New Invoicing - Keep Classic Invoicing
KEEP THE CLASSIC FORMAT FOR INVOICING

Hi everyone, appreciate your continued feedback on new invoicing. As mentioned in my last update we've now added a new Xero Central page for new invoicing.
Along with updates to individual ideas on Xero Product Ideas, this page will become the single source of truth for key feature rollouts including:
- what’s available in new invoicing right now,
- timelines for features and enhancements going live in new invoicing, as well as
- a comparison table between the classic and newer versions of invoicing.
We'll be updating this page regularly.
Relating to some of the more recent feedback there are some existing ideas that may also be of particular interest that you can join, like the ability to see the email the invoice was sent to in the history, or being able to see a timestamp, and reducing clicks and steps.

Classic invoicing over new invoicing had a great feature when adding a part to the invoice from inventory when it came to adding the quantity value it would come up and advise quantity in stock or no stock, if no stock would check if we haven't put the purchase thru or a mistake in stock. Also if this show 1 only would know to reorder, great feature. Yes there are good extras re new version but keep the basic great options, cheers

I just want to add another voice to the campaign to keep the classic invoicing - at least until the new version has the same features and usability. At the moment the new version is just plain horrid.
Xero, you have thousands of skillful and intelligent customers that you could leverage off to create something special for everyone. Use the collective skills and knowledge to find out what users want and not what the software writers think that we want.
By going ahead with this and ignoring these users' pleas you are destined to lose a lot of your customer base. I like Xero but this will be stretching my patience.

No ability to view approved invoices as tax exclusive in new invoicing if they were generated as tax inclusive. The only way to view all approved invoices as tax exclusive is under classic invoicing.

Who's idea was it to have so much white space on the screen? Do you even have UI/UX people at Xero that actually have a clue what they're doing? I'm looking at an invoice with only 4 line items and it practically fills the screen. The numbers are so spread out, it's very difficult to read. I will check again in a couple of months to see if you've actually listened to any these comments before looking to move elsewhere!

Please keep Classic Invoicing. It is so much better than the New Invoicing, in countless ways from usability, to ease of viewing, number of clicks required and time it takes to invoice. New invoicing is horrendous. If we absolutely must have New Invoicing because the dev team needs something to do, fine, but do not retire Classic Invoicing please

I always send my customers a receipt, even for the small ones and I was able to do it with a single mouse-click after recording a payment. I cannot do that any longer. It may not seem a big deal but when you have a bunch of them, it has a cumulative effect.
As someone who works with disabled people when auditing websites, adding in extra mouse clicks is, at best, thoughtless.

Hi Accountants & Bookkeepers, I am done with Xero's rude ignorance & am moving to Quickbooks. There is a Roadshow THIS MONTH (Register link: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/au/quickbooksroadshowevents/)
Would love to catch up with everyone else moving over !! (I'll be at Mascot & will wear the attached badge for ease of Identification)

The new invoicing is AWFUL!! Absolutely HATE it!!
A few specific gripes:
- The clients address details don't show so this is screaming out for mistake/human error and you cant add the address easily either
- History only shows that the invoice was sent and doesn't show who to. This is a major problem when clients claim invoice was never received and you cant actually check/confirm where it was sent
- Attached files - you are no longer able to scroll through these to check them, but have to open them in separate tabs individually
- The payment icons in the email are obnoxiously large and you have no way of selecting which ones you offer, so currently we have HUGE payment icons displayed for options that we do not offer. This is false advertising.I could go on but I dont believe xero actually cares or would bother reading this.

why did not test your ideas in ‘beta’ and get solid customer feedback before going ‘live’ - there are so many retrograde steps with new invoicing, it should be classed as a launch FAILURE as you’ve managed to annoy more fee paying customers than you have pleased.

