Hi community, as mentioned in my last post we want to keep you looped in on changes around autosave.
Our product team has continued to focus attention on how we can make invoicing faster and more responsive to improve our customers' experience.
We've recently optimised autosave to require less processing power, leading to faster invoice loading and saving.
Our decision remains that we won’t be adding an option to turn off autosave on invoices. However, we hope this change improves your experience with autosave in draft invoices over time. Thanks again for your feedback.

Autosave is incredibly frustrating. No user-choice... no option to make optional or turn off altogether; no undo, or way to revert to an earlier version; no straightforward workarounds.
Genuine question: Are there any other organisations who don't give their users a choice of whether they save a document or not?

Hi team, while we don't have immediate plans to change the placement of buttons on new invoicing we're interested in staying close to this feedback and I'll move the idea to Under review for the time being. We'll return to confirm any outcomes.

Appreciate your feedback on how you use invoicing and the benefit you find in being able to approve and view the next invoice in sequential invoice number order. As we continue to plan further developments within this space, our product teams would like to engage you all here to get a better sense of our invoicing users for future improvements. We’d find your feedback invaluable and if you’d be interested in sharing with us, please fill in our survey here.

For me, most of the other differences from the classic invoicing have been pretty average.
This sort order issue is pretty close to the last straw.
With the classic invoicing, the order I sort my draft invoices by, carries through to the editing. If I sort by "To" (i. e. in alphabetic order), after editing and clicking on 'Approve and next', it picks up the next invoice in the same order.
ALL of the data to enter into my invoices is supplied alphabetically by client surname.
The new invoicing has completely removed this functionality. I now have to wait to see which invoice appears then sort through hundreds of pages to find the right schedule... literally adding hours to the process.

Hi everyone, appreciate your continued feedback on new invoicing. As mentioned in my last update we've now added a new Xero Central page for new invoicing.
Along with updates to individual ideas on Xero Product Ideas, this page will become the single source of truth for key feature rollouts including:
- what’s available in new invoicing right now,
- timelines for features and enhancements going live in new invoicing, as well as
- a comparison table between the classic and newer versions of invoicing.
We'll be updating this page regularly.
Relating to some of the more recent feedback there are some existing ideas that may also be of particular interest that you can join, like the ability to see the email the invoice was sent to in the history, or being able to see a timestamp, and reducing clicks and steps.

I've been trying to use the new invoicing - major issue for me is that my tasks schedules for my invoicing are created alphabetically by client last name, and under the new invoicing I can't get the draft invoices to edit in the same order.
My clients are saved as 'Last Name, First Name'. Repeating invoices generate monthly invoices for each.
The old invoicing appears to be set so that the sort order of the draft invoices, carries through to the editing of them - if I sort draft invoices by the "To" column (=client last name/first name), when I edit the first invoice and go to 'Approve and view next', the next draft invoice is the next client alphabetically; similarly sorting by invoice number, the next invoice number sequentially is what comes up.
The new invoicing seems to pull invoices at random from my draft list, regardless of the sort order.
Previously I had a nice, alphabetically ordered stack of schedules from which to enter my invoicing data. Now I'm shuffling the stack with every invoice, to find the one I want - massive increase in time and mess (and stress).
Edit - Plus, after entering a large number of lines on the invoice, I now have to scroll to the top of the screen to select the Approve button, where previously the button was there at the bottom (right below the bottom line...)

Hi team, while this may be something we look to do in the future unfortunately we were not able to move along with the work the team had started exploring here.
We'll move to Accepted for now and if there are any updates I'll be back to share with you all. Thanks and continue to support this idea if it's something you'd like to see.

