Reporting | Groups - Option to sort in alphabetical order
In the old reports, once the account was added to a subgroup, the account code would automatically be in alphabetical order. However, this is manual for the new reporting.
A good function would be to automate this in the new reports as well (per the old reports) rather than dragging and dropping manually.

AU Payroll - Change reply-to email for payslips
Hello. Keen to have the Auto reply email address that is used for invoices to also be used for payslips. I use a different email to log in to Xero than the one I want staff to reply to.

Invoicing - Option to email invoice as a CSV or PDF
It would be great to have the option to email a customer invoice as a csv or pdf or both. We are getting an increasing number of requests to send the csv version of invoices for our customers and this is currently quite a manual process to email the exported invoices.

Payroll UK - Support for Plan 1 and Plan 2 student loans concurrently
Payroll UK Student Loans
Some employees can have Plan 1 and 2 at the same time. At present Xero payroll can only deal with 1 plan. The option should exist for an employee to select more than 1 Plan and the correct deductions be made.
This is how repayments are allocated between Plan 1 and Plan 2 loans
For the 2023/24 tax year the repayment thresholds are as follows:
• Plan 1 loans: £22,015
• Plan 2 loans: £27,295
If you earn below £22,015 you will make no loan repayments.
If you earn between £22,015 and £27,295 you will make Plan 1 loan repayments only.
If you earn over £27,295 you will make repayments which will be spread across both your Plan 1 and Plan 2 loans. This means that repayments calculated on income between £22,015 and £27,295 will be allocated against your Plan 1 loan and repayments calculated on your income above £27,295 will be allocated against your Plan 2 loan. It's important that Xero Payroll can deal with this scenario.

Inventory - Automatically change Description, Price etc when the Item Code is changed
It makes no sense to always automatically change the description, price etc when the inventory code is changed.
Make this "feature/bug!" optional, very simple to implement and makes XERO more flexible.
1 voteHi David, could you provide a bit more detail of where you're finding this behaviour? It might even be best to raise this with our specialists at Xero Support who can get a closer look in.
Editing an inventory items Item Code can be done independently so you shouldn't have to update the description or price.

Reconciliation - Bulk 'OK' for reconciling bank transactions
Ability to select multiple/all transactions during reconciliation.
Purpose: To save users time from having to reconcile the transactions one by one.
224 votesThanks for all sharing and supporting how bulk reconciling transactions and suggestions that have been matched to statement lines in your bank would help your business.
It's great to see the trust you've built in Xero's capabilities to match and help you save time from manually finding and creating transactions to reconcile your bank.
Along with building on the foundations of our platforms, the teams efforts at present have been on improving the ability to create suggested transactions for more statement lines in your org - With a lot of this being backend logics there's not a heap you'll see from the front side of things but Xero's reconcile engine is getting stronger and overtime you should find even less need to create transactions in your org, yourself.
With this work underway there is no development for being able to reconcile transactions that have the 'OK' presented option atm, but we keep this top of mind as we continue to make Xero reconciliation even more powerful.
For now, cash coding in Xero can help save time with bulk reconciliations where you'll find Xero's suggested create transactions, and any bank rules you've set up are also presented - Find out more on how this works on Xero Central

Bank Reconciliation: Add the ability to search by contact account number when matching transactions
Bank Reconciliation - Match Does Not Work with Contact Account Numbers
The ability to search by contact account numbers when matching bank transactions is essential as most deposits on the bank statements are referenced with the client/customer account number only. The bank reconciliation ignores contact account numbers in totality.

UK Payroll - Set an end date for payroll deductions
I've just set up a salary sacrifice for a cycle to work scheme in payroll. However there isn't an end date in Xero so I have to manually diarise a date to stop the salary sacrifice for the employees. Please could a box be added to automate this.

