  2. It would be good if payroll reports could be customised, i.e. after making a change to an existing report, such as Gross To Net report, the new template could be saved as a Custom Report.

    At the moment, it isn't possible to save the updated format, so I have to make the same changes to the standard report every month.

    Hi everyone, we appreciate your patience & would like to thank everyone who’s shared their thoughts and supported this idea.

    Xero's payroll reports do currently offer some options to adjust columns, filters & layout. However we hear & understand the need for having additional information & more flexibility with payroll reporting, including the ability to customise & save reports for future use.

    Being open here, these improvements are not in our current pipeline. However we'll use this feedback to shape how we plan future improvements in Xero Payroll reports.

  3. Be able to run depreciation from 6th to 5th of a month for businesses that have a financial year end of 5 April.
    Whilst you can do this for a 1st year of trading, we have found that you are unable to run it for any year after and after checking with xero, you are unable to run depreciation if the fixed asset start date is not the 1st of the month.

  4. Reporting - to run a report that can show payment information (eg. paid date) and reference/item information.

    A report under cash basis does not show the reference that I put on the invoice reference or the item information chosen in the invoice, it is really hard to search receivable payment based on the information I need (PFA).
    A xero support specialist explained that because there is no reference on the payment, I can only search by Contact name or invoice number. But, when we do reconciliations to match the bank received with the invoice, there is nowhere to add an…

    Hi team, to export a list of all Tracking categories in your org, you may find the Tracking Summary report of use to you here. Alternatively, you could run the Account Transactions report and Summarise by the Tracking category. 

    The one caveat here for both reports is that they'll only show a list of the tracking options that have been used within the date range the report is run. 

  6. It would be really useful to have a report the same as the "Billable Expense Report - Outstanding" that shows the same info but for paid invoices, preferably with the ability to filter by invoice number or bill number

    Thank you for sharing your feedback and voting on the idea here, community. While we've reviewed this idea and appreciate the needs in what you're wanting here, we want to be open that we don't have any plans for developing a billable expenses report of this nature in the near term.

    We will continue to track the interest here, and share if anything changes.

  7. Occasionally when doing data entry in Fixed Assets we have typed a depreciation rate of more than 100%. It would be good if there was an error message preventing this.

  8. The profit and loss report has an option to put in the budgeted figures when you edit the layout. Can this option also be introduced to the Cash summary report please. Some of my fruit farmers love to see that figures as well compared to the actual figures.

  9. Most companies have different treatment of accounting depreciation and tax allowances on the same assets. Having these setup and maintained in Xero would be a game changer.

    Also: make FAR export dates sync up with regional settings - it's enormously frustrating having a FAR download in MM/DD/YYYY when one works in example DD/MM/YYYY

  10. Enable AIM tax method for NZ
    This is needed for small businesses in NZ to do their own AIM lodgement automatically via Xero without using an accountant. In the GST return, there are three options currently; Standard, Estimate, and Ratio but not AIM. The whole purpose of AIM is to smooth cashflow and make it simpler for small businesses to file one return for both GST and Income Tax at the same time, but it appears this option is not available to us! Please vote for this to be included ASAP as an option.

  11. Although you can save a custom Account Transactions report as the new default report, Xero still displays the original default Account Transactions columns if you drill down to account activity from Balance Sheet or Income Statement.
    This currently requires re-adjusting the column settings every time.

    Thanks for signalling your interest and sharing with us through this idea, team.

    We understand why you'd like a setting for defaults when you drill down through the Account Transactions report. This is something our reporting product team have taken a closer look at, however the solution isn't a simple change and we want to be upfront that at this stage we don't have any plans for. We will share if there are any updates here.

  12. Projects - Would be terrific if we could produce a report based on employee projects, for example to be able to see what staff currently have on, the $$ they have quoted for a period of time etc.

  13. Can you please add balances to the edit layout function so we can see what we are mapping or where things have automapped? I often need to open the financials in a separate tab while editing the layout because I can't see the balances and it would be nice if I didn't have to do that.

  14. Ability to change the file name when exporting reports

    When exporting reports, it defaults to Company name_Report Name.pdf. We have a format of naming files in our business which does not match the default format. It would be simpler to be able to change the default file exporting system so that it more closely fits our standards, saving time. This could be added into the company settings. Options include: Report should say: Text [placeholder] Text [placeholder], and "include or exclude underscore".
    Options for placeholders include date printed, company name, report name, etc.

  16. SureIy this would be a no brainer??

    I'd like an option to download PDFs with a password automatically added.

    The password could be added in the company setting pages with the option to download "Protected PDF" when you print a report.

    This feature seems so simple to create and i'm not sure why it hasn't been thought of.

    This would also save us having to do this manually with every report sent to a client.

    Please set this up at it would be a great option for bookkeepers and accountants.

  17. In the account transaction report I would like to use the source filter to pick up Payroll & Super transactions only, however there seems to be no option, it would be great if there was one

  18. People here in PH are starting to use Xero and I think many more will use it too if you create reports that are required by our Tax Authority such as:

    Sales Journal
    Purchase Journal
    Cash Receipts Journal
    Cash Disbursements Journal

    Most of our clients are asking for this. I really hope you will be able to implement this.

    Hi everyone, just wanting to highlight that as Caroline has suggested, it is likely the Account Transactions reports in Xero could be used to create the reports required. However, this depends on what information you require each report to contain.

    If anyone is able to reply with more specific details on whether any information is unable to be obtained via the account transaction report this will help our product team better understand what's needed.

  19. Placeholders are really useful in repeating manual journal entry - could we please have them in regular manual journals?

    Oftentimes it will be necessary to repeat a series of manual entries when realising income in advance as revenue however the amounts will vary so a manual journal is required for each instance.

    Being able to have [Month] etc in the narration would make it much faster to populate each entry. [Example: "Revenue realised in [Month]"

  20. Sometimes an entity will de-register for GST because they are no longer required to file, then circumstances change and they re-register. Currently in Xero when you re-register Xero creates all the prior period GST returns for when the client was deregistered. You then have to manually delete all the prior draft returns.

    Would be great if you could have an option to choose the new start date for GST.
