Salary - restrict access to view salary entries
Stop staff viewing salary information via the contact or the account code, this is a MASSIVE problem and is costing real money right now. I am sure we are not the only business for whom this is a huge problem!
1 voteHi Damien, we'll need a bit more information on your workflow to best understand your needs here, and this would be best raised with our support team directly as a start.
It doesn't look like you've been in touch with our specialists at Xero Support yet, so I'd recommend raising a case with them through Xero Central where they'll be able to get more detail of your processes and if there's any recommendations they can make to help you to censor sensitive information from your staff.

Navigation - Move GST return to Tax
Can GST returns be under the tax tab (not sure where it is but it isn't there or under reports; currently under accounting tab/ reports).
5 votesHi team, we really appreciate your feedback and getting to know the new navigation.
We want to confirm with the Tax menu in Xero's new navigation GST Return will be available, or the relevant Sales Tax report for your organisation's region (e.g Activity Statement in AU, VAT Return for UK).
As you can with favoriting reports, it'll also be possible to favourite and show this report from the Reporting menu if you choose.

Bulk reconcile bank transactions for accounts without bank feeds
We have deposit and cash accounts with no bank feed, I would like to be able to reconcile a whole month's transactions in one go rather than each individual line (mark as reconciled).
I know the balance at the end of the month is correct so I would like to be able to tick all transactions and 'mark as reconciled' in one hit.2 votesHi team, this is already possible. However in order to bulk mark as reconciled you'll need to enable this option.
When in a bank account in Xero, click the '?' icon at the top of the screen where you should see the option to turn on 'Enable Mark as Reconciled'. Its based on your user login so while this will turn it on for yourself, another user in the organisation will need to follow these actions to for themself.

Draft bills
Would like to be able to select multiple draft bills to review. Then once you have posted the current bill it opens the next one to review and process until all have been processed. Going back to draft bills each time is time consuming.
1 voteHi Gillian, you may have noticed the eye icon next to your bills in the list view. From here you can get a quick view of the bill, and recently we also released the ability to edit bills from the quick view, so you can easily make changes, and move on to the next bill in the list without having to leave the list at all 😊

Navigation - Rearrange Accounting Menu
Would love to see the Accounting menu split so that there are new menus for Reporting & Bank Accounts. Show under the Accounting menu all the actions (journals, fixed assets, chart of accounts, advanced accounting, plus favourites). Then a separate menu for Reporting - listing the different reporting sections Adviser, Custom, Drafts, Archived etc. plus favourites). And a separate menu for Bank Accounts (reconciliation report, bank accounts, bank rules, etc).
1 voteThanks again for your feedback through the idea here. We appreciate there are many different ways our customers feel menus and ways to navigate Xero features and products would best serve their needs.
There was lots of research behind the top level menus that you now have with Xero's new navigation experience - As requested here you'll find Reporting is now it's own menu. And, while Bank Accounts are within the Accounting menu, you'll find we've added quick options for Bank Rules, through the new Homepage which is coming soon you can quickly access reconciliation reports, manage the account, or enter transactions.

Getting Started with Xero - List of tasks
Create a task list for new users of what they need to set up or complete in order to start working. Include links to the learning material for those tasks. New small business owner and I was not sure what exactly I had to set up or edit before just jumping in so I learnt when doing the tasks that I needed to set up a default invoice as example
1 voteHi Phil, thanks for raising this with us. Luckily I cna let you know that Xero has indeed set up certain tasks when you first set up your new Xero organisation, adding bank accounts and bankfeeds, invoice templates, adding users. Im sorry that this wasn't clear to you when you started your organisation. We also have options to set up calls when you hit certain milestones if you need more help. But thank you for letting us know this would be helpful and I hope we can be helpful when needed.😊

Multicurrency - Make transaction FX rates available to the API
It seems to calculate values (unrealised gains) for international transactions we need exchange rates.
However after retrieving the rates from XE.com, as well as another provider, we are unable to pull the exact FX values used by Xero, which means we cannot recreate the value from Xero reports. This interferes with our ability to automatically reconcile and may cause confusion for accountants if they cross check.
Xero support advised us that they pull live FX rates at 11pm of the timezone of the organisation, however in general it is not possible to pull these live rates historically from XE.com.
…
5 votesHi Brendan, appreciate the detail provided along with your idea here. We have a separate community forum where you can log ideas related to improvements for Xero's API. While they have a few ideas around exchange rates what you've raised doesn't appear to have been requested yet.
We'll close the idea in this forum but you're welcome to copy and paste your detail from this to create a new idea in the forum there where others interested can join and we have experts that can keep you updated of any changes surrounding this. Thanks

