  1. When setting up Xero for a registered Subcontractor it would be really useful if Xero automatically created a revenue code for CIS Materials Income, like it does for CIS Labour Income.
When setting up a registered Contractor, Xero automatically creates CIS Labour expense and CIS Materials Purchased. But for Subcontractors to invoice CIS Materials Income they have to create their own code. But this is not mentioned in the support articles.
If Xero cannot add this code to the Subcontractor CIS set up, then can they at least add guidance in their support articles please.

Hi Ian, thanks for bringing our attention to this. We can see how having account codes displayed in their own column, rather than combined with the account name, could make reporting easier to read and work with.

At the moment, account codes and names are shown together when the option is enabled in reports, and can be split manually after export if needed for further analysis.

I've updated the status of this idea to Gaining Support so we can continue tracking interest from the community. If there are particular reports or workflows where separate columns would be most useful, we'd love to hear more about them.

  5. The investment boost should not be included if the purchase date of the asset is before 22 May 2025. I have tested this and if you choose the option for investment boost, Xero still applies investment boost to the asset despite the purchase date of the asset being before the entitlement date. This seems a lot easier to fix than a lot of improvements made to Xero.

Thanks for sharing this idea with the community, Nicola.

We understand the request for Xero to prevent the Investment Boost option from being selected for assets purchased before 22 May 2025. Adding a date-based restriction could help reduce the risk of applying the deduction to ineligible assets.

In the meantime, you can review the Investment Boost selection for assets in Accounting > Fixed assets and update any incorrect settings manually.

We've updated this idea to Gaining Support so we can continue tracking interest from the community. If this would improve your workflow, add your vote and share how you'd use it.

  6. Currently, It prints TITLE, COMPANY, DATE/ PERIOD. Please can you add to DATE/ PERIOD 'as @ TIME OF PUBLISH'. This would solve issues where I am looking at two identical spreadsheets but am unable to tell which is up to date.

Thanks for sharing this suggestion — we can see how adding “as at time of publish” to the DATE / PERIOD would make it much easier to tell which published spreadsheet is the most up to date when reports look otherwise identical.

We’re moving this idea to Gaining Support so we can keep tracking interest and feedback from our community. While we can’t make any promises about if or when this might be added, the support and examples shared here help our product team better understand the impact and usefulness of this change 💥

If there are any updates to share, we’ll post them here.

  7. For Company Accounts - the directors feed from Companies House and include the resignation date in the Company Information section of the accounts. However, the final report doesn't include the resignation date against the director. Whilst, there is obviously a work around to include the date as if it's part of the directors name, it relies on manual intervention and given the information is already there, it seems odd that it isn't automatic.

Thanks for taking the time to share this idea — we can see why this would be helpful.

We've now moved this idea to Gaining Support 🌟. This means we've recognised it as a valid feature request and we're now gathering feedback from customers to help us understand the level of demand and the impact it’s having.

We agree it would make sense for the resignation date to flow through automatically into the final report when that information is already available in the Company Information section.

At the moment, this isn’t done automatically, so the current workaround is to manually include the resignation date in the director details where needed for presentation in the final accounts.

If this is something you'd like to see improved, please add your vote and any extra detail about how it affects your workflow. That helps our product team better understand the demand and the use case.

  8. At the moment, if you reverse a journal with the same date as the original journal, it actually deletes both the original journal and the reversed journal from your manual journal listing in Xero. (You are only likely to do this in error, and it would not be immediately obvious to you as to what you have done). Both journals immediately become invisible and both are thus then uneditable. This should not be the case, there should be an ability to correct your mistakes. The only way to discover your mistake is by the 'Journal report' where you can see…

Hi Neil, thanks for sharing your idea here. We appreciate the need for having a clear view of the reversed journals. We'll move this idea to gain more support from the community so they can share their thoughts and vote on this as well. We will monitor this space for more traction in the meantime.

  9. Can you raise an enhancement request for the P&L report to give 2 options- Includes GST and Excludes GST to give an option to the user(similar to the current option of Cash or Accrual)?
If a user selects "Includes GST ", a new line item gets added showing the GST account, else default option is "Excludes GST " meaning no change to the current report.

  10. For the purposes of calculating UK reverse charge, it would be useful if foreign suppliers could be 'flagged', allowing a report to be run that would show all payments to foreign suppliers within the quarter. Using currency to search for foreign suppliers is not sufficient, as sometimes the payment is via credit card, and sometimes the payment is in sterling (such as to Guernsey).

