  1. When generating a batch payment for multiple bills, the reference column of the batch payment is driven from the reference field within the supplier contact.

    When a batch payment is made the reference is automatically set from contacts rather than the reference on the invoice. This means that in the reference column of the batch payment the invoice reference is required to manually added, doing this also updates the contact which means this process has to be completed every month otherwise you end up exporting payments with the previous months invoice reference as the payment reference.

    Hi everyone, rounding back we appreciate there hasn't been much explanation before now on why this idea is not planned. 

    Coming across from our previous forums this has been reviewed by many of our team in product. To start, and explain logic behind the scenes - Xero allows references to be pulled from either:

    • what's been entered as a reference for the contact, or
    • the bill reference

    Batch payments is designed to cater for businesses that require the same reference for every invoice via the reference entered in the Contact record.

    👉For example utility companies needing an account number entered as a bill reference; so that the utility company knows who paid them.

    If you need to have all the payee references be pulled from the bill instead of the contact record then you can remove the reference from the contact field when processing your batch. Moving forward all of…

  2. Account Transactions Report

    It doesn't make sense that you can separately select the 'Contact' column and the 'Description' column, but that the 'Contact' details show in the 'Description' column.

    It feels like the 'Description' column in the Account Transactions report is wrongly pointing to the 'Contact' data!

    If the 'Description' detail is not available in the Account Transactions report, this column should be withdrawn from the options available for selection.

    It would be great to get this issue fixed.

    Thank you for your engagement on this idea. To help explain a little on how this works in the Account Transactions(AT) report - what shows in the Description field when running the report is dependent on the type of account you're running the report for.

    For example, when running the AT report for a bank account, transactions will show the Contact name in the Description field. This is because the detail that is entered on each description line in the body of a transaction relates to the account the line item is coded to. 

    To see the detail, you'll need to run the report for the account code, not the bank account. This is also how the report works for some other accounts such as the system sales tax account, Account Receivable, and Accounts Payable.

  3. It would be very useful to be able to separate Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable to classify the contacts between external and internal (intercompany/group). This would assist with the consolidated views for a group of entities.

  4. When managing the finances for rental properties it would be great if a default rate could be set up against the 'Account' for rent payments so that the Unit Price ie weekly rent, doesn't have to be entered each time (52 times a year)

  5. While it's nice to be able to enter a fixed value discount in our business we use % discounts only. We find the new quote discount field feature that requires a % for the discount or it defaults to $ amounts is causing us to make errors. This is especially confusing as it use to default to % and the invoice still does. I have a couple of suggested updates:
    - Create a site wide setting to choose whether your default is $ or %.
    - Include a dollar symbol when it is a fixed amount discount to highlight…

  6. I forward invoices to Bills via the email feature.
    I then batch process these at regular intervals.
    There could be 50 to 100 bills here.
    I have set default purchase contacts for all these contacts yet none of these drafts use that until I go into the bill for manual approval.
    This wastes a lot of time as I have to go through each bill 1 by 1.

    Allow me to bulk edit the accounts on Draft Bills and / or use the default account setting for that contact.

  9. Ability to set as default whether the "Show journal on cash basis reports" should be ticked or un-ticked on manual journals

  10. On the Account Watchlist in the Dashboard, I would like to display a custom budget that I created for 2024 in lieu of the default 'overall budget' that it shows. Please make this feature possible as it will provide a good, quick snapshot on how we're trending to budget w/out having to pull up reports. An alternative would be to tag a custom budget as the 'default' that would appear in the accounts watchlist. Regardless, let's make this happen! Thanks for considering.

  13. There is currently no way of putting a default mark-up on supplier invoices that are being assigned to projects. Many of my clients have a set mark-up on all invoices, so the means that they are frequently entering the same information. This would be handy to have a default setting (with the options of it being overriden if needed) to stop having to do the same thing over an over.

  14. Better documentation for BankAccountNumber needed.

    The documentation for importing contacts is not clear, specifically how to include banking details.

    First time users, such as myself, could be greatly assisted if the documentation for the BankAccountNumber was described as <bsb><space><account number>.

    I did a large number of documentation and Google searches before it clicked that the BSB and account number are both specified in the BankAccountNumber field. This is not obvious.

  15. When viewing a contact it would be helpful to have all the invoices or bills listed by "date". Currently they are listed by "activity date" but that is not relevant if I'm searching for an invoice. It can be changed manually, by clicking "date" twice (first time it brings oldest to the top!), but it's a very basic normal thing to look for invoices by the invoice date.

  16. When sending a new invoice to a client with multiple contacts, I find the most recent invoice relevant to the current project and copy the email details from the History and Notes entry for the action Invoice Sent.
    If there is more than one email address, the old invoicing used to recognise that a comma separated the email addresses. I could paste that into the 'To' box without issue.
    BUT IN THE NEW INVOICING, I get an error message when pasting multiple emails into the 'To' box: "One or more email addresses are invalid."

  17. Option to use supplier account number as Payee reference when making Open Banking payments by direct bank transfer.

    Currently the Supplier account number is not displayed anywhere.

    It defaults the Payee reference to the Bill reference which is fine when paying single bills to a supplier. However, if I want to make a single payment to the supplier for multiple bills (group by Payee option), we would want to enter our Supplier Account number as the Payee reference. See attached.

  18. Contacts. I would like to say the upgraded version of contacts is clunky, and would prefer the older system over this 'new upgraded' system. Having to 'save and exit' before adding all other contact details is adding more steps to an otherwise simple process. Thanks

    Hi Vashte, appreciate change can take a little getting used to.

    However, we can help you out here! While the Save and exit is always available when adding or editing a contact you can simply click through each section. 

    The detail you enter between section will hold until you leave the page - So, you can enter in all your details before selecting Save and exit. 

  19. Currently remittance advice can be sent based on payments. It is not possible to send multiple remittances at the same time without using the batch payment method.

    As we have a lot to send, is it possible to look into some ways to send some remittance advice in a more efficient way for cases like with several payments to one person or multiple advice to multiple receivers? Or any automation for regular ones? Instead of downloading PDF one by one / sending email by payments one by one?