Retain the edit, copy and void features for bills and invoices. These are used all the time in our organisations
Accountants need to to be able to amend the account to which an invoice or one of the lines on it is allocated, as we can with the edit function in Classic Invoicing. We also need to be able to edit the Tracking Category of an invoice or line on the invoice. This is vital for our organisation and likely to be so for others businesses where invoices and bills are booked by financial staff and checked by Accountants. The ability to copy a previous invoice is also used all the time and saves a huge amount of…
2 votesAppreciate your idea here, Michael. While it won't be possible to retain Classic invoicing, it is possible to Edit, Copy and Void in New Invoicing.
That said, a couple of the Copy to options (to a purchase order or bill) are planned for new invoicing but aren't there quite yet. You can stay updated on these through the ideas I've linked.

Xero - Maintain previous design style in Xero
Keep the Xero Classic Look everyone preferred.
The design of the New Invoicing, Bills and Fixed Assets pages are sadly reminiscent of an excel spreadsheet.
One of the enjoyments of the Xero software compared to its competitors are the fresh, clean pages that make it inviting to use. When changing to new function, Xero has changed its design elements and is missing the 'attractiveness' that has been part of Xero's signature branding.
Specifically black text, flat checkboxes, grey cell borders and grey column headers makes it feel like an outdated 1990s program.
I am hearing similar comments from my clients.…
5 votesAppreciate your feedback here, and I've shared this back with our teams at Xero. We want to be upfront that as we continue to develop Xero products and features and update technology, this will ultimately result in some change to designs, actions and flows.
Product ideas here is a great place to share what improvements we can make in specific features or how we could develop new features that would enable you to grow your businesses.
As we make decisions around new experiences we're keeping customers front of mind. Our product teams regularly review feedback and consider asks from our community in product ideas. We also do thorough testing before changes are released, to try and make transitions as smooth as possible for our customers.

Bills - Highlight/flag potential duplicate bills after creation
Currently if a duplicate Bill to Pay is entered this only highlights/flags as duplicate when you are first creating the Bill or are editing the bill at a later date. Once it has been approved, it no longer highlights/flags this as a potential duplicate.
It would be great if Xero could flag that this could be a duplicate in 2 places:
1) on the bills to pay screen, somewhere out to the side (like the attachments) or perhaps the whole row in a different colour to identify that there are 2 bills for the same supplier with the same invoice…5 votesHi team, as TJ noticed our duplicate detection service has now been released to all users 😁
From the Bills list you'll now see a banner if there are duplicate bills to review and you can also access this option from the 3 dot drop down menu in the top left of the bills list. We've shared a bit more info on how this all works on Xero central.
Right now you'll be able to take action on Draft or Awaiting payment bills from the Action column, however to view or edit a bill you'll need to return to the list page to open this.
We're looking at possible improvements so you can view and manage ills within this page, too.

New invoicing - Pay now link in email
We use many xero accounts, and for two of them, when accessing the invoice link, the invoice appears first, followed by a "PayNow" card payment option in the top left corner. However, for the other two accounts, the card payment window appears first without the invoice, which causes inconvenience to customers. (Of course, there is a download option at the bottom right.) Please change the settings to make the invoice appear first. The specialist can't fix this, and the different output seems to be a xero system issue. Please fix it soon.
4 votesHi everyone, within Email Settings you can edit the email template and deselect 'Include action to online invoice and detail summary'. This will strip back the look of the email a bit but this means the pay now, or Review and pay link will stop showing and instead you can just include the link to view the online invoice for your customers.
If you'd like to have a look at how this appears before implementing in your org, try sending yourself an invoice from the demo company.

Report templates - Annual accounts templates up to do date and in line with legislation
The Trust - Annual Accounts Xero SPFR template for trusts > Notes to the Financial Statements > 1. Reporting Entity states "Legal or Trading Name is a trust established by a trust deed dated [insert field: trust deed date], and subject to the Trustees Act 1956." this is incorrect as the Trusts Act 2019 passed on 30 July 2019 has replaced the Trustee Act 1956. Xero have advised "While the team is aware the templates may need updating given current focus being on the expiration of old reports they do not have the capacity to give it a priority…
2 votesHi team, templates have now been updated to refer to the new legislation. Thanks for your contribution and sharing in product ideas, here.

