Sales invoice - Don't auto update email of contact
Is it possible for cash sales/one off payments to chose not to save an email address? Every time I do a one-off cash sale for a new/random customer, the email address automatically saves into the Cash Sale contact file. But the next cash sale invoice is going to a different email address, so while I can input the new email address, the one prior is printed on the invoice! It is getting very tedious having to go into the contact file, delete the previous email address and get back into the new invoice to reprint it every time I do…
9 votesThanks for your feedback, Carolyn. Appreciate the different use case and why you may not want information from a singular invoice to update the contact. We'll get an understanding of the demand for this here.
In the meantime, it'd be good to understand if recording as Receive money could help your flow here for cash sales so you don't have to enter contact details?

AU Payroll - Field for Preferred Name
Add a box to payroll for an employee's preferred name, for those who don't use their legal name as their everyday contact, it doesn't need to link to ATO, so no major coding, just be there for reference when contacting the employee. I have several clients with staff that use their middle name or a different version of their first name, that they prefer when being addressed, and it being there in payroll would simplify things.

Xero Expense report - Ability to add column for user that created the expense
To produce a report that shows all expenses entered via the expense claim feature for a specific period, which also shows who entered the expenses and details of the claims?
This is a useful feature required for comparing budgets and forecasting future cash flow expectations.

Customer Payments - Payments on Account, instead of Overpayments/Prepayments
You can only allocate payment on accounts to a customer ledger on Xero by clicking 'Overpayment' which is very long winded. Please can this be simplified to select the customer and then allocate straight as a 'payment on account' and then this can be allocated to the invoice once this is uploaded.
In addition, if there is money out that gets contra'd against money received from a client, there is no way of coding this to the customer ledger.

Reporting - A more detailed Purchase Order report
Purchase Order Reporting
The current work around of using the Outstanding Purchase Orders Summary report lacks a lot of the vital info that's needed to manage Purchase Orders and create accruals at month end. A report that shows all the - coding, tracking codes, dates, who created and who approved, Description, etc and ability to run reports on only those that are not Billed and both with and without detailed lines would be more helpful.23 votesHi everyone, thanks for your feedback here. We appreciate there are more details some in the idea here would like to see around reporting of Purchase orders in Xero.
We wanted to highlight for those in the conversation that it may help - There are Purchase order common formats in the Payable Invoice Detail report that you could use.
For example, in the All purchase orders detail report, you can add a column to show the account, tracking and any other line item info you need.
We want to be open that we don't have any plans right now for additional Purchase order reporting, however we'll continue to keep an eye on the idea here and share if there is any news.

Invoicing - Make multiple payments without exiting invoice
Entering multiple payments to an Invoice in Xero. Currently it exits the invoice when you enter a part payment in the payment section. I often want to enter several payments for cash received and card payment received on several days and have to keep going back into the invoice for each payment.

AU Payroll - Line item breakdown of payslips - YTD
Hi, It would be great if payslips line items match the 'pay template' pay items or alternatively, for pay items that have a YTD amount to be shown on all payslips (with the Nil or $amount for the current pay period as applicable with the YTD) to breakdown 'Other Previous Earnings'.
This will also assist tracking multiple pay items where it can vary each pay cycle, coding and tracking STP rates and categories, YE finalisation and review. Many thanks.35 votes -
Contact - Add field for payment terms (e.g cash on delivery, late payer)
I want to be able to flag COD clients, so the sales team know to collect payment at the point of sale.
8 votesHi Sharon, recently we released a new feature in Contacts that will enable you to add a note for a contact that can be visible from a contacts record - Right hand panel meaning you could add any detail about contacts that you receive payment from at the time goods & services are supplied in this field.
Is this enough to solve your needs here? 🙂

New invoicing - Display the item code
Display the item PRODUCT CODE (similar to the old invoicing) - we have a lot of similarly named products, so need to see the product code to differentiate.
103 votesQuick turn around on this one, team. Today we've released a change, and you'll now find item code is shown when viewing an invoice with new invoicing. Thank you for your feedback and voting on this idea.

Report Codes - Add/Edit codes from Chart of Accounts
Can we please have the report codes shown & editable on the chart of accounts page, and also through the actual reports?
Reasons for the request:
1. It is a logical workflow to specify how an account is to be reported when setting it up
2. It saves having to view the report, realise a report code needs correction and then having to close the report to do this, if you can drill down straight from the report as displayed.
3. As the account balance is shown on the Chart of Accounts page, it makes it clearer which accounts actually…45 votesHi everyone, we've just released a change so if you're a part of a Xero practice you'll now see we've added a new ‘Report code’ column to the Chart of Accounts page, that displays the report code and report code name. This should help save you time, and easily review report codes before running report templates.

Bank Accounts | Account Transaction - show related account codes
It would make a quick check of allocations so much easier if the dashboard for bank accounts allowed you to customise the "account transaction screen" so you could toggle between options like you can under reports - account transactions. By enabling account codes to show in the "cash book side" would help us identify misallocations so much quicker and the data is there ...

Reporting - Sort by Account Name or Account Code with option to hide code
Ability to sort by Account Name or Code when customising reports, without having to show the detail of sort. e.g sort by account code without showing the code on published reports
Purpose: More professional documentation and increased flexibility and customisation with reports
52 votesHi team, appreciate not exactly what's being asked here but to confirm what's available at present.
In the Balance Sheet and Profit & Loss you can now show Account code through the More option. From here, use the layout editor to drag & drop accounts to the order you'd like.
Once set up deselect the option to show Account code and your ordering will remain while the codes are not shown within the report.
You can also Save as custom so you can then access this layout anytime you need.
To go deeper with the insights for our team here, it's be good to know the specific reports you're wanting to see this feature in.

Journal Import - Add field for tax basis
Journal Accrual or Cash Basis default setting and journal import column.
Default journal setting in is Xero is to post on a cash basis - apply a settings to select which basis is the default method (Cash or Accrual)
Import journals on accrual basis - add an extra column to the import template to state if the journal is accrual or cash basis or a default setting if blank.

Reporting - Ability to create own report code structure
what about the possibility of practices creating their own report code structure? with infinite report codes capable of being added? to accommodate flexible reporting structures?
It is truly difficult to automate reporting where a practice does not control the chart structure. this is because clients often create new chart codes because their particular expense doesnt neatly fit the chart options available...so a new expense/revenue/etc account is added and then the report pack grows in size (with similar account types that really should be grouped for reporting) to the point where it is unusable...unless the practice manually maps into a "group"…

Sales Invoice - Option to 'Approve and add a payment'
I often collect cash payments that I then create invoices for, rather than having to click on Approve then click on Add payment, it would be great to have the option to Approve and add payment in one click.

Xero Reporting for Philippines ( BIR compliance)
People here in PH are starting to use Xero and I think many more will use it too if you create reports that are required by our Tax Authority such as:
Sales Journal
Purchase Journal
Cash Receipts Journal
Cash Disbursements JournalMost of our clients are asking for this. I really hope you will be able to implement this.
7 votesHi everyone, just wanting to highlight that as Caroline has suggested, it is likely the Account Transactions reports in Xero could be used to create the reports required. However, this depends on what information you require each report to contain.
If anyone is able to reply with more specific details on whether any information is unable to be obtained via the account transaction report this will help our product team better understand what's needed.
