  1. In the old reports, once the account was added to a subgroup, the account code would automatically be in alphabetical order. However, this is manual for the new reporting.

    A good function would be to automate this in the new reports as well (per the old reports) rather than dragging and dropping manually.

    Hi community, thanks for your support and engagement on this idea. We acknowledge your desire for enhancements in how you can Budget and forecast reporting within Xero, and being able to mirror custom Profit & Loss report layouts you've created.  

    While we understand the needs expressed by you here, we want to be open that we don't have immediate plans for developing this tool.

    We're continuing to look ahead and assess the base needs of our customers when it comes to budgeting and working in Xero and will keep you updated of any upcoming developments that could support in your needs here. Thanks for your continued feedback and support through Xero Product ideas. 

  4. We often need to generate Project reports for the time period 'Project to Date'.

    This isn't an option in the Project Summary report. Can this be built-in as a further standard option?

  5. The new W-9 Request feature is nice. However, it would be even better if there was a way to send the request using the Organization's email address rather than the Bookkeeper's or Accountant's email address. Contractor's might disregard the email request if they don't know who the Bookkeeper or Accountant is and don't recognize the sender's email address.

    Hi Lara, while not a complete solution for what you're after as you still need to send from an external email provider - I wanted to share a recent update we've made so you can now link directly to your email client from the W-9 in both Contacts and 1099. We've also provided an email template which you can easily edit to adjust any details you'd prefer such as adding the organisation title. See more on this in our help.

  6. It's unfathomable to me that it is not possible to do something as simple as output sales by state or by province or by country or by city. These are discreet fields in Xero and we ought to be able to filter a sales or P&L report to just include sales for some regions or to summarize by state or country. Right now all I can do is export all transactions and run everything through excel, which is not the way this should work. Thanks.

    Hi team, while not a fully fledged report you may find Smart Lists within a contact useful at present. 

    From Contacts you can set up and get a list of customers that meet certain rules that you've set up - such as 'Location' is and setting this to one or more locations your customers are based. 

  7. I would like to see on the front sheet of the VAT report a Summary break-down by VAT code showing Total, Net and VAT by each VAT category.
    Is this something you are currently working on and if so when would it be available to us.

  8. Hi all,

    I want to run an accounting transactions report... if I filter the contact, it comes up with the whole list (I have loads archived!). Would it be possible to be able to filter out the archived contacts or at the very least, be able to type in the one I want?
    My predecessor saved all PayPal transactions by their individual addresses so have had to archive them all to make my actual contacts list manageable!

  9. Contact Cash Activity Report that shows all contacts and can show both individual transactions or a summary (total).

  10. My Bank rules were deleted by someone. Xero doesn't have a restore function or the ability to see who deleted these.
    We need this for compliance purposes and the safety of our data purposes.

  11. Would like a report showing a list of bank account number changes. This would show original bank account number, new bank account number, contact's name, date the bank account number was amended and who amended the bank account number and to be able to print this as a pdf. This would be of great benefit because of fraud and also our Auditor has asked if we can produce a list of bank account number changes for a selected period.

    Hi everyone, while we don't have a direct report for this, some changes we've made to History & Notes in Xero will help in achieving what you're in need of here. 

    You can run the History & Notes, filtering by Type = Contact and typing 'Bank account number' in the Search to just view results for this action. 

    If needed you'll be able to export your results to PDF or Excel. 

    Though the contact name doesn't show on screen, you can right click on the Contact in the report to open the contact's record in a new browser tab, that allows you to inspect details without navigating away from your History & Notes results. 

  12. New Account transaction report - remove the totals when generating the report for a single account.
    The new report adds a report total at the end of the selected accounts which is a total of the debit or credit transactions for 'all' accounts selected.
    When only one account is selected it still shows a total - this is in addition to the total for the transactions on the account itself so it shows total of transactions, closing balance and then total of transactions of all accounts selected. It would improve the usability of this report to have the 'overall total…

    Sorry team, we'll need to take a step back from our previous update here. Though this is a feature our teams would like to pick up in the future, we're unable to focus resource on this atm. As soon as we can pick things up, I'll be back to share again.

  13. I find it unacceptable that Xero cannot give a report with the exact debits and credits on the supplier / customer account without showing how the allocation was done. If there are 2 invoices of a 1000 and 1 payment was made of 2000 - I want to see it exactly like that on the report and not 1000 allocated to the first invoice and 1000 allocated to the second invoice. This is standard in Pastel.

  14. A default "Profit & Loss Detail" report is a standard option in pretty much every other bookkeeping system I've worked in and necessary for many companies.

    An additional option of running a standard P&L Report, but also being able to expand account sections to see the detail without opening a new report would be very useful for researching issues. It is tedious to continually run the report I need, only to click on one line item and then have to go back and run the original report again to continue researching.

  15. VAT - late claims. As i use tracking categories - everything runs back through the late claims part of the VAT report but, this means there a mass of data to check through for the actual late claims that i do want in there. Very time consuming to check through all this. It would be great if you could separate out - say that the things come through from the bills from the tracking categories.

  16. Xero doesn't currently have the option for reporting PAYG Income Tax Instalment on a monthly basis. Could Xero look into providing this option in the monthly BAS Activity Statement reporting.

    Appreciate your input here, everyone. Our team has looked into this idea to better understand the needs and complexities involved, however they don't have any concrete plans for it just yet.

    Rest assured that our eyes are on the ground monitoring your feedback and votes here, so please keep adding them in this thread. For the time being, I’ll move this idea into ‘Under review’ status. And if there's any movement, we'll make sure to come back here and let you all know.

  17. Where funds span multiple financial years it would be good to be able to add a brought forward fund balance (balance sheet item) the the P&L fund report (income & expenditure for charities where tracking categories are used for the funds) so that the charity has full visibility of the fund available - last FY brought forward + net amount for this FY = total fund till available

  18. The previous Profit & Loss report allowed you to filter by multiple categories. There was an add t report function which allowed users to drill down into secondary categories and export ALL of the data into one report which showed 1. A P&L Summary, 2. Detailed expenditure for the chosen secondary category. The "Add to report" function allowed the user to export the entire category details as a whole.

    For our business this is critical. We are a bespoke project based company and use this filter constantly & No the project feature does not work for our business....I have tried!

  19. Project reports are very difficult to follow and understand. The ability to click a transaction and open the source is not possible unlike all standard Xero reports. A Profit and Loss by project is crucial. Project transactions need to be combined into the audit trail so that standard reports can be ran to include project information.

    Really appreciate those who’ve taken the time to share how this’d help in your day-to-day. We know being able to filter a Profit & Loss report by project would make it easier to understand how your jobs are performing.

    Right now, the best workaround is to export your data and make adjustments for this in Excel, but we get that it adds extra steps.

    There’s also the Profitability dashboard feature in Xero Projects, which gives a quick view of how each job is tracking, and may be helpful.

    We’ll keep an active eye on the interest this idea continues to build through votes, but do want to be transparent that this is not in our roadmap for the foreseeable future. Thanks again for your input through Xero product ideas.

  20. Report Building - Ability to choose any report from Xero Blue to add to the reports. Especially payroll reports.

    Ideally, I would like to be able to build a set of management reports that include things such as accrued annual leave and long service leave. Annual days to pay on AR, average days to pay per client and other KPI type measurements. Is there away to build out own templates that can go into payroll and other areas of Xero to create these
