    Thanks for your strong feedback on logging start and end times in NZ Payroll timesheets. We understand some of you are currently using workarounds or additional softwares to track start and end times.

    I'm pleased to let you know we're moving this idea to In discovery, which means the product team is now reviewing the viability of this feature. This is an important step as we explore what it would take to bring this functionality to NZ Payroll and how it could best serve your needs.

  2. Currently, Xero lists a super accrual for employees under the age of 18 when they earn over $450/mth. However, it doesn't take into account how many hours that employee works per week. Under 18s are not eligible to be paid super unless they work over 30 hours per week (even if they earn over $450/mth), but Xero doesn't recognise this. Unfortunately this shows up a s liability for the employer, even though a liability doesn't exist. I know that it can be worked around in the pay run, but it just means extra work for the payroll admin - particularly…

    Hey everyone! Thanks for your ongoing feedback on this. We appreciate you taking the time to highlight how important it is to get superannuation calculations exactly right, especially with the specific rules around employees under 18.

    Our product team has reviewed this idea and agrees this needs to be addressed. The current workaround of manually adjusting each pay run isn't the seamless experience we want to provide, especially for businesses with multiple under-18 employees.

    As a result, we're moving this idea to 'Accepted'. While we can't give a specific timeframe for a solution right now, this status means it's on our radar and something we'd like to develop in the future.

  3. The Payroll Journal dates are currently fixed to be the Pay Date, which is incorrect for any business that has hourly paid employees which must pay after end of month, when all hours are calculated.

    Every month all of our P&L figures are wrong because of this. Nobody wants to have to waste time doing loads of manual journals every month, which have the potential for mistakes, when Xero has created a system which is supposed to automate this process.

  4. It will be very useful for reporting if we are able to change the layout of Timesheet Details from a week ending to fortnightly while also able to choose the start date and end date without the dates with zero hours.

  5. Add the ability to add stops to mileage reimbursement. This way a person can add a round trip or add stops between the round trip to collect all mileage for the 1 trip.

    Thanks for the idea and adding your interest here, everyone. In lieu of a direct feature to accommodate this atm, you may find duplicating the claim to record each part of a trip useful in cutting down the data entry. We'll let you know if there's any change planned here. 

  6. Ability to send and generate online commencement forms from Xero Payroll.

    Purpose: Employees can complete and submit their own online commencement forms, rather than having to ask the employers to submit it.

  7. Approve employee leave requests directly from notification email.

    As a Leave Approver, I want to be approve or reject leave applications directly from the notification email so that I don't have to continually login.

    We can see it's been a while since we've provided you with an update about this idea. We've reviewed and it looks like it's an idea that's steadily Gaining Support.

  8. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE add an option to Payroll that allows employer expenses to be processed. The Union our company is a member of insists we pay as an employer expense into a redundancy program and also an income protection program for each employee. The Union demands that the payments are detailed on each employees payslip. We can only do this if we have an employer expense option. One of my clients in the United Kingdom uses the UK version of XERO and their version allows for this. Come on Australia, catch up!!!

  10. In the Payroll software, we can only allocate Direct wages to the cost of sales. Unfortunately, that doesn't include Employer NI nor Employer Pension cost in the cost of sales.
    Such coding would be useful, as we now use Birghtpay to do such coding.
    Without this feature, the gross profit margin and overheads are incorrect.

  11. The feature request is to allow the defining of current liability accounts for pay items with pay types set to Deductions, Payroll Taxes, and Post-tax Deductions. This will enable the tracking of payroll source deductions and taxes necessary for remittance reports to the tax authority (such as EI, CPP and income taxes for T4 and T4 summary completion in Canada).

    There are two ways I believe Xero developers could achieve this goal.

    Thanks for sharing and engaging with Product ideas. While we understand wanting to see improvements to Global Pay Run, however as you may have recently read -

    We’re making some changes to help you manage your payroll more effectively;

    - From 23 July 2025 Global Pay Run will become read-only. You'll still be able to see all your past payroll information, however you will not be able to process any new pay runs after this date. 

