  1. New Invoicing Autosave function - Does not work in Edit Mode

    When you create a new invoice the autosave function is there.
    However, if you approve an invoice and then try to edit it, then the autosave is not there and you must manually click update.
    Can you please make this feature more consistent. Either everything is autosave or not autosave. Having some aspects will create confusion and lost data

  2. New invoicing is missing the mark by getting rid of Classic Features. I can no longer do math when making a payment. I will often post a partial payment ie: 50% payment, I can add /2 or *.5 after the prefilled amount. I can no longer do this in New Invoicing. Why get rid of features? So frustrating now that Classic Invoicing is gone in less than 50 days. It was much more efficient to have add payment at the bottom of the invoice opposed to jumping to the top of the screen to add a payment, and now…

  3. BRING BACK CLASSIC INVOICING
    We are extremely frustrated with Xero's recent change to email branding, which now forces our invoices and communications to include the Xero logo. This change makes our company look unprofessional and cheap, as if we are using a third-party service rather than managing our own finances.

    Branding is crucial for maintaining trust and credibility with our clients, and this decision undermines that. As a result, we are now reverting to manually sending invoices outside of Xero to maintain our professional image—adding unnecessary time and effort to our workflows.

    Appreciate your feedback here and I see you have also found the idea around the Xero logo shown on invoices sent to customers.

    We want to be transparent that we will not be bringing back classic invoicing, however we are still committed to developing and bringing further improvements to new invoicing that we know matter to our customers. You'll find a few ideas that have been raised across the forums here that are in the progress of being worked on by our product teams.

  4. Add a new field for "Row number" in customized invoice. So that we can see how many lines items in one invoice & fulfill client needs.

    Hi Shawn, to make sure we understand the idea here - would you like this field to be visible to the contact. Say when a certain branding theme is applied? Or just an internal to view when creating invoices in Xero? Thanks

  5. We have many suppliers that reject invoices if we send them direct from Xero. Hence we have to download a PDF copy and email it manually from our finance inbox. This process now takes 5 clicks as opposed to one click in classic invoicing. The new process is to click "Approve & Email", but then to exit this screen. Then move across the screen to the left top corner and check the box to mark it as "sent", then move all the way back to the right and click "Print PDF" and then wait for it to open in…

    Hi community, today we released the ability to mark an invoice as sent when printing in new invoicing. Now, when you select to 'Print PDF' you'll receive a prompt to ask if you'd like to mark the invoice as sent - see in my image below. Thanks again for your engagement on this here 😊

  7. Please change the Type of the Invoice Reference field on New Invoicing to Allow for extended text formatting capabilities. Make it the same data type as the Summary Field on Quotes or the Description Field on Invoice Line items. So that the invoice reference field allows and saves Carriage Returns and Tab characters.

  8. An option to see how many 'days' due in preview section for the new version of invoicing

    Could we have an option in xero please to select 'due 30 days' from when we approve/send an invoice ?
    In the classic invoicing when you preview it (before approving and sending it) it would always say how many 'days' it is due as well as the 'due date' this helps as we expect payment within 30 days of the customer receiving the invoice not 30 days from the invoice date.

  9. Under the old invoicing, when an invoice was emailed to a client for the first time, the email address used for that first invoice automatically populated the Contact card's email address at the time the invoice was sent.
    This meant that if the invoice was unpaid, the reminder would be able to go to the same person who received the invoice.
    However the new invoicing doesn't automatically populate the Contact's email address.
    This means an extra step is needed to ensure the Contact card is updated.
    If this step isn't taken, then the automated reminders don't go out.

    Hi Jo, interesting one here as some users would like the contact to be update but also others that wouldn't. It'll be good to get a sense of users that would like to see the contact record updated with the email used when sending from your idea here.

    No plans to change this behaviour at present but we'll share if there's any news.

  10. In New Invoicing, I need the ability to view the files in the file library prior to attaching them to an invoice, as I can do in Classic Invoicing. This is because when received into the file library, the files aren't always in the same order as they were scanned. I tried attaching a file using New Invoicing and it wasn't the right file and, because I couldn't return the file to the file library, I had to rescan the document back into the file library.   11. Reducing clicks:
    When applying a payment to a bill or an invoice, I usually want to attach a source document (image of check, confirmation of our POS system, etc.). Right now I cannot do it while applying the payment. Right now (in 'old' invoicing/bill) I have to instead apply the payment, find myself in the accounts transaction overview, go back to invoice, click on the payment I just applied and then I have to option of uploading/attaching a document. Very inconvenient.

