  1. Remove the Overall Cash Balance section from the mobile app. It takes up too much space. There is already a bank account summary section so it is unnecessary and if it must be there put it at the bottom.

Hey Community, good news! You can now have those widgets in any order you like 😊

We've made some improvement to the Xero Accounting app, to enable users to rearrange widgets on their dashboard.

You can place that Overall Cash Balance widget wherever you like. Even if that's right at the bottom, Matthew 😉

The screenshots below have a visual of the new change.

  2. Can the bill or invoice number be added to the description shown when Xero automatically adds it to the short term cash flow. See picture for item added manually where we add the bill number and then item added by Xero where none is shown. This will really help where we have multiple items for the same customer/supplier for the same amount.

  3. Hi

Client is wondering whether there is a way to split bills in the cash flow prediction to show half the bill being paid on this day and the remainder on another day. Currently you can tell it that we estimate to pay the bill in full on this day but can't see an option to split the bill.

Look forward to hearing from you.

    Thanks

  4. Need the report linked from dashboard's Total Cash In and Out to MATCH to the data shown on a report.

Right now it opens up a Bank Summary report which includes transfers, but even after removing transfers from the equation, the numbers still do not match up on the cash flow widget. I can't verify the cash flow widget's numbers.

  5. To be able to use Find and Recode in Cash Mode. This would make searching for and recoding payments of bills and invoices within a time period much easier. For example, when a client becomes GST Registered and payments from a certain date need to have GST applied.

  6. As a small business it is hard when employees take time off when sick especially with 10 days now. We have an incentive in our contract to either roll these over or cash them up however this is not available through Xero.

Appreciate you sharing detail and why you'd like a cash up option with us here. Being open, as this is more specific to your business(not regulatory) we don't have plans for adding a cash up option within NZ Payroll.

However, there are currently two ways you could achieve this within Xero Payroll today

    1. Leave the Sick Leave maximum to accrue value as nil this will allow an indefinite roll over of sick leave
    2. If you're wanting to cash up then enter a sick leave request for a single day and enter the total value of a week to cash up with a description of cash up

We hope this can meet the needs you're after in recording cash up for sick leave. Thanks

  7. Recording refund through bank reconciliation tab rather than doing a cash refund on the bill/invoice

  8. Ability to export and import quotes in Xero.

Purpose: Because putting quotes in/from a spreadsheet can make users better calculate future cash flow.

Hi everyone, we recognise the appetite in this idea and thank you for engaging with us on this through product ideas. We understand the efficiency being able to import Quotes to Xero could have for our customers, as well as the ease of use being able to export Quotes like you can invoices. However, with team resource focused elsewhere right now, we want to be honest that import and export of Quotes are not currently in the roadmap.

Right now, for the export of Quotes you could run the Receivable Invoice Details report - We've created a common format available fro the left panel to access 'All quote details'. If you'd like to further filter this you could add a Status filter. Once you Update, you'll find you can export this detail to PDF, Excel or Google Sheets.

We'll make sure to update everyone through the idea here if there's…

  9. Hi,
When clients run the cash summary report - they often select Period - 1 month, then compare with - previous 11 periods.
This report can be run at any stage throughout the year showing the previous 12 months (showing each month on its own column to track trends etc) on a cash flow basis (P&L reports not relevant if there is equipment lines, drawings, tax payments etc).

Most of my clients run this report regularly as it 100% focuses on the cash, showing cash movements during the period.

My issue with running this report is that it only…

We wanted to let you know that we've released the improved Cash summary report, where you can now select more flexible date range by clicking the 'Date Range' field, then choose the comparison period from 'Compare with' column.
To get the full picture on how this new feature works, check out our video here!

Note that if you need to add a total column into this report, you can use the layout editor then add a formula that you're trying to get.

Lastly, we really appreciate your input here, so we'll mark this request as delivered.

  10. Xero UX designers seem to be under the impression that users want to select accounts by scrolling though a list of 100 entries every time.