Thanks for the feedback and great to hear the use you find in repeat templates in Xero.
While there's no way to bulk update templates atm, you may find updating your templates through export & import of invoices more helps quicken things up?
You could export invoices that have been generated from your template to CSV, update the amounts in the exported file, and then re-import.
This will create 'Draft' invoices in your Xero org from which you can create a Repeat template and then delete the draft. 🙂

Hi everyone, totally get wanting to get an update from us on the idea here. Having a fair amount of interest from users I can say that Quote reminders are defintiely on the teams radar, however with current focus largely on new invoicing we do not have any immediate plans for this in the next 6 months.
I can assure you, though we mightn't be able to provide updates as frequently as you'd like to see, our product teams are heavily involved in the forums here and our community team often connect to share trends, discuss developments and externally communicate changes that are coming across Xero products. It's important to us to continue developing Xero to streamline payments and help our customers get paid sooner, and your idea here does sit in this realm.
When the teams resources open up and we can consider new development in Quotes like being…

Hi team, we're pleased to share that we've released some more features, enabling more users to pay suppliers without logging into your bank!
For our UK customers we've made paying overseas suppliers easier with international bill payments.
Using open banking, you can now securely send money to 180+ countries including Europe (EUR), America (USD) and Australia (AUD). So you don't have to juggle multiple platforms or hidden fees. Whether you're paying a single bill or multiple bills at once, authorise payments prepared by your team and easily track which suppliers have been paid.
We've also launched bill payments in Xero for customers in the US, powered by BILL.
You can make simple, secure payments directly from Xero. You'll be able to authorize payments prepared by your team, and easily track which vendors have been paid. Plus, gain access to millions of vendors over the BILLTM network, and vendors…

Thanks for everyone's support in this idea. We understand the strong feelings expressed in your comments, where an invoice can be accidentally approved when still needing to go through a review or remain in a draft status.
As suggested by some users in this thread, if this has already occurred an option for now would be to add a note to the history of the invoice so other users are aware of the action and what needs to be done, or alternatively Void the invoice and copy to a new Draft invoice (consider if you need to change the invoice # before voiding the approved one, so you can use this on the new draft invoice).
While not a resolution for this idea, to avoid mistakenly approving an invoice an option could be to make use of the keyboard shortcuts that are now available in invoicing such as Save &…

Hi everyone, we thoroughly appreciate your input and letting us know your appetite for being able to set the Reply to address for your Xero organisation, here in the idea. As many will have seen with new invoicing, our team have begun testing and making small change to the send experience. While we've been able to make these changes when developing other areas of Xero, we want to be upfront that we don't have a timeframe of when we'll upgrade the email settings page just yet, but this is something we will get to in time - when we do our team will also review the Reply to address options as part of this. So, though there is no movement to share on this just yet please know we will let you know here as soon as there is.

Hi everyone, a year on from my last engagement we wanted to provide an update for you all here.
As many will be across we're in the midst of making a lot of iterations and improvements to new invoicing leading up to the retirement of classic invoicing in September (2024).
We have a fair amount of work lined up in the teams schedule over the coming months and to give an indication there isn't any committed plans around a function to add interest to invoices.
That said, we do have a team that have picked up and are considering how we might solve this with the technology in new invoicing - It's early days on this yet, but I'll share if there's any progress on this for you all here.
In the meantime, as has been shared by others over time there are a few ways you could accomplish this…

Hi community, first off thank you for the continued interest and feedback surrounding this idea. We’re continuing to build on the bank reconciliation experience in Xero and recognise the ways this feature will help improve the efficiency, flexibility and transparency of transactions in your business. Our team have done a lot of exploration into being able to surface and match Credit Notes when reconciling your bank account in Xero, and this is now in development.
We’ll shift the idea here into ‘Working on it’ and continue to update as there’s more detail of this to share.

I'd suggest that Xero go back to those customers whose feedback they relied on who "could" lose data to see if a) their issues have been satisfactorily resolved by the autosave, or b) their problems with the autosave are worse than those from the occasional lost or uncompleted invoice.
An afterthought: I don't recall seeing any community/product requests with large upvotes to bring in an autosave feature?
