Sales Overview - View Outstanding invoice amount not Total invoice amount
Prior to the last update the upstanding invoices on the sales dashboard used to show amount outstanding. After the update it shows the total of the invoice. This is misleading as it is not showing the actual posts sing amounts.
I run a layby system in my shop and this new update although small is actually inconvenient as I now have to click into each invoice (many of my customers have various laybys ar one time) to see the actual outstanding amount vs total of the invoice.
Don’t suppose you could change it back??5 votesThanks for your idea, Lanie. Appreciate hearing how this would help you and the need in seeing the total.
We'll keep an eye on the interest from community in this. Make sure you share your idea with any colleagues that this could benefit so they can add their vote too!

Projects - Ability to favourite and show in Projects menu
Projects - it would be really helpful if we could select Projects as favourites (with the star like in reports) so when we click on the Projects heading we see our favourites in the drop down list, like we do with reports we use frequently. See image for example.

UK Payroll - Produce employment intermediary reports
It would be great if Xero produce Intermediary reports that can be uploaded direct to HMRC for agent workers from Zero.

NZ GST - Increase size of the current period button
Rather than the very small, blue writing to preview a current GST period, can this please be bigger and a button.
A lot of clients do not know this feature is in the GST Return area as its too small to find easily and previewing the current return is useful for businesses to know what their current result is looking like, especially if they are using this feature for cashflow/GST saving.1 vote -
Xero Expenses: Automatic receipt scan in web app
Add the ability to extract data from scanned receipts in the Xero Expense web app.
At the moment, both the mobile app and HubDoc can automatically scan receipts and extract data (date, amount, payee, etc). This doesn't work in the web app and Hubdoc cannot send documents to the Expense app.
We use a document scanner to scan multiple reciepts at a time and then batch upload to our expense keeping app (Zoho Expense). Drag and drop multiple receipts into Zoho Expense and the software will automatically extract the data from multiple reciepts at a time. This is more user friendly and faster than taking photos one at a time on a mobile app, or uploading them on the Xero Expense web app where we have to manually extract the data.

Contact - Save and add another
When entering multiple contacts, it would be good to have the option to "save and create new contact" as well as the "Cancel" and "Save and Close" option after entering the information. Currently you have to press Save and Close, go back to Contacts, then select New Contact.
6 votesDo you often find yourself adding multiple new contacts at a time, Karen? While we don't have plans for a save and add another atm, you could either import contacts, or use the create new icon (+) in the blue navigation menu to streamline this process a little more. 🙂

AU Payroll - Ability to calculate protected amount for child support deduction
Currently payroll is only able to child support as a deduction.
In Australia, there is a protected amount that employee needs to earn before the deduction is taken out of their pay. There isn't a function that will allow this currently.
Payroll officers manually have to keep track of this and remove the deduction if protected amount is not reached. Small businesses with a few employees would be able to keep track but for the likes of a bigger business with more than 20+ employees, this would be a nightmare.

We've reviewed your idea and have updated it's status to Gaining Support.
Whilst this idea isn't currently in the pipeline, we'll keep monitoring the activity and will keep you updated on the way.

Sales invoice - Link associated bill
We only want to pay the supplier/freelancer once our customer has paid for the service.
Some form of link between a purchase invoice and the associated sales invoice to flag that the supplier can now be paid as the corresponding sales invoice was settled.
Trigger something in the Due Date or even set up a payment so that it is easier to make sure we only pay once we have been paid4 votesHi Neil, just rounding back on your idea here again. We have a separate request for the ability to be notified when an invoice has been paid. Being good to track each part of the idea separately I'll slightly adjust the title of your idea for the first portion and you're welcome to join this other one for any updates around notification of paid invoices. 🙂

Reports - Voided and Deleted Invoices deselected by default
I deleted and voided invoices for a reason. I don't want to see them again, yet they show up by default on a number of reports. This is in addition to making the invoice number unusable when invoices are voided. None of this makes sense to me and I shouldn't need to make a custom version of every report that seems to included voided/deleted data by default.