  12. Integrate invoicing with the US Govvernment Invoice Processing Platform, which covers nearly all invoicing of US Government Contracts, other than DoD and Intelligence Community. Right now, there’s only a manual entry process from a Xero generated invoice. https://www.ipp.gov/

  13. Thanks for allowing the contact to remain when copying an invoice over - but please can you allow the defaults for the contact e.g. Tax rate to pull through as well?
    I have found when changing the account, or just adding a new item, that it is not bringing this in (as the little warning states when you are copying) but this is a real pain as you have to keep checking the Tax rate and amending when it isn't correct for that contact.

    Quick spotting there, team. Thanks for staying engaged through this idea. I can confirm that this was a bonus change that has been implemented with the release of other improvements in the Contact field.

    As you've noted, now when you copy an invoice and select the same contact it will auto apply that contact's defaults.

    Our team are working to remove that warning that defaults won't be applied so you should see that go soon.

  14. Hey Xero, there seems to be a lot of issue and complaints about new invoicing. How about giving us all a break and re-enable the old invoicing till you get thing sorted out.

    • Cant stop auto save , there is no undo button if you make a mistake.
    • Tabbing between fields is not the same.
    • Can't add expenses and leave them un-allocated to a GL, I know that the expense is @ cost price and needs to be completed. -Cant change the Customer with Billable expenses assigned without loosing the billable expenses and have to re-assign them

    Appreciate your feedback, Selwyn. We try to keep each idea separate so it's clear to others in community what they're adding their vote for, we can gauge the interest in a particular feature, and we can keep everyone updated of any development.

    In relation to the points you've shared here we have an idea you may like to join around being able to switch off autosave, and another around the auto suggest feature that current fills in the account GL field for you and relates to your second point on leaving this blank.

    Our team did make some changes to the flow of tabbing, so this should be more logical however it'd be good to get more detail on what's causing you issues when tabbing in new invoicing atm.

    It might help to get a bit more detail about the billable expense scenario you're running into, too. In terms…

  15. On the new invoicing, when additional columns are selected, a scrollbar is added to the invoice layout and interrupts the smooth capture process. Having to manually scroll from one side to the other to view details is not ideal.

    Consider either auto-adjusting the column widths or allow for the automatic expansion of the invoice layout width when additional columns are selected. This way, users could view all necessary details without the need for manual scrolling.

I'm now pleased to share that we've released a new line item grid within invoicing that embodies a lot of changes our customers have been asking for. Most importantly to the idea here, our teams have optimised the padding, text size and columns width to make this more compact so you can see more detail without the need to scroll.

  17. Currently: In new invoicing we are provided with suggested items when completing fields such as "To:".
    Using Enter at this points selects that highlighted suggestion, but using Tab ignores the highlighted item.

    Request: Enable Tab to be used in new invoicing to confirm a highlighted selection. The same function as Enter currently provides within this context.
    Tab is an active keyboard option in other areas of Xero such as Bank Reconciliations so this would keep the UI more consistent.

    Hi team, we recently made a change to the tabbing behaviour, so now when you tab to a field and highlight an option, tabbing to the next field will hold the selection that was highlighted.

    For example pressing Tab in the 'To' field will hold the highlighted contact, and move you onto the 'Issue date' field.

  18. The new invoicing doesn`t transfer the "Reference" field information to the email area and I have to retype this every time. The previous version just transferred it all. Now this means more work, having to input the reference three times in the process
    Also there is no confirmation anywhere that the files I attach are being sent. If you PREVIEW it does not show the files anywhere ?

    Hi team, returning to the idea here and rounding back on my last update. Currently it is not possible to edit the Account name or Code of an account from within new invoicing. You'll need to do this by going to the Chart of Accounts screen and updating this, there.

    This is not a feature within classic or new invoicing. However, we'll leave the idea open here so we can get continued interest and consider as a possible future enhancement within new invoicing.

  20. New invoicing - ability to type "." between numbers (like you can in bills) i.e 24.6 then becomes 24 June after you press Tab.

    Right now it only seems to accept 24/6, but I'm sure you used to be able to type 24.6 Tab and then it would convert to the date. If you use "." now, it will default to todays date

    Understand our customers have different habits when entering dates, Emily. Atm you can use '-' or '/' to separate n umbers in your dates, however as you've found '.' isn't an option. We'll begin gathering interest in this here, and I'll share if there are any updates planned.
