  1. It would be extremely helpful to be able to assign a range of default settings to either individual contacts, or to contact groups, such as:
    - invoice template
    - billing cycle (((would also be great to get variable billing cycles as a feature!))
    - currency

    we have a fair amount of customer hierarchy, which we've been able to somewhat address with contact groups.. but the fundamental lack of configurable options after the group is designated feels hugely wasted.

  2. We have a lot of personal expenses (reimburseable) and no company expenses within our business - when employees input their expenses it defaults to company money.

    Occasionally these slip through the net and aren't changed prior to approval.

    Can we switch off 'company money' in expenses - or can we set 'personal spend' to be the default option?

  3. I would like to have having ability to quickly see the outstanding amount in the currency it was originally invoiced (like USD or EUR) directly from contacts dashboard, without having to navigate through detailed reports and apply multiple filters. This would save a lot of time.

  4. It would be really helpful to be able to add a note/comment next to contact email addresses. Such as "Use if sending a remittance", "Only use for purchase orders" or "Business owner - only email if urgent". These comments could sit under or beside the email address in the contact's edit section so that it doesn't crowd the side bar of information. That way we don't annoy the customer by sending some emails to the wrong account and we also don't need to keep sticky notes for such specific customer details for each of our many clients.

  5. On All of the New contacts Screens (All, Customers, Suppliers, Archived and Groups) have a field Chooser of the data to display on the screeen. Similar (but with more fields) to the Column chooser in the Bills Screens. These settings need to persist for the User within the Organisation.

    Hi everyone, just popping back here to let you know that the custom column option has been added to the All, Invoices and Bills tab.

    Clicking on the ‘Column’ button opens a list of all data columns available on the tab. Select the fields you wish to see on the page, and Click Apply. This saves the default view for the tab for all the contacts in your selected organisation.

    Note - This change is per user, so the columns will not change for other users of your organisation.

  6. I would like to suggest creating quotes in multiple currencies should be the same as setting the exchange rate. As currently when we choose another currency when creating a quote, while the exchange rate still appears as the custom rate, the exchange rate that appears on the PDF is the default rate. We should all be on the same page.

  7. It would be great if we could code annual leave to another account code other than salary and wages. Currently we manually journal these costs to another account in the ledger to separate them. This helps with reporting wages like for like.

    Hi everyone, as noted in my recent update Additional notes for a Contact is now live to 100% of organisations.  A quick recap - You’ll find this new feature located at the bottom of the Contact details section, when adding or editing a Contact. It’ll be visible in the Add/Edit screen, and from the right panel of a Contact’s record.

    There are some asks through this idea that go beyond this release such as;

    If you're interested in these features please join and support them. It’d be good to get a refreshed sense of the interest in each.   10. Projects - It would be helpful to be able to open multiple timers at once. Sometimes I work on one project and then get interrupted to work on another. I would like to be able to open a new timer without having to save and close the time on my original timer. I could then come back to the original timer and resume time recording after closing and saving the new timer.

    Gotcha, thanks for rounding back, Kieran. Get where you're coming from especially if you often update or add accounts. 

    We don't have any immediate plans around this but we'll keep an eye out and let you know if there's any plans to change, here. 

  12. It would be helpful and efficient to be able to make or add an account code straight from the "account code" dropdown in the bill/invoice/journal without needing to go to chart of accounts to make a new one. Currently, users still need to go to the chart and then go back to the bill/invoice/journal but since this refreshes the page, it erases all the data already filled up in the invoice.

    Hi team, as mentioned in our last update here our team were looking into improvements.

    You may have already noticed but we made a change since this was initially raised so when you select '+ Create new account' at the top of the dropdown list in the Account field, the Chart of Accounts screen will open in a new tab. Fro here you can create the account, and when you return to the invoice, the new account is instantly available for selection.

    We are still considering future improvements of enabling account creation directly within new invoicing, so I'll update if there's any news of this to share, here.

  13. A number of overseas entities, may be registered to charge GST to AU customers, particularly if they are selling digital services into AU. Many of these entities are registered with an ARN (ATO Reference Number), rather than an ABN.

    If registered with an ARN, they can charge GST, however the recipient of the service cannot claim the GST credits.

    For Xero users, it would be great to be able to include the ARN as part of the contact record - ideally in the ABN field, and potentially with a checkbox to indicate that this is an ARN instead of an…

  14. Description Field with the bank narration

    This happened as a couple of newer client and new to xero in the contact field wrote something incredibly different to the bank narration which makes it very difficult to review the general ledger information.

    For example in the General Account the transactions descriptions are all listed as "John Smith" when if the bank narration option was available I could see it is Officeworks, KFC, etc and this would make it easier to realise these are miscoded and reallocate.

  15. Restore the ability to see the total number of days an invoice is overdue from the client contact page for credit control. It used to say 125 days overdue in red - that has gone so it is now not as easy to decide how firm to be when emailing a client to chase a late invoice. Those days overdue on an email heading get attention fast.

  18. I Also, when will we get the stop function in Xero? I've been asking Xero for 6 years. I know you can restrict invoices by credit limit but, customers could be well under their limit but overdue in paying. A stop function is critical to any accounting system.

  19. When I am manually entering a contact bank account number, I find it disconcerting to be warned to enter the bank account number after I leave the BSB code field. But I HAVE to leave the BSB code field in order to move to the Bank account number field! Leaving the BSB field is not a mistake!
    I think the warning would be better triggered if you attempt to click on 'Save & close' without completing both fields.

  20. The account watchlist widget is great, but it's somewhat useless without the budget for that month and YTD being shown alongside, such that you can get a quick overview of those accounts against expected performance.

    It would be a massive improvement and would be of benefit to many, in my opinion!

    Perhaps it could be an option for the widget to show (or not show) comparison to budget?

    Thanks for your interest in the idea here. Being one of the ideas raised by community in our previous Feature request site I'm pleased to share that this is something that is now available in Xero. 


    From the Account Watchlist on your organisation's dashboard you'll have an option to 'Show budgets' 🙂
