Hi everyone, we appreciate how quickly this idea has picked up traction from the community here.

As you've likely heard through other communications we're in the midst of rolling out a unified Client experience as part of our wider Xero Partner Hub.

    With the new Client experience you can now;

    • Create a client without a TFN, as the Create Client flow has been updated to capture only the basic details
    • The TFN can be added later by clicking Edit once the client is created.
    • If you do try add a TFN that already exists on an archived client, an error message is displayed - you can get a view of what this looks like in my attachment

Thanks again for sharing with us here and I'll be back to confirm when this new experience is live to all practices.

  2. Please allow tasks set up under Business - Settings - Tasks to be made inactive by master administrators so that they no longer show up in the list of available tasks to be added to jobs for team members.

We've had a number of tasks that we set up to track/monitor key items like jobkeeper or specific reporting periods that are no longer required/relevant.

While they have been removed from tasks within job templates, if a team member wants to add a task to a job/job template they need to scroll past many many tasks that no-one is using anymore…

Thanks for sharing this idea. We understand you'd like the ability to archive unused tasks in Xero Practice Manager so they no longer appear when adding tasks to jobs or job templates, while still preserving historical records.

We've moved this idea to Gaining Support so we can better understand how many customers would find this helpful. If this would improve your workflow, please add your vote and share more detail in the comments about how you'd use it and the impact it has on your practice.

We review the ideas with the most support as we plan future improvements, and we’ll keep this idea updated here as it progresses 🙂

  3. It would be great to bring back the collapsible custom fields in XPM when editing client details. This previously made it much easier to jump between headings. With the new tabbed layout, all custom fields now appear in one long list with no distinction between headings, which means a lot more scrolling to find the fields we need to update.

Hi Hannah, thanks for sharing your thoughts on the business structure view in Xero Practice Hub. It’s helpful to understand how important it is to see clearer client details at a glance when you’re managing groups of clients.

Your suggestion around having a more detailed business structure breakdown makes sense, especially as broader categories like Other can cover a mix of different client situations.

We’ve now moved this idea to Gaining Support, which means it’s open for the community to vote and add comments. This helps us understand what’s most valuable to you, and we’ll keep you posted as things progress. If others would find this useful too, feel free to share your thoughts.

  4. We have a number of Trust who now have "Special Trust Advisors" appointed by Deeds. I would like to be able to add in Special Trust Advisors as a relationship in trusts.

It would be really useful to be able to customise the relationship options in all business categories

Hi everyone, thanks for sharing this idea. We understand you’re looking for more flexibility in how relationships between contacts can be recorded within Xero Practice Manager.

The suggestion is to add more relationship options, such as identifying roles like beneficiaries or corporate trustees, so practices can better capture specific client structures.

We’ve moved this to Gaining Support so we can track interest and help our product teams understand the value of expanding relationship options.

  5. Could we get a PAYG Instalment worksheet please, with an option to tick if a client is a new entrant to the PAYG instalment system and a field where we can enter the expected lodgement date of the tax return. These fields can then drive the PAYG instalment estimate for the current financial year.
Currently Xero just estimates the instalments for the four quarters which isn't always correct. For example if we lodge a return in November and the client is entering the PAYG instalment system for the first time, there's no way to zero out the September quarter without…

  6. Since the recent updates in Nov/Dec 2025, when adding staff access to Blue Xero clients in Xero HQ, the staff list now shows ALL staff members, including those who are inactive or no longer working. Previously, only active staff were displayed.

Having inactive and former staff appear in this list creates unnecessary clean-up work, as these users must be manually removed. Restricting the list to 'active staff only' would improve usability and reduce the risk of incorrect access being assigned.

  7. It'd be helpful in some cases to provide a Staff member temporary access to a Client.
There can be situations where a staff may only need access for a day or month and being able to set a timeframe for this and then access be removed would be helpful.

Hi team, this idea has been created off the back of this idea to get a good understanding of the interest in specifically providing temporary Client access to a staff member.

While this isn't somethign we have planned atm, our product team would like to get insight to consider in future planning. Thanks!

  8. We would like to have an option for a Tax Return that has been deleted off the system to effectively sit in a recycle bin before it is immediately deleted off. Would also like to suggest having the ability to see a report for any such returns that are deleted off to see who has done it and the date.

Hi everyone, thank you for sharing this here. We've moved this idea to gain more support from the community as we can see there's quite a few votes. We want to get an understanding of other users that might want to see this feature implemented as well. In the meantime, please feel free to share this with your friends and colleagues so they can add their votes and comments too.

