Hi community, we appreciate you engaging and letting us know the importance of drag and dropping files into your invoices.
Since the release of the attach files feature within new invoicing our teams have being paying close attention to feedback and understand the efficiency you need in this process.
This is something our team are looking to make improvements for and we'll shift the idea to working on it. As this develops I'll keep you updated of news and provide more detail through the idea, here.

Hi team, while we don't have immediate plans to change the placement of buttons on new invoicing we're interested in staying close to this feedback and I'll move the idea to Under review for the time being. We'll return to confirm any outcomes.

Thank you for your on-going input and attention to the idea here, everyone.
We will keep you updated on change for being able to add new tracking options when using new invoicing here, however if there are other items that you'd like to see developed please do make sure you've joined and are following updates for these too.
I can confirm our team have work underway to improve the line item grid where you enter detail of your invoice. Part of this work includes the ability to add new tracking options without navigating away from the invoice.
For now we'll move this idea to working on it and I'll be back to share when there's more news of this going live for you all.

Thanks for letting us know how useful this feature is to you when creating invoices for your customers in Xero. We have some improvements the team are focusing on within the contact card to provide our customers more efficiency, which includes the ability to search to add an address for a Contact.
For the time being we'll change this to working on it, and I'll keep you up to date with any progress for this, here.

Hi everyone, thank you for your feedback on this here. Through testing we found that majority of our customers would Approve and email an invoice at once, which is why this was developed as the default in new invoicing. That said we appreciate others would like a different action as their primary option.
While we don't have direct plans for adding the ability to set a default for this action, we're listening to your feedback and looking into how we can improve efficiency and speed things up for you when using new invoicing through the use of keyboard shortcuts. We'll share more news when we've confirmed what this shortcut looks like and are closer to providing this to you all.

Appreciate your feedback on how you'd like to see new invoicing improved to create more efficiency processing sales with Xero. There are a couple of different requests around defaults looped into this one idea that would be good to unpick and keep separate so we can keep you updated on any progress for each individually.
For interest around being able to set a default for the 'Approve and Send' button - There's an idea that's been started for this here that I'd recommend joining.
Kathy, your recent comment sounds more like the ability to be able to send invoices to a contact group with new invoicing - we totally get the interest in this too and have an idea for this here that you can follow.
Taking on board feedback we have made a change with the new send experience so now, selections for 'Include PDF of invoice' and 'Send…Tracey G supported this idea · -

Hi everyone, as another step toward improving history of new invoicing you'll find you'll now see an entry when an invoice is sent, and the email address it has been sent to.
We appreciate this is something we've heard a fair amount of feedback on and we hope helps in your journey to using new invoicing.
We still have more enhancements on the way for history and I'll be back again when more updates land.

Hi everyone, to keep you updated on this idea work in this space will provide the ability to add a new blank row to your invoice one at a time. Once added you'll also have the ability to drag and drop the row to where you'd like it placed in your invoice, which we know some customers use to help format their invoices and space lines out.
I appreciate that some customers have mentioned wanting to add multiple blank rows at once, and want to be open that this isn't planned with this release.
Being under development atm, we plan to have this to you all before classic invoicing is retired and I'll be back as soon as it's out to let you know, here.

Thanks to everyone that participated in and shared back on the team’s research in the new invoicing layout. Taking your feedback on board our teams have made some improvements to the layout of new invoicing, including changes to the layout of fields and buttons.
By rearranging and condensing space between fields, you’ll find there is less white space than previously shown, making it easier to navigate and tab through fields when entering your invoices. We’re actively looking into changes within the invoicing grid that’ll go further to condensing information on the screen and reducing actions when entering your invoices. We’ll update as there is more information to share on this.

Hi everyone, some time on since my last update I wanted to give you more of an idea of the work we have going on to help reduce the number of steps and actions in new invoicing. Along with the changes mentioned in my last update, we've since released a change to the view of an invoice to shift details back into their own columns (similar to classic), while a small change we know it's improved visibility for some of our customers.
We also have other work in development atm that’ll further help here like a new line item grid when editing your invoice - wrapped up in this we’ll be introducing changes you’ve been asking for like the ability to create a new tracking option or account code without having to navigate away from the invoice, we’re increasing the number of items that you can view from the drop…

