Hi everyone, thanks for your interest in this idea.
For now, I wanted to share that we're aware some users have the following process to record their transactions. The example uses a vehicle with a purchase price of £1500, and a sale price of £2000.
- Record the purchase of the vehicle on a purchase Bill for the full purchase price of £1500 with a tax rate of VAT Exempt. So the purchase is recorded in box 7 on the VAT return.
- Record the sale of the vehicle on an Invoice for the full £2000 - using the Tax Exclusive option, and then manually changing the VAT calculated to the required amount - £83.33 (i.e. 20% on the profit of £416.87 or 1/6 of £500) by clicking the small plus box above the Tax Rate.
This will mean that you only charge £83.33 VAT for the overall profit figure, and ensuring the correct amounts are reflected in boxes 1, 3, 5 and 6.

Hi all, wanted to share a workaround here for those who aren't already aware.
You can run the Account Transactions report on a cash basis and if you filter it by the CIS Labour Income or CIS Asset account, you can see the invoices which have been included in the CIS Suffered report.
We don’t have any plans in the near term to expand functionality on the CIS Suffered report. If anything changes in this space, we’ll update you on this idea!

Hi Jessica
I've just seen your comment and wondered if you've tried using contact groups to group your contacts into the two types of clients. That way you can filter the Aged Receivables by the contact group !!!
You can also filter the report by tracking category. :-)
Not sure if this helps you, and hope you don't mind the suggestion.
Elaine :-)

Being able to list the costs assigned to a project by expense category is a requirement by our client, and I'm disappointed to learn that this is not a feature.
Hoping that this can be brought in very soon.Elaine Hardy supported this idea ·

I have a client in a similar position.
They have employees who are automatically enrolled into the main scheme and then given the option to salary sacrifice.
Most employees opt for the salary sacrifice, but this isn't included on the pension filing report as it's not the main scheme so most of the data is missing from the file.
I can't use the salary sacrifice scheme as the main one, as they would automatically be enrolled into that scheme when they join, which isn't correct.
I understand that this has probably been set up this way to allow for pension contributions which go to a different provider, but the client is finding it very confusing that the reports are wrong.
I feel there should be a way to link to pension pay item manually added to the payroll to the main pension provider so the pension filings report is correct......

HI team, appreciate not directly within the Customer statement at present and being open we don't have immediate change planned for adding this to the customer statement. However, for the time being you could look to run the Customer Invoice Activity report which has a few more options for the columns and detail shown.
Once you've set up as you like you could save as Custom to make this readily available in your org and export to share externally with a customer/client.

I have a client who is requesting this functionality please.
Their customers have complained that this is not available on the statement.
Thank you.

Hi
I have had a client requesting the same. It make it easier for the customer to establish the balanace on account at the end of a set period and for the client to establish what has been paid to them.

Hi community, we appreciate the continued attention this idea is receiving. While our team will continue to review this idea, Xero Tax remains a Partner only product with tools and capabilities that help Xero Partners serve their clients with ease, and we don't have immediate intentions of changing this. Again, we'd like to encourage that if you're not currently connected to a Xero Partner you can find one that can serve your advisor needs through our Advisor Directory. If there is any change planned we will update you of this, here.
Also to note, our current position on Xero Tax does not relate to our MTD IT program and we'll be providing further information for this separately on this idea. Thanks

I'm a digital advisor at an accountancy practice.
We have a client who has their own in-house accountant who has been using Sage Business Cloud to submit their corporation tax return and companies house return from the software.
Having reviewed Sage Business Cloud, I have found that this software doesn't work as well as as it could and would like to recommend Xero as this has better integration with all their other software. However, Xero not having this feature for business owners could make the difference. :-(
Hopefully Xero will review this decision at some point.