Bills - Back button after adding a payment, to view other bills for the same supplier
When paying a supplier bill, there should be a back button to get back to the same supplier to continue paying more of that suppliers outstanding bills due for payment once a payment has been made. Currently once you have paid a single bill for a supplier, you have to go back to the bills page and search for another bill or search for the supplier again, it takes twice as long as it should and makes more room for error (our company like many others i would guess need to check each bill against the products we ordered with…
2 votesHi team, appreciate the interest and sharing your idea in the forums here. We recently released enhancements to the Bills quick view (eye icon) from the list of bills. You'll find you can now edit and make payments on bills from the quick view without having to leave your list of bills. Meaning you can jump from one bill to the next with ease!

Xero Advisor Financials - Automatically fill notes or alert if figures don't match
Currently notes need to be updated manually on the financial statements (as far as I am aware). New accounts need to be added to the respective notes otherwise the figure in the notes will not match the figures in the financial statements.
I feel that this is inviting error as inevitably there will be times where this process is overlooked.it would significantly simplify the process if Xero recognises where a note is connected to a financial statement line item, and then automatically fills in the notes with the same accounts grouped in the financials.
at the very…4 votesHi community, I'm Brigitte, a Senior Product Manager from our Xero reporting team. We’re doing some research on how partners manage notes in Y/E financial reports, and we’d love to hear about your current workflow using report templates.
How you can help:
- This conversation will take about 30 minutes via video call
- We'll ask you to share your screen to walk us through your current process of preparing/reviewing notes
If you're interested, please use this link to choose a time that best suits you.
If none of the available times work, just reply to my update with a preferred time, and we’ll do our best to accommodate!
We greatly appreciate your constant support & valuable input for the reporting team! Thanks so much.

Hi team, the option to add a % discount to line items of an invoice is available via the Xero Accounting app, on both Android and iOS devices. You'll find this from the menu in the top left (3 dots for Android, and 'Options' on iOS). 😊

Sales invoice - Auto fill sales person
Option to Auto Fill Account, Tax Rate, Sales person for all rows. It gets quite time consuming to manually add for each line (even if it is a button at the top of the fields allowing auto fill of all, that would greatly help)
1 voteHi, Neilson, as noted in my last update, it sounds like Tracking is the most appropriate feature for auto filling your sales person in an invoice. You can add defaults for contacts that'll automatically populate the tracking column as you enter lines within an invoice for that contact.

Use Tab to confirm highlighted selection and move to the next field (don't require clicking enter)
As Xero started to update existing modules, the "new" modules, took on this idiotic philosophy/logic that users should need to click Enter before clicking Tab.
Previously, I could type an account name (or part of one), use up/down arrows to highlight the account in the list, then click Tab to confirm the selection and move to the next field.
This is (fortunately) still the case in the Create transaction screen.
This functionality was removed from New Invoicing.. but fortunately, it was eventually returned.
This functionality has been removed from Adjustments > Bank Fee function.
It's annoying as ****. Just fix…

Lock Previous Year End Accounts & "Compare with" Custom Dates
When changing the year end for a client, it would be nice if previous year's could be locked in dates, fixed assets, etc.
Once the year end is changed, it seems to amend the dates for the previous year in all reports too, if (for example) the new year end means the current "year" runs to 13+ months (such as when the year end is extended): it's hard to get the comparative period in any popular reports to show the previous year as it was filed.
And especially in the TB, I can't get it to show a period for…2 votes -
Invoicing - fix behaviour when using Tab from Issue Date to Due Date
When I am in the Contact field and update the Contact and click Tab, the cursor moves from the Contact field to the Issue Date field and highlights the date in the Issue Date field.
After I update the date in the Issue Date field and click Tab, the cursor moves from the Issue Date field to the Due Date field, momentarily highlights the date in the Due Date field and then immediately moves the cursor to the end of the date.
It's annoying AF.
If I update the Due Date field and click Tab, the cursor moves from the…3 votesSorry to hear the troubles you're running into here, Sam. By default, when you press tab after entering the invoice date to move over to the due date, Xero will highlight the due date for you in the similar manner as it is doing for the invoice date and the invoice number boxes. If you're experiencing issues, or some thing isn't working as you'd expect it to, it's best if you could raise a case with our Xero Support team on Xero Central and our specialists can investigate with you 1-1. Thanks!

file library to dashboard
I would find it helpful to be able to add 'file library' to my dashboard. I have to upload receipts for on account purchases through the month in preparation for the end of month statement and it would speed things up to be able to open file library from dashboard
1 voteHi Sandra, while there isn't a button directly on the dashboard you can easily navigate to the Files library from anywhere in Xero using the keyboard shortcut '/f'. 🙂