    - Global Pay run will be retired after April 2026, at which point you'll no longer be able to access pay run. 

    With this update we want to be upfront here that we don't have any intentions of further developing Global Pay Run, and will close this idea.

  12. Before we had start/stop times, employees were able to add different pay rates (ie Saturday Penalty Rate). It would be excellent if this option could be included with the start/stop time version in Xero Me.

    Hi everyone, thanks for getting behind this idea and sharing the need for employees to add multiple earnings rates to Start and End timesheets.

    Your examples demonstrate how different earnings rates in a single timesheet would save time and improve payroll accuracy for industries with varied awards.

    We understand many of you are currently editing timesheets after employees submit them, which adds extra steps.

    The good news is that idea is now in discovery. Our product team is currently reviewing the viability of this idea and exploring what a solution could look like.

  13. Xero Me - Needs spot in App to input the Earnings Rate and Tracking Category for the employee. Needs a start/stop button for clocking in/out so that when the employee starts the day they simply press start and the app records the time started. When they press stop it records the stop time until the start time is pressed again. This can be used for breaks and for start and finish of the day - these can be edited if someone forgets.     Hi everyone, thank you for your detailed feedback on a clock in/out functionality in Xero Me. We see how being able to clock in and out directly from Xero Me would improve accuracy for job tracking, while enabling employees to easily log start/finish times and capture breaks at the touch of a button.

    As part of a wider project to improve timesheets in Xero, we’ve updated the status of this idea to Accepted.

    While this status means the product team would like to develop this, it’s not currently on our roadmap and we don’t have a delivery timeframe. We will continue to consider your feedback as we plan future updates. Thanks for your patience and ongoing engagement.

  14. We need to know how much to provide for on the balance sheet for annual leave and long service leave each month and track these for our financial statements. All the information is available via Xero payroll (leave balances and pay rates for each employee as well as leave accrued and leave taken) but in order to account for this correctly we are expected to export reports and do the calculations ourselves. And we need to maintain external files to reconcile this to each month.

    Hi everyone, thanks for your feedback on automating leave provisions. Currently Xero does not automatically include leave liabilities on the Balance Sheet. Some of you have mentioned workarounds such as reviewing the Leave Balances Report and creating Manual Journals to include the liability in your reporting.

    While we’re dedicated to streamlining payroll calculations, our product team confirmed this specific idea isn't on our foreseeable roadmap. We’ll be updating the status to Not in pipeline. The idea will remain open for votes so we can continue to monitor community interest.

    Hi everyone, thanks for sharing how important streamlining P45 distribution is for your payroll workflow.

    It’s not currently possible to send P45’s directly from Xero. Our product team is actively exploring ways to enhance employee self-service features. While specific plans for this feature are not yet finalised for the immediate roadmap, this area remains a key focus for future development. We've moved this idea to Accepted.

    We'll keep you posted if anything changes. In the meantime, you can download P45s from Xero and send them via your usual email software.

    Hey everyone, we thank you for the detailed feedback on improving how leave requests work for part-time employees in Australian payroll. 

    We understand the value of shifting the task of adjusting hours to employees, freeing up payroll administrators’ time for other priorities and we also appreciate the points raised around accuracy and compliance.

    While we don’t have current plans to deliver exactly what’s been suggested here, our product team is continuing to focus on developing working patterns within AU Payroll. Based on what we’ve seen in other regions, this'll likely address many of the needs discussed here.

    We’ll move this idea to Not in pipeline for now, but we’ll keep you posted on any updates that could help achieve what’s being asked.

  19. I look after a business that has been advised by the ATO that their PAYG has cycle has changed & they must remit the PAYG tax to ATO within 7 days of each payrun. This means we currently have to make a manual payment for PAYG to the ATO each week, more if there there happens to be an extra pay run for some reason. Payroll software we use for other clients in the same sitiatuon has the functionality to include the PAYG payment with the ABA file for the payrun, which means everyting is automated.