Bank Reconciliation - Untick 'Show (currency) items only' by default
Ability to untick the option of ‘Show currency items only’ by default.
Purpose: To avoid confusion especially for users who are dealing with multiple currencies.
55 votesThanks for your feedback and for sharing your thoughts on this idea. We understand having to untick the "Show (currency) items only" adds extra clicks and slows you down. Our current default setting is designed to help prevent common reconciliation mistakes. Most users primarily reconcile transactions in their local currency, so defaulting to that view helps keep the screen less cluttered and reduces the risk of accidental mismatches with foreign currency transactions, which can be complex. For now, the process is to untick the "Show [currency] items only" box whenever you need to reconcile a foreign currency transaction. We know this isn't a perfect solution for everyone, but we wanted to provide some context on why the current design is in place. We'll continue to listen to your feedback and will let you know if anything changes. Thanks for being part of the Xero community!

Reporting - Include Branding Theme on invoice reports
I would like the field 'Branding Theme' added to invoice report as a column that can be selected.
Any invoice report - aged debtors by detail would be great. I need to be able to analyse outstanding invoices by this field and cannot.12 votes -
Bank Reconciliation - Simple mode
I found the reconciliation options too complicated for my use case. I didn't understand or need the codes and found my best efforts left the balances showing the wrong amounts. Really all I would need is a distinction between "Money in" and "Money out", and custom tagging so I could track my own categories rather than try to make sense of a technical coding system.

Invoice Reporting (Payables) - Ability to include Planned Date as a separate column
In the new reports you can run a report, by supplier, of invoices that are due and planned to be paid, which is great. There is a differentiation between due and planned in both screen detail and reporting. The schuduled/planning option enables users or managers to plan which invoices they wish to pay either by viewing on Xero or running in a report. However, the reporting option puts the two together by adding in an invoice wiht the same due date, if a planned date has not been entered. This means that invoices not scheduled/planned to be paid are included in the report. It is possible to filter to include a due date if you filter wihtout it, it is still included
As a bookkeeping practice managing sizeable purchase ledgers, this defeats the whole ability given to scheudle paymetns and run a corresponding report to issue to clients to pay their suppliers. Directors dont look in Xero and rely on their accounts teams to produce reports for them. There are 'get-arounds', we've worked with them for over 10 years.
This funtion is SO close, the only thing lacking is the report, run by planned, date, filtered by planned date, to please not include an invoice that happens to have the same due date unless the request to include that filter has been selected
PLEASE can we have this report
Many thanks, a broken record to the reporting team but still asking

Navigation | Edit display picture for organisations in dropdown
It's very hard to tell multiple organizations apart, particularly if they have the same initials. Currently, Xero simply displays the organizations' initials. It also assigns a random color to each organization. It would help distinguish these greatly if the organization settings allowed me to upload an avatar for each organization. Xero's Demo Company already illustrates how this feature would look. Also, it would help edit the color Xero assigns so that the color could match each organization's branding.
12 votesWe appreciate your feedback on the new navigation here thanks for sharing!
Our product teams are closely monitoring all inputs we are receiving from customers on this. We'll keep a close eye on the interest this idea builds here and share if there are any updates.

User role permissions - Control and restrict access to chart of accounts
We use Xero for our Bookkeeping business & would like to invite clients to view only the information pertaining to their individual business records. Right now, anyone who logs in can see every other client’s information, as well as their own.
23 votesHi team, rounding back to this idea here it appears there are a few different use cases being raised around permissions.
From the sounds some would like to restrict access to for users to specific contact records, and we have an idea for this here that I'd recommend joining.
For those that would like to restrict access to specific reports we have another idea around this we'd recommend joining.
I'll adapt the title of this idea for those that'd like to restrict access to specific chart of accounts.
We appreciate interest in each and you're welcome to join each idea you'd like to see development for, and we'll share any updates on each idea respectively.

Reporting - Add an Account column to the Contact Transaction detail report
It would be GREAT (ok essential) to have the "Related account" column available here.
A list of transactions by contact at it is, with date,VAT and total amount is ok but a CRUCIAL column is missing.
"Related account" column is crucial/ essenital/ a mist because we often need to check consistency of posting to the correct account, which we cannot do right now.

VAT returns - Filter 'Transaction by VAT' and 'Transactions by tax rate' pages
I would really like to see something similar to the sorting function on the Account Transactions report applied to the Transaction by VAT box and Transactions by tax rate pages on the VAT returns. This would make them so much easier to review, rather than exporting them to excel.