You removed the ability to search for the appropriate account by typing the account name when adding payroll categories a while ago. Most recently, you've removed this from the Bank Rules screen without having to use extra clicks.

Anywhere we're supposed to select an account, either tabbing or clicking into the field and typing the name of the account should search for and select the account, as it used to everywhere and as it still…

  12. I am a refuge from QuickBooks (after decades of use). I switched to Xero because of the ever-increasing costs of QuickBooks since they switched to a subscription model.

I have to have two Xero subscriptions -- one for my (very) small business and one for my home bookkeeping. (With QuickBooks, I could manage both with a single account.) At the Early level, that's $15 per month apiece, $30 a month for both, or $360 a year in all. That's less than QuickBooks, but it's a lot for my modest needs.

Now with the added "cash coding" feature --…

  13. I would like to add an "Account Type" called Cash on Hand that would sit as a heading on the Balance Sheet Just like Bank, Curent Assets etc does. We have various sources of this account type, and I would like to group them rather than them sitting in current assets as they currently do. They are not technically bank accounts, so don't want them under that heading.

  14. Bills to Pay defaulting to "Awaiting Payment". When I am coding draft bills the system defaults to "Awaiting Payment" after I have approved the bill. PLEASE CHANGE THIS BACK to "All" or "Draft Bills". When I'm coding draft bills I don't want to see bills awaiting payment I want to see draft bills whether in the "All" list or "Draft" list.

Hi everyone, thanks again for sharing how we can improve Xero for your experience. The ability to set a default page for Bills to pay has now been released to all users.

One point that we'd like to highlight is that this setting is device specific - so if you commonly access Xero from multiple devices you'll need to set the default page on each device you use.

  15. It would be very useful if the cashflow report could intelligently add VAT payments to Cashflow automatically.

For example when a VAT return if filed, automatically add the payment amount and date to the report, learning as it does with repeating outgoings what the date might be - if you're paying by DD this is pretty predictable.

As invoices are generated (payable and receivable) the report already picks up the amount of VAT payable to HMRC and it would not be a stretch to calculate what is due back on purchases, or to use the known VAT reporting…

  16. The option to show bills/expense in a Report on a Cash Basis. So show paid bills only not all bills,
as per the Detailed Transaction Report if Xero. We need this option to show current expenses per project. The Detailed Transaction Report only shows this if you assign a Project through Tracking.

Hi Dan, you can already run the new Profit & Loss in a foreign currency your org is using, as well as run on a cash basis. If you often find yourself wanting to run reports on a cash basis - we recently released Reporting preferences where you could set this as a default. 🙂

We'll keep tracking the interest around viewing the Statement of cashflow in a foreign currency and let you know if there's any plans made for this, here.

  18. Even though the above feature in XERO has great potential for add on value services to clients, example, 90 days cash flow projections, I am very surprised that no one asked, why cant we produce a report in PDF or Excel??? Isn't this an essential part of a report?

  19. Add a box to payroll for an employee's preferred name, for those who don't use their legal name as their everyday contact, it doesn't need to link to ATO, so no major coding, just be there for reference when contacting the employee. I have several clients with staff that use their middle name or a different version of their first name, that they prefer when being addressed, and it being there in payroll would simplify things.

  20. Is it possible for cash sales/one off payments to chose not to save an email address? Every time I do a one-off cash sale for a new/random customer, the email address automatically saves into the Cash Sale contact file. But the next cash sale invoice is going to a different email address, so while I can input the new email address, the one prior is printed on the invoice! It is getting very tedious having to go into the contact file, delete the previous email address and get back into the new invoice to reprint it every time I do…

Thanks for your feedback, Carolyn. Appreciate the different use case and why you may not want information from a singular invoice to update the contact. We'll get an understanding of the demand for this here.

In the meantime, it'd be good to understand if recording as Receive money could help your flow here for cash sales so you don't have to enter contact details?
