New Invoicing - Option to switch Autosave off
I don't want autosave on for invoicing - I use third party software to copy invoice details to a Trello Card, this is triggered when the invoice is saved.
Auto saving will send the invoice info through to Trello before the invoice is complete, meaning not all the info will be sent to Trello.
Are we able to turn off the auto save function in new invoicing?

This is critical. It can't be that difficult to disable this.

disable autosaving or give option to do so. This is causing all kinds of issues. Are you even listening?

How in the F do we look up pricing or back out of doing an invoice when the situation changes or all details are not at hand... then you end uop potentially billing it twice - this is the biggest **** up of an idea ever... pretty sure I voted against this when you first pushed the new invoicing on us ... i actually HATE this new invoicing with a passion.. ten years a user of XERO and I can say this is the bigges backward step i have ever seen

What can i say? That hasn't been said by the thousand of disgruntled users since this new invoicing was available. 7 years in the making I would be asking for a refund.

This blows my mind - 8 pages of comments going back to July 2023; haven't read them all but I have read a lot and none of the ones I have read are positive. And yet autosave remains. Really Xero?

XERO - you used to be the best software provider - listening and reacting positively to customer's suggestions. So good that we recommended you to all of our customers. Now, to be frank, you operate with complete indifference to your customers, focusing solely on maximizing revenue at the expense of service and integrity.
Please bring back the old Xero who would have made the autosave setting optional as soon as they saw the number of user complaints.

This auto-save function screws up creating invoices so badly as it floods the 'history' with useless commits, creates fake drafts that have to be manually deleted, etc.
(FYI leaving reviews on TrustPilot helps potential future Xero users too!)

Please remove this auto-save function

As long as I only have one line for an invoice I don't put the customer in until I've finished getting everything else in so it doesn't save it but I'm dreading this when I have to do my batch invoicing based on membership tiers as there's a lot in some of them. I know that isn't going to work for a lot of users though and they need to get rid of the autosave altogether and let us save a draft like in classic.
Bad enough it takes longer just to do one invoice to make sure everything is correct before I save it, then to look at the history and see of the useless "edited" entries when nothing was really done except I clicked into it is a real pain. -

Hey Xero,
Just coming back to say that I just lost another 20 line items that could have been easily restored in old invoicingThanks for listening to our feedback and ignoring it.

I held off moving to New invoicing until the very last day, because I have a dozen clients using Xero & no one wanted to change over.
It is most distressing that the Auto Save on Drafts can not be turned off.
One of my clients has a complex invoice structure that feeds in from their POS, I need to manually reconcile this with their End of Day report. Now I am stuck with the changes as I work through and if it doesn't balance, I can't revert back to what it was.
If you have a Save and Close button - why can't we have the auto save as an option, so those who DETEST the new invoicing have at least some way to revert back to where the Draft started? -

Now that we have been forced to use the "new invoicing" and this issue is now over a year old, what is Xero's response?
Does Xero have any comment on this issue, or do you not care?

Please turn auto save invoicing off in draft,
if a typo is done in error, that's a big time-consuming problem ???I like someone else's comment below 'I often here my staff having issues when a change to an invoice is made by mistake, accidentally removed an item, line, description or changed a value and then BOOM you have no way to revert or undo the change thanks to the overzealous Autosave.
Whats happening at Xero HQ?, you are removing and replacing things that worked well, before ?

This feature is handy sometimes, but it also massively slows down the admin process - see the attachment, which is just one screenshot of an invoice that we have to edit before we can print it. It'd be really helpful to turn off the 'auto save to drafts' feature at times.
To explain - we take orders over the phone, and then we re-order the items ordered to make it easier for our warehouse to pick. Due to the auto-save, when we re-order the invoice it takes a long time as the webpage is using significant energy re-saving all the time. Dragging the items up and down the invoice is very slow and laborious - what used to take say 5 minutes, is easily doubled. And this is something we do 20-30 times a day. We've cleared the cache, cleared history, used different web browers - its still slow. -

Should never have included this, should have been the same as classic and you got the option to save a draft not have it automatically done.
Big Fail to not include the option to turn this off when developing the new invoicing. -

This is going to result in a whole lot of draft invoices that we will have to sort through and delete and we are so used to starting an invoice, realising we don't need it (for whatever reason) and just closing the page. Really really don't like this feature. I have never once thought "wow I'd really like it to save my invoice as I'm working on it". Who is spending that much time making an invoice anyway?
It also seems to make the process slower because it keeps saving every time you change something.

Please delay turning off of Classic Invoicing until the autosave feature is provided. Autosave does not allow my pre-populated Invoice Number field to be incremented to the next available invoice number when I delete the pre-populated information. It just puts the old info back. Completely stuffs up our process.

The option to toggle Autosave on or off for individuals or organizations doesn't seem like it should be a difficult feature to implement given the very obvious and apparent need for it.
At a very minimum what would be useful is a Change Log in the History and Notes.
I often here my staff having issues when a change to an invoice is made by mistake, accidentally removed an item, line, description or changed a value and then BOOM you have no way to revert or undo the change thanks to the overzealous Autosave.
A meaningful history of changes, or an added feature for version/revision history would be a welcome addition. -

Just had a call from Xero, after adding comments to the case I had raised about this. She is raising a complaint for me, around the new invoicing issues, including autosave not being an option yet. Not sure this will have any impact, but it might be worth everyone raising individual cases & asking them to raise a complaint. Maybe if they get hundreds of complaints they will start to get the message about not releasing something that's inferior to what it's replacing!

There is so much wrong with the autosave function in new invoicing and it needs to have the option to switch it off.
- You have to wait every time you move to the next field because autosave is in progress, wasting time.
- It creates an enormous amount of meaningless history lines making this a joke and very difficult to find actual information that is useful.
- Because of auto save you can't open a dummy invoice have a play with pricing then delete it because it automatically allocates a number. The only way to do this now is to have a permanent draft invoice that will never be used, which is ridiculous.MAKE THE AUTO SAVE OPTIONAL !!!