User Role - Reconcile without access to approve invoices
Being able to customize each user role is quite important as every person in every company does something different. Giving them access to systems they shouldn't have because the User Role they need to do their job allows them access to these other areas is a security risk in general.
Putting in Custom Roles will also allow companies to adjust the Users to their Company Policies for controls.
This is the main reason I am posting this, as we are soon bringing on a new junior accountant where I will need to give them "approval" rights for Invoicing and a few other things in order to perform bank reconciliations. This is going to end with a lot of "Approved" invoices skipping over the controller which is offside from the controls and I cannot find a way around this.

76 votesAppreciate the idea here - Being transparent, developing granular permissions or roles for every feature and action throughout Xero is not in our plans.
Understanding more of the permission sets majority of users need, will help understand where the biggest impact could be made.
I've slightly adjusted the title to suit the needs of the role you mentioned. We'll get a sense of others that'd like this too.

Contacts - Ability to view contact payment method (e.g active DD form, payment plan, CC)
It would be great if, when viewing a contact, there was a quick 'sign/flag' to show if that contact has an active Direct Debit form.
Currently you have to go to >Settings >Payment Service >GoCardless >edit >Direct Debit Forms

UK Payroll - Add pay reference period calendar for Nest pension
Not sure about other pensions, but when using NEST, Xero doesn't currently link up how you would like it to.
Whether you pay staff monthly or weekly, you are bound to have a cut off date for calculating hours which is before the date you send payment to employees.
The info that gets shared when filing the pension records is the "payment date". This physical date falls under the following pay period meaning when the info is transferred to NEST it comes up as the wrong period.
For example:
(monthly pay) 24th Aug - 23rd Sep, with pay on 30th Sep. shows up on NEST as the period 24th Sep - 23rd Oct
(weekly pay) M-F1st-5th with pay day on 12th (following Friday) will show up on NEST as the period M-F 8th-12thMy proposal is simple, in "payroll settings"->"Calendars" tab... Xero should create a separate Calendar here to link with Pensions, lets say its called "pension date" and allows you to choose the "end date of pay period" so that this can be the date used when the pension data is filed,
in the examples above the date would be set as (monthly)- 23rd Sep (weekly)- 5th
then the "payment date" can then carry on be used as its named purpose, for the HMRC and staff to know when they are paid.

Bank Reconciliation - Optimise mobile browser experience for 'Find & Match'
I occasionally log in on mobile to reconcile my bank feeds, via my browser (Firefox, but the problem existed on Chrome as well when I used that). Whenever you reconcile a payment and the auto-focus moves to the next payment, if there's not an invoice suggestion for the amount, the page zooms directly to entering 'Name of the contact' taking up the whole screen. You have to then pinch the whole view repeatedly to zoom out enough to see the option for 'Find & Match'.
Why would manually entering a name be the default, and not 'Find & Match'? I would assume most of your customers are receiving payments on either existing invoices or deposits on quotes, not random payments for which you have to enter all the details?I occasionally log in on mobile to reconcile my bank feeds, via my browser (Firefox, but the problem existed on Chrome as well when I used that). Did you know that you can now use Find and Match on the Xero Accounting app? As the apps are optimised for use on a mobile device this maybe a solution to the issue faced.

NZ Payroll: Timesheet summary reports
It would be really helpful if there was a report that showed the actual amount of hours worked per month per individual and as a total. Our company has busy seasons, as well as quiet seasons and having a report like this would help us in planning our staffing situation.

Inventory - Record stock when Purchase Order entered
Currently, the stock is not updated until the bill is entered. Many times the deliveries can be part-deliveries or billed on multiple bills. It is impossible to part bill and update the stock for the delivered items
Also, we can get billed before any order is even processed by the supplier. To match the bill with the purchase order, it needs to be entered through the purchase order, which updates the stock before it has even arrived in store.
We need the ability to update the stock record in Xero at the time of delivery, not on billing date.
This also requires the ability to show backorders. Currently, the only workaround is to copy the purchase order to a new PO and remove the delivered items. This is inefficient.
There is currently no way to mark off part deliveries against the purchase order, other than the way I have used tracking categories, however the stock record does not get updated until the whole purchase order is billedCurrently, the stock is not updated until the bill is entered.
