Reporting - A more detailed Purchase Order report
Purchase Order Reporting
The current work around of using the Outstanding Purchase Orders Summary report lacks a lot of the vital info that's needed to manage Purchase Orders and create accruals at month end. A report that shows all the - coding, tracking codes, dates, who created and who approved, Description, etc and ability to run reports on only those that are not Billed and both with and without detailed lines would be more helpful.21 votesHi everyone, thanks for your feedback here. We appreciate there are more details some in the idea here would like to see around reporting of Purchase orders in Xero.
We wanted to highlight for those in the conversation that it may help - There are Purchase order common formats in the Payable Invoice Detail report that you could use.
For example, in the All purchase orders detail report, you can add a column to show the account, tracking and any other line item info you need.
We want to be open that we don't have any plans right now for additional Purchase order reporting, however we'll continue to keep an eye on the idea here and share if there is any news.

Customer Payments - Payments on Account, instead of Overpayments/Prepayments
You can only allocate payment on accounts to a customer ledger on Xero by clicking 'Overpayment' which is very long winded. Please can this be simplified to select the customer and then allocate straight as a 'payment on account' and then this can be allocated to the invoice once this is uploaded.
In addition, if there is money out that gets contra'd against money received from a client, there is no way of coding this to the customer ledger.

AU Payroll - Line item breakdown of payslips - YTD
Hi, It would be great if payslips line items match the 'pay template' pay items or alternatively, for pay items that have a YTD amount to be shown on all payslips (with the Nil or $amount for the current pay period as applicable with the YTD) to breakdown 'Other Previous Earnings'.
This will also assist tracking multiple pay items where it can vary each pay cycle, coding and tracking STP rates and categories, YE finalisation and review. Many thanks.35 votes -

Invoicing - Make multiple payments without exiting invoice
Entering multiple payments to an Invoice in Xero. Currently it exits the invoice when you enter a part payment in the payment section. I often want to enter several payments for cash received and card payment received on several days and have to keep going back into the invoice for each payment.

New invoicing - Display the item code
Display the item PRODUCT CODE (similar to the old invoicing) - we have a lot of similarly named products, so need to see the product code to differentiate.
103 votesQuick turn around on this one, team. Today we've released a change, and you'll now find item code is shown when viewing an invoice with new invoicing. Thank you for your feedback and voting on this idea.

Contact - Add field for payment terms (e.g cash on delivery, late payer)
I want to be able to flag COD clients, so the sales team know to collect payment at the point of sale.
8 votesHi Sharon, recently we released a new feature in Contacts that will enable you to add a note for a contact that can be visible from a contacts record - Right hand panel meaning you could add any detail about contacts that you receive payment from at the time goods & services are supplied in this field.
Is this enough to solve your needs here? 🙂

Reporting - Sort by Account Name or Account Code with option to hide code
Ability to sort by Account Name or Code when customising reports, without having to show the detail of sort. e.g sort by account code without showing the code on published reports
Purpose: More professional documentation and increased flexibility and customisation with reports
49 votesHi team, appreciate not exactly what's being asked here but to confirm what's available at present.
In the Balance Sheet and Profit & Loss you can now show Account code through the More option. From here, use the layout editor to drag & drop accounts to the order you'd like.
Once set up deselect the option to show Account code and your ordering will remain while the codes are not shown within the report.
You can also Save as custom so you can then access this layout anytime you need.
To go deeper with the insights for our team here, it's be good to know the specific reports you're wanting to see this feature in.

Report Codes - Add/Edit codes from Chart of Accounts
Can we please have the report codes shown & editable on the chart of accounts page, and also through the actual reports?
Reasons for the request:
1. It is a logical workflow to specify how an account is to be reported when setting it up
2. It saves having to view the report, realise a report code needs correction and then having to close the report to do this, if you can drill down straight from the report as displayed.
3. As the account balance is shown on the Chart of Accounts page, it makes it clearer which accounts actually…42 votesHi everyone, we've just released a change so if you're a part of a Xero practice you'll now see we've added a new ‘Report code’ column to the Chart of Accounts page, that displays the report code and report code name. This should help save you time, and easily review report codes before running report templates.

Xero Reporting for Philippines ( BIR compliance)
People here in PH are starting to use Xero and I think many more will use it too if you create reports that are required by our Tax Authority such as:
Sales Journal
Purchase Journal
Cash Receipts Journal
Cash Disbursements JournalMost of our clients are asking for this. I really hope you will be able to implement this.
7 votesHi everyone, just wanting to highlight that as Caroline has suggested, it is likely the Account Transactions reports in Xero could be used to create the reports required. However, this depends on what information you require each report to contain.
If anyone is able to reply with more specific details on whether any information is unable to be obtained via the account transaction report this will help our product team better understand what's needed.

Sales Invoice - Option to 'Approve and add a payment'
I often collect cash payments that I then create invoices for, rather than having to click on Approve then click on Add payment, it would be great to have the option to Approve and add payment in one click.

Bank Accounts | Account Transaction - show related account codes
It would make a quick check of allocations so much easier if the dashboard for bank accounts allowed you to customise the "account transaction screen" so you could toggle between options like you can under reports - account transactions. By enabling account codes to show in the "cash book side" would help us identify misallocations so much quicker and the data is there ...

MFA - Move cursor to code field automatically
When I login to Xero, I enter my email address and password and am taken to the second page (MFA).
I'm then asked for the authenticator code, but I have to click into the field to enter the code.
Xero knows that there is an almost 100% likelihood that the first (and only) thing I am going to do on that page is enter the MFA code.
Xero should automatically have the cursor in that field so that I can type the code without clicking into the field.

Executive Summary Report - Exclude Internal Transfers
If you take $20 out of your own wallet and put it in your pocket, that's not "Cash Received," but the Xero Executive Summary report treats it that way.
Transfers between cash accounts that you own (e.g. between two checking accounts) show as "Cash Received" and "Cash Spent" in the ExecSum report. This is clearly wrong.
Please fix this. If you insist this is somehow a feature, please add an option to exclude internal transfers from the Cash section of the report.
Putting it another way: the Cash Received and Cash Spent numbers should reflect what was…
2 votesThanks for bringing this up here, Rob. This is something the team quickly drew their attention to, as well - You'll find we've recently released a update for the new Executive Summary report to exclude transfers from 'Cash received' and 'Cash spent'. 🙂

Project report - Include account name and account code
Please enable assigning manual journals to projects and for project reports to also include the account name / account code.
The benefits from using tracking categories far outweigh that of Xero project if features like manual journal and account transactions report is not able to reflect or is not consistent with the use of Xero projects.
Please also consider producing a warning if project name is being duplicated. Another thing that should be critically considered is to include projects under the Find & Recode feature.

UK Payroll - Simple view xml submission receipt from HMRC
Currently you can only view the official submission receipts and their associated IRmark via an XML file. It would be nice to see this in a more user friendly manner and without all the associated coding tags and data.