Hi everyone, leading on from my last update we have now released improvements to eInvoicing for those in the UK! With the latest change you'll now find we've made it easier for you to opt-in to receive your Xero subscription bill via eInvoicing. You can now do this from your online invoice (My Bills page) instead of through the Billing contact page. Helping save you time and reduce manual data entry every month.😁
We understand there are other regions that'd still like to see this functionality developed and we'll shift back to submitted and share when there is news of moving this further afield.
We also wanted to address the recent comment of data sharing - We'd like to confirm that Xero do not share data with Peppol.com. We use the Peppol network and the subscription invoices are sent using our wholly owned provider, Tickstar. An error occurred while saving the comment Tracey G commentedPlease please please please
tick your box to add a pdf to the email with the invoice.
thats it.We all have to do it for our customers - please do it for us.
I do not want to sign up to another outside source.
I would just like to have our pdf invoice attached to the email so I can forward the email to my xero draft bills. That is all.
Please do this - tick your box.
thank you
An error occurred while saving the comment Tracey G commentedIn Xero when I send out an invoice to my customer a link is automatically included in the email with the options to:
- include files as attachments
- include PDF attachement
- Send me a copy (my email)Can you please "Include a PDF" when you email out our monthly invoice?
Also, can you send the email directly to my draft bills email address?that would save some time...
An error occurred while saving the comment Tracey G commentedCan Xero email the invoice as a PDF to our 'Files xero email address' instead of an email with a link?
That way when the transaction line appears in bank feeds I can just add the pdf invoice from 'Add from file library...' -

Thank you for your engagement on this idea. To help explain a little on how this works in the Account Transactions(AT) report - what shows in the Description field when running the report is dependent on the type of account you're running the report for.
For example, when running the AT report for a bank account, transactions will show the Contact name in the Description field. This is because the detail that is entered on each description line in the body of a transaction relates to the account the line item is coded to.
To see the detail, you'll need to run the report for the account code, not the bank account. This is also how the report works for some other accounts such as the system sales tax account, Account Receivable, and Accounts Payable.
If you're trying to find the account a bank transaction or system account line has…
An error occurred while saving the comment Tracey G commentedMaybe Xero should change the heading in the report:
FROM Description
TO ContactThat way when looking at the report we know what factual information is in the report. As in * if the heading is Description - I would automatically look for descriptions that have been entered in previous steps.
If the heading is Contact - I would expect nothing else, as disappointing as that is, at least heading would match the information in the report.Contact = Contact
Description = DescriptionNOT as it is now..
Description = ContactAn error occurred while saving the comment Tracey G commentedQuestion.
What report can give you the description?
Not the description = contact name.If I need to combine reports, annoying, but ok - but which report shows the description in it please?

An error occurred while saving the comment Tracey G commentedHi Tegan,
Have you had a look at the templates? Under the Organisation settings / Invoice settings.
Click the arrow for the +New Branding Theme. Choose Custom.dox
This will download a .Zip file. I have attached the 'purchase' doc image.
You could have a play around with this and see if you can have it look like what you are after. Then upload it and see if it will work for you. With what Xero can do I think this might be your best option.
I changed the sales invoice into a delivery docket for our boys and it works well enough, removing the $$ etc. Still playing with it though as not 100% happy - just need time to try and have the doc do what Im after.
An error occurred while saving the comment Tracey G commentedPrinting a bill PDF - I use these for making payments for multiple small receipts. I attach the receipts to the bill and print the pdf and hold in my payables to pay folder.
When I print the PDF the output looks more like an invoice to a customer than a bill / invoice to pay.I would like to alter the Bill pdf for easier identification - make the vendor (and staff name) Bold and a larger font so it stands out - wastes time looking for the vendor name opposed to the vendor invoices in the file.

Hi everyone, we appreciate all your feedback on how we could evolve roles for customers using Xero. As you can see through the ideas on the platform, there are a wide range of combinations of permissions our customers want to see us build. As user roles impact all areas of the product, there are many considerations we must factor in when assessing how to solve for majority of our customers needs.
We’re beginning to conduct research on the current landscape and how we might approach some of the most predominant needs in roles for our customers. Front footing this, the discovery of this work will be long winded and there will be multiple phases of research and forms of engagement with users that’ll help shape the path ahead in this space.
We’d like to invite you, our community to be part of this research and discovery. This may involve interviews…An error occurred while saving the comment Tracey G commentedThis is a problem with junior staff seeing information they should have no access to and breaches workplace contracts.

What a terrific idea!

Having larger font when invoicing etc trying to check for wording - would be very helpful.
