  1. Could Xero start looking at a drop down box on the allowance to have one as Not Reportable (alongside the other catagories eg. Meals, Tools, Car), and to have it out for STP reporting? or another checkbox down the bottom along with the withholding tax, super, and W1 questions?
    Instead of going through the long winding process of creating an ordinary earning, remove as deduction and do a reimbursement as per https://central.xero.com/s/article/Process-special-pay-items-like-living-away-from-home-allowance

  2. Pay items bulk upload

    can we please have a way of updating pay items in bulk
    when items are imported via a different pay system the W1 area is not updated
    and to do 100 items takes so much time as they have to be one indivually.
    other items can be exported, updated and then imported back

  4. It would be wonderful to have the option to use HH:MM format for timesheet entries, instead of only decimal time. Hard to convince employees to do timesheets as it is, but to also ask them to convert two weeks of project works over numerous jobs into decimal format is a big ask! Not many people are used to entering 4.6667 hrs instead of 4hrs 40min. If this is a feature of Xero Practice Manager, can it not be easily made available to the rest of us?

  6. Currently there is no functionality to add a line anywhere in the Journal. The current system of dragging a line from the bottom is absolutely inconvenient especially where the Journal is very long and we want to add a few lines in the beginning of the Journal.
    There should be one button 'insert a line function' (next to current curser location - meaning anywhere in the journal - Like F7 in SAGE).
    Also, to move to below line, we have to use mouse. Can it not be possible to use arrow keys to move up and down?

  7. It would be great if Xero could implement an automatic change/suggestion to change to category A after an H-category employee doesn't meet the criteria anymore.
    One of our employees just had his birthday and I noticed the category doesn't automatically update and there's no flag to say they might now be ineligible for a certain code.
    I imagine there are more companies with the same problem where it's gone unnoticed that the National Insurance Category hasn't automatically updated as nearly everything else does and it's easy to miss a birthday!

    Hi community, we've rolled out a change to Xero Payroll (UK), and now Xero will automatically apply the new NI category to a pay run based on an employees birthdate, and if they are entering into a new NI category. Meaning you no longer have to manually track and updates these.

  8. Fixing issues with holidays and making pro-rata holiday calculations automatically
    Calculate starting holiday allowance from the starting date of the employee for new employees joining throughout the year.
    Calculate final holiday allowance based on the end of employment date when employees leave.
    Since Xero knows the holiday hours per year and the working patterns, it has everything it needs to calculate this.
    If an leaving employee has taken too many holidays before they leave, it is important to ensure the leave is negative.
    Furthermore, at the end of the year the employee should be given the option to carry over…

    Hi everyone, appreciate the feedback on the idea here. Being open we don't have any immediate work planned for this.

    However, I also wanted to highlight with differing needs and regulation our payroll products are developed separately for region specifically. We try to keep the ideas regionally separated in community here as it helps when feeding back to the team and also in keeping customers updated.

    That said we have a separate idea for this similar feature in AU Payroll and I've added any voters from AU to that idea to keep updated there.

  9. Could you please consider adding the feature of adding and processing auto superannuation payments from each finalised payrun (eg button next to "File" that would prefil the contributions in the payrun and further to authorisation). A number of clients are asking for a payday super feature, and adding this feature directly from the payrun will minimise the number of "clicks" and processing time. This also would be a hot topic if moving to compulsory payday super.

  10. Old payslips should retain the correct postal address for the employee for that time period. Don't update the previous payslips, just move forward with the new address for new payslips. People use their payslips for various different reasons, and tracking/validating their address history etc can be one of them!

  12. The current option available for updating the time in lieu of XERO is to previously inform the fixed number of hours that will be added to the leave balance in the leave register. However, the number of hours varies each week, so I cannot predict in advance how many hours each employee will work.

    My suggestion includes an automatic update from the time in lieu of using a timesheet. Thus reducing the probability of errors by entering the balance manually.

    Hi everyone, thanks for your continued engagement and support for the idea of making tracking categories mandatory in Xero. We really appreciate you sharing your insights on the benefits that adding this feature would bring to your financial reporting and month-end processes.

    Right now, you could use find and recode to assign a tracking option to any transaction lines that are currently unassigned. 

    Regarding the future of this idea, we've carefully reviewed all your feedback and the critical need you've expressed for this feature. While we understand the value and time-saving potential this improvement would bring, we want to be transparent that making tracking categories mandatory across all relevant transactions isn't on our roadmap for development. If our position of this changes in time, we'll share an update for everyone, here. 

  17. I have had a few scenarios where an employee requests leave and then I have gone into Xero and there are no requests. The employee has cancelled the request, but I have no visibility on this and so I have to reach out to the employee and check so could a notification be sent if an employee cancels a leave request before it is approved? Or if the leave request was left in Xero, but with a 'cancelled by employee' status or something? It is important to have visibility in some form.

  18. Manual Journals - Ability to to set Tax Defaults in Financial Settings like you can for sales and purchases. This will enable the user to set it to Tax inclusive and every time a new journal is created it will be tax inclusive instead of no tax.

  19. Xero checks employees age against pay rate and that of the National Minumum Wage so it does not get missed. It's doesn't have to change it, just highlight thsat the employee's rate needs to ber changed

  20. Ability to change our PAYG Withholding period to weekly. Only options are None, Monthly or Quarterly. The ATO requires we lodge and pay PAYGW weekly now and this is not possible in Xero. We have to change our PAYGW period to None so that it does not show on the BAS and manually calculate, lodge and pay this weekly.

    Hello everyone, we appreciate you engaging with us about this topic. To clarify, we acknowledge support in this idea has arisen from a new requirement from the ATO that means large orgs that withhold over $1M annually to submit PAYGW weekly via STP.

    While we appreciate why you'd like to automate this flow of information from Payroll to BAS within Xero there are two current options;

    • Within Payroll settings you could untick “Reportable as W1 on Activity Statement” so your payroll data is not included in BAS, or
    • Manually remove the W1 and W2 figures from your Activity Statement to lodge activity statements for clients that are submitting weekly PAYGW.

    This idea is on our product teams radar, however we want to be upfront that at this stage we don't have any plans for developing an automation of these fields.