Thanks for sharing this idea 💡 We’re moving it to Gaining support so we can gauge community interest and understand how broadly this capability would benefit Xero customers, particularly those who need to identify payments to overseas suppliers for UK reverse-charge reporting. Please continue to vote and share any additional examples or use cases in the comments. Your feedback will help us better understand the need and level of support for this request.

  11. It would be nice to be able to attach customers to groups within the contact details screen. Due to the way Xero works, every single customer has to be attached to at least two different groups for reporting purposes. I have one group called Customers so that I get every customer an no other entities in reports. The next I have to attach the customer to a state since there is no availability to create reports of sales by state.

Thanks for bringing this idea to the community. We can understand why being able to add a contact to a group directly from an individual contact record could make managing contacts more efficient, particularly when you're already updating their details.

At the moment, contact groups can only be managed from the Contacts list. From there, you can select one or more contacts and use Add to group to assign them to an existing contact group in bulk.

We've updated the status of this idea to Gaining Support so we can continue tracking community's interest.

  12. On the Fixed Asset Register can there be a column for showing Tracking Catergories?

We deal with clients in the Hospitality Industry and a portion of them operate multiple sites.

It would be handy to have an option in the Fixed Asset Register so we can quickly identify which assets belong to Pub A, Pub B, Pub C etc.

The inclusion of a filter to only show the Fixed Assets of a particular site would also be a huge benefit.

We know that the Register can be exported to Excel which will show the Tracking Catergories but something within Xero…

  13. Please create a customer list report with options to list the fields in the contact details. The export sucks because one cannot filter it or choose the fields to export.

Hi Suzette, are there any specific contact details that you would be looking to get in a report? If you can share a little more on your use case this will help when sharing back with our product teams. Thanks!

  14. Archiving repeating journals
We have had a number of repeating journals over the years. We have gotten to the point where when we want to update these journals, we have to trawl through these. It would be nice to archive the ones we don't need any more so we can just see the ones we need.

Hi team, appreciate raising this idea with us. As noted by others right now it is possible to delete a repeating journal.

If you need to repeat the journal again in the future you could turn one of the previously posted journals into a Repeat journal to start this up again.

We don't have any plans for adding an archive option in the short term but will continue to watch the interest for this here.

  15. Every accountant goes straight to the Trial Balance but on every new company you have to set it as a favourite. It would be far better if it was an automatic default available under reporting tab like Profit and Loss, and Balance Sheet.

  16. Our clients often have several utility accounts by location, and these suppliers request that the specific account number appear on the check. It is painstaking to manually enter these in the memo field, so it would be great if "supplier account number" was an added field on checks.

  17. The new journal entry interface is a step backwards in usability. In the previous version, I could view multiple journal lines at once because the layout was more compact and allowed the entire journal to be displayed on one page. This made it much easier to review, understand, and track entries.

With the new interface, there is much less visibility, and I find myself constantly scrolling to see related lines. This makes it harder to follow complex journals, increases the risk of errors, and slows down the review process. Similar to the GST report update, the changes appear to prioritise…

  18. Unincorporated societies in the UK are required to submit a CT600 tax return, however this feature in Xero is currently restricted to Limited Companies and I was advised to go via an Accountant or Xero's advisory service to do this.

Unincorporated societies are by their nature non-profit and only have low income and turnover, so expensive advisory services are not an option.

Since it is already possible for a Limited Company to make a tax return it should be a simple change to allow Unincorporated Societies to use the same filing feature to make a CT600 submission.

  19. Can the transition period for change in financial year date be added to companies that are non UK organisations as well. we have a group of companies that all extended their financial year but i have only been able to use the transition period in UK organisations. Why is this not an option in non UK organisations?

Hi Claire, thanks for raising this. We appreciate you sharing the want of having the transition period feature across all the regions while it is only currently available for UK organisations. Your idea is now in Gaining support status, meaning our community team have reviewed it and it's open for community support through votes and comments. We encourage others who would benefit from this to add their votes and share their use cases to help us understand the broader need.

  20. New Zealand Inland Revenue Department requires reciepts to be signed by an authorised person. . This does not appear to be possible possible with Xero at present by inserting an electronic or jpeg signature. With a significant number of receipts our charity issues this can only be done manually and a scanned copy sent.
