  1. Unscheduled pay run - most of my unscheduled pay runs are paid on the day of creation.
    It would be good to be able to change the payment date to the actual date of payment instead of the date selected by the unscheduled pay run.

    E.g. unscheduled pay run for the week ending 13th Aug has a payment date of 16th Aug yet payment may have been made on 18th Sep.

  2. Ability to partially reconcile a statement line to one invoice and leave the rest of the payment unreconciled until the details needed for reconciliation are received, instead of posting an overpayment.

    HI team, appreciate not directly within the Customer statement at present and being open we don't have immediate change planned for adding this to the customer statement. However, for the time being you could look to run the Customer Invoice Activity report which has a few more options for the columns and detail shown. 

    Once you've set up as you like you could save as Custom to make this readily available in your org and export to share externally with a customer/client. 

  4. Request SWIFT code field to be saved under particular contact as bank account number, so that it could auto populate in the batch payment.

  5. Subject: Enhancement Request: Superannuation Payment Reporting

    Dear Xero Team,

    I am writing to suggest an enhancement that would greatly benefit our operations during tax return preparations. Currently, distinguishing between superannuation contributions paid on time and those paid late is a time-consuming and sometimes confusing process, especially for newcomers. I propose the development of a comprehensive report within Xero that automatically categorizes superannuation payments into 'Paid On Time' and 'Paid Late' based on statutory deadlines. This report should allow users to select specific quarters or custom date ranges, include detailed breakdowns with payment and due dates, and offer export options…

  6. I'd like to add a note within a pay run that is visible to "admin only".
    Eg. To justify differences due to staff timesheet errors.
    I don't want the staff to be able to see this note but I'm sick of having notes in external programs.

I just updated the employees to STP2 and it has gone from a nice clean format where I can view everything at a glance to a horrible, lots-of-white-space, format now where I have to continuously scroll down to see the information. This new format looks terrible and creates more work for the user! This includes both the timesheet approvals page, and the Employee information tax / employment info pages.

    Hey Rachael 👋 thanks for sharing this suggestion.


    To be transparent, we have no plans to revert the changes made to the Payroll screens.


    These updates are part of “Building on Beautiful”, the work we’re doing to improve the foundations.


    As every part of Xero starts to look and feel the same, it will be easier to make other important changes.


    These improvements have already allowed us to deliver highly requested features such as Payroll History, and support for STP2.

  8. Adding staff working on a project without giving them access to Xero.

    There is absolutely not need for staff to have access to Xero for me to log that they have worked on a project for 8 hours at £xx rate per hour.

    I don't want to add this information to the ledger as the staff are payrolled so I cannot enter this as an expense but I would like to diarise time against the project so profitability can be calculated.

    I would like to request that we keep the publish button on the new GST layout. The new GST Return layout does not have the Publish to Reports function (this has been removed). The Publish Function is an important function for clients, bookkeepers and auditors to access all relevant publish reports in one place.

    Hi community, appreciate your feedback on the new GST return and detail of how the Publish feature is useful to you. While we don't have immediate plans for developing this in the new return, this is something we're monitoring and will consider as a future improvement. If there is any change around this we'll share this with you all through the idea here.

  10. It will be really great from the Aged Receivables Reports to be able to send Statements to Customers without having to leave the page and come back to it.

    A flag, on the Aged Receivables Reports, of when last a statement was sent will also be very useful.

  11. When you select reports and it says current month, it is not the current month it actually goes back from the day you create a report to the previous month. When it says current month I would expect it to be current month. See samples below where I have gone to the report and changed it to select date range and it should show current month but it doesn't

    Hi Sue,

    I can see from your screenshots you've used the 'Select date range' option. As you've found, this defaults to a ~30 day period back from the day you've run the report. This is a bit of a quirk of the 'Select date range' dropdown. 

    However, I can confirm that if you use the date range 'This Month' your reports will return information for this calendar month instead.

    To confirm this, you can post future dated pay runs for the same month, and they'll appear in your reports when run for 'This Month' but not 'Select date range'.

    Not everyone has the default tax code, an option to edit the tax code.

    Thanks for the added feedback, James - Connecting with our Xero tax UK team on this I want to be upfront that there's no plans to develop for your idea here.

    To explain the rationale here - As you'll understand, tax codes are used with the aim that people pay the correct tax on their employment income and do not underpay or overpay, so that a tax return or repayment claim forms do not need to be completed.

    Tax codes are only used against PAYE sources. The actual personal allowance is to be used in the self assessment calculations.

    • Personal allowance is reduced in the calculation if someone earns above £100k or they transfer their marriage allowance.
    • If a person receives the marriage allowance, then this is provided as a tax reducer at the bottom of the calculation as per legislation.

    Hey folks, thanks for the idea and support here. We appreciate all the valuable feedback and ideas shared regarding timesheet reminders ⏰
    We understand that the ability to easily remind employees to fill out timesheets would make things easier and save you time.
    Our product team is currently investigating potential solutions for this but at this early stage there are no specific time frames available. We’ll be sure to let you know if there’s any change, though!

  14. Please enable the ability to pay staff with a joint bank account in same pay run. We currently have to pay two couples with a joint bank account into separate accounts each run. Xero does not permit two payments into the same bank account in one pay run. I have confirmed with our bank that this is not an error on their end. Xero support have informed me that this is not a function that Xero currently offers.

  15. Xero Project feature idea

    • drill down transaction from Xero Project reporting
    • Report template Xero Project layout can not be saved to custom report template
    • assign project to Payroll
    • Inactive jobs, still showing in the list although its in the different section, in my opinion the inactive project should not show up at all, should make the same like employee list where there is a dongle to show inactive Projects.

  16. Reinstate "Voided" bills and invoices
    We have had an invoice created accidentally with sensitive payroll info, it was then voided without thinking and now that info is permanently in the xero file - we need to at LEAST be able to edit voided invoices (as you can at any other stage - ie maybe a "reinstate" so we can edit to remove this sensitive data, then re-void??!!

When a staff member has a HECS debt or other Student Loan selected AND is salary sacrificing - the Student loan amount is only calculated on the GROSS amount AFTER the salary sacrifice however when the staff member has gone to do their tax return, they have a tax bill because the ATO looks at the taxable income as an amount INCLUDING the salary sacrifice so via Xero not enough PAYGW has been withheld - can this be amended?

  19. The ability to 'lock in' previous periods pay rates in Projects. Currently, when uploading any pay rate changes per member of staff, this cascades back to all hours worked on projects which skews figures.

  20. When you update the inventory selling price of an item you expect that this is reflected when a repeated invoice is generated. This is not currently the case. The price is ONLY updated when you edit the repeated invoice. Please have an option box on the repeated invoice that allows inventory price updates on generation. Currently waste hours and hours and make mistakes every time an inventory item changes price. Logged support cases about this for years but trying here now. Huge time saver.