Appreciate the interest and hearing the use you have in seeing integrated apps your clients have connected.
As some will have received communication of some time back - we made the hard decision to retire Explorer in Xero HQ from 12 April, 2023.
Right now, if you'd like to see the apps a client has connected you can open the Xero organisation, go to settings and select Connected apps.
While this is something we may consider developing elsewhere in Xero HQ down the road, it isn't in the teams plans right now. We'll continue to track interest here, and let you know if there is any change surrounding this to share. Thanks

I agree that it would be useful to share these.
I have a client who has bought a company and wants me to copy their customized reports from the original company over to their new company, but unfortunately that can't be done, and so I'll have to create all 11 reports in the new company, not ideal. :-(

This would be a great feature for our clients. I understand that payroll reports contain sensitive data, and therefore probably can't sit in the customized folder, but it would be great if there was a solution.

Hi everyone, appreciate this idea has been in a state of Under review fro some time. While it was something our teams we're looking into, this work has had to be put down with other priorities that have transcended.
For now, we'll shift back to 'submitted' where we can continue to track appetite. We'll be sure to let you know if there's any change in this space. Thanks

Hi community, we understand your needs in this feature and want to assure you were taking on board all your feedback.
As many of you accustom to this idea will know, multiple addresses requires a complex solution. It's been something we’ve been moving towards for some time and we’ve done a lot of back end work that will allow us to bring it to you in the future.
We have 12 different products within Xero that rely on contact data, as well as many of our app partners. This means that contacts need to seamlessly flow across technology, products and all connections on Xero. And that’s exactly what we’ve been working on.
One of the reasons we announced the retirement of classic invoicing is because many of the features being asked for, just can’t be brought into classic invoicing. The old technology has too many technology limitations to enable this.…

Hi everyone, we appreciate your input and sharing detail of how you'd like to see this developed to help suit the needs of your business.
We want to upfront that we don't have plans for developing this in the next year. However looking further out to the future, our teams will continue to review and consider how they might build inventory in Xero to cater for units of measure.
If you're after an immediate solution, it might be worth exploring connected apps that can integrate with Xero and cater for your business needs. As soon as there's any change or news around this to share we'll be sure to update our community and all of your interested in this, here.Elaine Hardy supported this idea ·

Having the facility to search by contact code or grouping is essential for our client. They have countless contacts, and some are grouped when payments will be made by one entity for 100's of invoices spread over several different contacts. We haven't been able to find a way to to easily record the remittance as we need we're not able to filter the search in such a way that outstanding invoices for this group can be selected. This is making this job very time consuming.

Thanks for your contributions and voting on this idea, community. While we're seriously taking on board your feedback for how and why being able to hold selections across pages would be helpful when processing batch payments, we want to be open that this isn't a focus area for product at this time.
We'll continually reassess ideas where there's opportunity, so please keep adding your votes and interest, here. If there's any development planned we'll be certain to share this with you all.

Hi, this would be very useful to our clients who have large supplier payment runs as they are currently having to raise these in several smaller batches.

Hi, this idea would be useful to us, as we have clients who have 100's of sales invoices on repeating invoice, but these are sent to draft and are amended prior to being sent to the customer on the first day of the month. It would be good if we could send then to draft earlier that the invoice date, without having to amend the date.

this would be a good feature for us, as we have a client who has 100's of repeating invoices which go to draft 1st of each month. These are amended and sent out, but on some occasions we've needed to start the process earlier and we can't do that without amending all the dates on the repeating invoices.
We are finding it fiddly to reconcile the amounts held in the two CIS control accounts on the balance sheet to the CIS return and CIS suffered report.
As CIS tax deducted is included on the CIS return at the point it is paid, then there can be a gap where the amount on the TB in the CIS Liability account does not reflect the amount on the return.
It would be useful to be able to run a report to show CIS tax deducted from the purchase invoices which haven't been included on the return (i.e. unpaid purchase invoices). This could be in the form of a column on the Aged Payables report grouped by contact group (Sub-Contractors) which shows the amount of CIS tax not yet deducted from the sub-contractor; and visa versa for CIS suffered.
At the moment we are running this report, exporting it to Excel and then manually adding a column and the amount of CIS tax not yet included on the return. Would be good if we could remove this manual process, and I'm open to suggestions if anyone has a better way to do this.
Thanking you in anticipation.
