New invoicing - Option to use Xero Network
xero to xero Invoicing
We use the Classic Invoicing version on Xero to send Invoices to our inter-companies and clients who are also registered with Xero.
On 02 Sept 2024 this version will retire and only New Invoicing will be available.
We are not able to select "send via Xero Network" from the New Invoicing option (using our Xero Network Key).
Are the technical teams still working on this to have the option available or will this option fall away?
Thank you

Hi Chantelle
As you’ve found, there’s no functionality in New Invoicing to use Xero to Xero invoicing, as this option is being retired.
However, you can raise a suggestion directly with our product team to suggest they implement this functionality in the New Invoicing functionalities, as they're still developing additions and improvements to New Invoicing.
I’ve included a link to Xero Product Ideas where you can view and support current ideas or create a new one to share your thoughts.
Xero Product Ideas: Xero to Xero
Kind regards
Michael
Hi everyone, we thoroughly appreciate all the feedback we've heard from our customers on their use of the Xero network and the importance this is for helping you move efficiently when using new invoicing. Where possible we highly encourage setting up and using eInvoicing as a solution which is wider reaching than just those businesses on Xero, and has more functionality.
In it's current state you can continue to send invoices using the Xero Network from the Awaiting payments list. That said, we've been listening closely and our product team are now considering development to incorporate sending invoices from Xero to Xero within new invoicing, as well as developing on this feature to enable attachments to be included when sending. We'll shift the idea to Under review for now and I'll share as there is more progression of this to update you on.

It would be great if the Xero to Xero invoice will be reinstated as we have some very large invoices that go from one company to another and it would take forever to re enter all details, we also then need to track items. This would be a nightmare.

Hi Xero,
I do intercompany invoicing for 46 companies and you are going to make my day absolute chaos in taking away the Xero to Xero network feature, also we have other staff who also invoice intercompany and really need these invoices to 'pop' up in the other set of books as drafts so myself can find them easily.
So I will be working twice as hard and things will get lost in the pipeline so to speak. We do not have eInvoicing in South Africa and frankly this government might take years to get there.
Hubdoc won't work as we have so many companies in our group.
Please guys we need this function.

Taking away this functionality has a big impact on our operations also.
1) It will increase time to do the process (its another step each time) rather than a one off Xero identifier connection
2) The workaround which has been suggested introduces risk – emailing the invoice from XPM to HUbDoc as every user needs to take off the clients ‘other emails’ – very risky
3) We are generally not happy that we spent most of the last year understanding this was quite an easy process for it to be taken away in a product upgrade – which isn’t an upgrade for many customers but a downgradewe hope the product owner of this area within xero reviews this entire thread and the impact to customers.
Perhaps Xero should consult its customer base prior with focus groups before simply removing functionality that businesses have built their processes upon

Seriously, see the attached screenshot for an example of the time delay with eInvoicing - right side is the invoice history in the sending entity, left side is the bill history in the receiving entity.
eInvoice sent at 4:17pm and received at 6:37pm, 2 hours and 20 minutes later.
I want to pay bills NOW, not after the banks close!

The biggest reason why I would like to still have Xero-to-Xero invoicing still available is that eInvoicing can take several hours to show up in the recipients draft bills. Not so bad when you're sending to unrelated entities, really really annoying when you're sending from one related entity to another, or from one client to another, and you'd like to log straight into the recipient datafile and enter the bill for payment that day.

I need xero to xero for the invoicing.
I issue a lot of invoices to clients using xero to xero and if that disappears I will have to log onto their Xero to enter the invoices manually.
I do not have the time to do that each month! -

Guys hubdoc is dreadful and einvoicing requires VAT registration for the client. Not all our clients are VAT registered.
Why would you discontinue such a useful tool??
Please bring it back asap

We have been using the Xero to Xero function since we started using Xero. As we have a sister company it is very useful to send invoices for shared costs. We would like the new invoicing programme to have the same feature.

With so many intercompany entries, Xero to Xero was a key feature with us selecting Xero. It is an excellent feature and saves so much time sending and receiving invoices from various companies, my vote is to include on the new invoicing.

Xero to xero is an excellent feature and save our time alots. It's really bad if xero to xero does not work on new invoicing and vote to include.

This is really bad if xero to xero does not work on new invoicing and we are being forced to change to it
Xero to xero is an excellent feature and we will be looking for a different provider if xero does not find a better solution

"Our team are continuing to review use cases there are alternative options that offer an improved experience and we'd encourage you exploring;"
For future reference, improved is defined as "having become or been made better"
Feel like someone needed to read that given the options that followed the above quote were all worse than the Xero to Xero invoicing we previously relied on.

We have looked at the new invoicing. The xero to xero function does not seem to be there. How does this work in the new version?

Why is Xero retiring Classic invoicing.?
Like Chantelle and many others, we use the Classic Invoicing version on Xero to send Invoices to our inter-companies and clients who are also registered with Xero. We could not operate without it. It is one of the keu features that encouraged our transition to Xero.
I had a trial of the New Invoicing, it is clunky, way way slower and lacks functionality and streamline capabilities of Classic Invoicing.
Einvoicing does not replace Xero to Xero invoicing.
It is not user friendly, which, in my opinion, we have all switched to Xero.I would suggest that until you Xero can incorporate Xero to Xero invoicing feature and clean up the whole look and placement of function tabs, you seriously consider deferring the retirement date of Classic Invoicing.
ALSO
We are now paying higher fees. Xero algorithms (AI) are severely lacking.
Is Xero addressing the problem. It is just getting worse and worse.Today, for example. I entered a bill from a regular supplier for Regrowth Control. Xero allocated the expense to Cattle purchases. This happens every single day on a way too regular basis.
And Just reiterating:
I would suggest that until you Xero can incorporate Xero to Xero invoicing feature and clean up the whole look and placement of function tabs, you seriously consider deferring the retirement date of Classic Invoicing.I welcome comment and feed back

It is ridiculous not to have and keep Xero to Xero invoicing. The sheer volume and time wasted typing in every individual line for accounting and tracking are not feasible. It is so much easier to have bills come prefilled. This is another dumb idea by Xero. The bigger Xero gets, the worse the program becomes.

If you have multiple Xero entities and do intracompany transactions, Xero-to-Xero is the easiest and safest way to be sure invoices and bills are recorded on both sides. All of the suggested alternatives are worse options.

Shae Mat commented
If you add their bill email to their card as an extra email it will send your invoices as a draft.

I agree, it is crazy not to include the Xero to Xero functionality in new invoicing!
If this function is not being included in new invoicing, please do not make the classic invoicing obsolete. This feature saves time and errors.