  9. Please can we have a column for a “Comment” so that we can easily see when we go to file a tax return, if there is a comment there or not.

MYOB has a symbol which is empty if there is no comment and coloured in if there is, and it’s really helpful. It is also possible to add multiple notes (which you would see after clicking on the symbol).

This means you can read the comment(s) before attempting to file the return – which could be important if it has to be held temporarily for some reason.

    It would…

Appreciate you sharing why seeing notes from the Returns screen would be helpful when reviewing returns before filing, Kathryn.

We'll start to get a sense of the wider interest in this here and I'll share if there's any progress.

  10. Since the recent XPM update in Nov/Dec 2025, the balance date for new clients is now auto-populating as January. For the majority of New Zealand clients, the balance date is March, so defaulting to January is not practical.

If the balance date is going to be auto-populated, it should default to March rather than January to better reflect common NZ reporting periods.

Your suggestion is now live on the community board. To give it the best chance of moving forward, be sure to spread the word to your colleagues so they can vote for it too.

  11. Enable viewing of 2 accounts simultaneously.
For example, supplier and customer to cross check invoices issued.
Why needed: We cross check our clients with our business invoices to ensure they are included in the the correct VAT period.
Even if we can only access our own account with one client at at time it would be a great help and save logging in and out of accounts and having to make notes to carry out tasks.

  13. Following the recent XPM updates in Nov/Dec 2025, the client screen does not display correctly when viewed on a mobile device. The page layout appears distorted and is difficult to read, making it hard to use in a mobile web browser.

Older XPM pages that have not been updated yet still display normally on mobile, so it would be helpful to improve the layout and usability of the updated client screen to ensure it is mobile-friendly for web access.

Appreciate your feedback on this and good to understand the different ways our partners are often viewing this information, Natascha.

Your feedback here has been shared back with our product team and I'll be sure to loop you in if there are any improvements planned for how the page responds when viewing from a mobile browser.

  14. Currently, when mapping the chart of accounts from your financial statements in Xero Blue to the tax return labels in XPM, you can only map to labels in the business schedule section of the return.

This means that accounts relating to other tax labels, such as rental property schedules, or other deductions, must be noted as "do not import", and then entered manually.

It would be great if there was the ability to map these accounts, in addition to those relating to the business schedule, as it would lead to further efficiency gains for accountants using Xero's suite of products.

Hi community, thanks for engaging with this idea! It’s already gaining strong traction, and we can see how important this is to many of you.

We understand the value of being able to map general ledger accounts directly to all tax return schedules in Xero Tax, not just the business schedule. This improvement would go a long way in streamlining tax workflows, increasing efficiency, and reducing the risk of manual entry errors.

The idea is now in the Gaining Support stage. Your continued votes and comments help highlight its importance and guide our product team's priorities.

  15. Users have control over which columns are visible and the order in which they appear. This is managed through drag-and-drop functionality or by checking/unchecking column options.

Hi everyone, we have started this idea off the back of the original post here so we can get an understanding of support for being able to show or hide columns on a user basis within AU Tax.

Being upfront, we don't have any plans for this at present but would like to get an idea of the interest through this idea.

  16. One thing that's particularly frustrating to me about the new UI is the non-collapsible view for relationships. We have clients that are part of big groups with lots of relationships, and it now looks very cluttered, and quite annoying when we have to scroll down.

Please restore the drop-down view (and change back to the smaller font too) 🙏

Hi community, we've started this request to gauge specific interest in enabling staff to request access to a Client within the unified experience.

Stemming from this original idea, this isn't something we have direct plans of at this time, but our product teams are staying close to the ground on what our practices would like to see developed and will consider this in future planning. 🙏

Thanks so much for raising this and explaining how you’re using the ATO prefill data. We’ve logged your feedback and will move it into our Gaining Support process so the product team can consider it alongside other work. At this stage there are no planned changes to how Xero imports Medicare and ATO prefill data, but your input is really valuable in helping us understand where improvements would add the most value..

  19. To have a "history" tab on a client that would show when someone has made a change to something (an address, a phone number/client details) along with who would have archived a client on the system.

The history tab would be a great aspect for support hub team members so they can ask that person if there is an issue or to see a date and time that this has happened to then liase with the client.

  20. View salutation or an alternate name field
As many clients are addressed by a different name other than their legal/birth name, it would be helpful to be able to view their salutation, or an alternate name, in the contact section of the client, without having to go into the contact to see this information.