I have tried the new invoicing feature and I WILL NOT BE SWITCHING OVER ANY TIME SOON, NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE, when copying an invoice in the new version, I have to input my customer all over again, wasting time, also the function of an automatic draft invoice as soon as you input a customer is creating unnecessary draft invoices and a waste of time.
Copy invoice does not copy over contact details - when I copy, I want to copy EVERYTHING exactly per the original, including the contact!
Autosave is NOT a feature that we want. I regularly open an invoice just to check a price or give a customer a quick verbal quote over the phone so that I don't have to do maths in my head. Autosave means I will have at least 20 or 30 false draft invoices saved every day that I do not want, and I will now have to allocate time to separating them from the real drafts i do want, and delete off the false ones.
PLEASE KEEP CLASSIC INVOICING, AND UPDATE IT WITH NEW FEATURES, IF IT NEEDS TO BE CHANGED

Can't remove the large $x,***.xx 'Review and pay' in new invoicing. I have a large client who has stated they will move platforms rather than auto send emails that are this aggressive.

Please go back to classic invoicing.
For example where one making a copy of an approved invoice, you now have to add the customer name again. I choose the invoice to be copied, from a specific customer to be copied to that same customer, now I have to add the customer name again.
Classic invoicing had less ticks, and it was quicker to invoicing this way.Autosave is creating unnecessary draft invoices.
To overlook an invoice properly you now need to first go to Preview, because currently it is just hard to read on screen.
PLEASE GO BACK.

@Xero team:
The new invoicing is not ready. Please move the forced switchover date by at least a year. It is still very clunky, slow to create invoices, and missing many useful features of the old one. It does add some new ones, but they are less important than the loss of convenience and speed of entry in the old one.
Read user comments below. Take it very seriously. You are about to alienate your most ardent supporters with this forced switchover.
At least delay it until people in this conversation agree that the new version is ready.
What do you think will happen if people here start looking at other accounting packages like MYOB or QB online? Cost-wise they are about the same, but functionally, oh so much more...

Why does the sent box have a row of it's own? This wastes so much space, when I want to see more details without having to scroll
-
Kelly Leaning-Dalley commented
The new invoicing is not helpful to us at all and in fact will cost our business more money, so much so that we would have to seriously look at moving to MYOB.

Yes please! The new invoicing functionality for a user is poor so don't take away classic invoicing.
PLEASE listen to your customers. -
Clare Chappell commented
I completely agree with all of the comments below.
I switched back to the old invoicing one day after using the new invoicing.
Did you get customers to test the functionality of the new invoicing.
I suggest you fix all of the issues mentioned below before you start pushing customers to a new released feature.
As Bianca mentioned -This invoicing release is NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE -
Bianca Davitt commented
Simply put, classic invoicing was fine, new invoicing is NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE!
Classic invoicing was fast to use, all data I needed was clear to see, Never had a problem.
New invoicing is horrendous!
Until all of these issues are fixed, it is IMPOSSIBLE for us to use new invoicing.
1) Copy invoice does not copy over contact details - when I copy, I want to copy EVERYTHING exactly per the original, including the contact!
2) Autosave is NOT a feature that we want.
3) Item Code missing - there is a whole separate threat for just this issue. We physically CANNOT use new invoicing until Item Code has been re-instated as per classic invoicing. We do not use descriptions, our company runs on items codes only.
4) Why is the Tax code hidden? I need to check see this at a glance for every line, just like on classic invoicing.
5) Why is the account code hidden? I need to check see this at a glance for every line, just like on classic invoicing.
6) TOO MUCH WHITE SPACE. I now have to scroll for miles. I need to see everything at a glance on one screen, just like on classic invoicing.
7) I never use xero to email my invoices. I either download the PDFs and email them myself through outlook, OR I have to upload them into various customers online portals. The approve & send must be changed back to approve only.
I have no idea what we will do if these are not fixed before September.....

New Invoicing is missing two features that are immensely useful to me:
1) I can key dates into the date field in the form of '24 1 2024", hit the tab key, hit the "1" key and tab to choose my main chequing account, and enter a reference without having to use the mouse. moving back and forth between a mouse and keyboard is a huge waste of time.
2) I can't over-pay. Sometimes companies will pay a few invoices in one transaction. Being able to put in the full amount is essential. I like the way the classic invoicing asks for what to do with the overpayment amount.
