigned.
Regarding the future of this idea, we've carefully reviewed all your feedback and the critical need you've expressed for this feature. While we understand the value and time-saving potential this improvement would bring, we want to be transparent that making tracking categories mandatory across all relevant transactions isn't on our roadmap for development. If our position of this changes in time, we'll share an update for everyone, here.

Hi everyone, thanks for the feedback. We recognise that a timesheet summary report would be a valuable addition to NZ Payroll.
This idea has been moved to our Accepted for future consideration.
While it isn’t currently on our roadmap, we’ll check back in here if that status changes.
We appreciate you continuing to share how this would impact your workflows

Hi everyone, a year on from my last engagement we wanted to provide an update for you all here.
As many will be across we're in the midst of making a lot of iterations and improvements to new invoicing leading up to the retirement of classic invoicing in September (2024).
We have a fair amount of work lined up in the teams schedule over the coming months and to give an indication there isn't any committed plans around a function to add interest to invoices.
That said, we do have a team that have picked up and are considering how we might solve this with the technology in new invoicing - It's early days on this yet, but I'll share if there's any progress on this for you all here.
In the meantime, as has been shared by others over time there are a few ways you could accomplish this…

Hi team, thank you for your thorough feedback in this idea. We appreciate there are different preferences our users have when approving invoices in Xero and just to re-highlight - there are now keyboard shortcuts available for most action buttons in invoicing to help navigate and quickly select the option you prefer rather than the drop down selection.
Though we understand it is not the news you're hoping here we want to be transparent that there are no plans at this stage to add the ability to set your own default for the Approve button in invoicing.
We will continue to track the support this idea keeps building and be sure to let you know if there is any change to the status of this idea, here.

It is very common for invoices to be approved by one person in a business, but emailed out by a different person (for checking correct email address and using different email template options for example). So now we have to click more times to find the "approve" button. Please introduce ability to change the default button - this would give us choice and suit everyone's needs.

Hi everyone, thanks for sharing your feedback on pre-tax deductions for salary sacrifice schemes like WorkRide. We appreciate you sharing how you’re currently managing these.
Currently you can achieve the result of a pre-tax deduction in Xero payroll by using a Discretionary Payment category pay item and entering the deduction amount as a negative figure. Gross earnings are effectively reduced, eliminating the need for PAYE adjustments.
We recognise that this workaround may not be a perfect fit for all schemes. While this feature is not yet on our immediate roadmap, we have updated its status to Accepted. This ensures it is flagged for formal consideration by our product team during future planning cycles. We'll keep you updated as things progress and value your continued input.

The WorkRide Scheme prides itself on being fully tax compliant according to the scheme website, so Xero Payroll needs to address this urgently otherwise it is not providing tax compliant outcome for employers.

Hi everyone, right now the only way to edit a cover page in Xero is when you're publishing the report template.
Then you can change the Title, Date and Prepared by options. To further change the cover page, you can export the report template to a PDF file and customise it using a PDF editor. This would also be an option for editing the page numbers
We made some changes in Report styles for our new reports in 2021, though this is only for practice users - They now have the option to choose from four font sizes, and can add a text watermark to exported draft and published reports.
We don't have plans to develop this functionality further in Xero atm, but we'll keep you updated if our plans change.

I need to quickly navigate between multiple tabs open on my browser and the more tabs I have open, the less clear it is what they relate to because very little text shows up. Under the old XPM screen, the tab for Xero tax appeared with a green icon so I could easily use the visual cue to switch between a Xero tax tab and classic workpapers. The new partner hub including tax has black tab icons very similar to Xero classic workpapers (slightly grey) and it's very unclear which tab is which. See attached.
Please make the tab colour of Xero workpapers totally different to Xero tax (or customisable).
