    Hi community, as you've found Xero doesn't currently have a function that automatically tracks or calculates sales by sales person.

    In the meantime, you could use tracking when you record your sales, which will allow you to report based on sales made by each sales person.

    A suggested process is:

    • Create a tracking category called something like 'Sales Rep', and create category options within the category for each of your sales staff.
    • When a sales invoice or quote is created, you can include the staff member's name in the staff member (Tracking) field on the invoice/quote.
    • You can then use the Tracking reports to see the sales that relate to each 'Sales Rep' and calculate commission manually outside of Xero.

  3. I have observed that the timesheets section in the payroll system has been updated. However, this update appears to have introduced several questionable design choices that hinder its functionality and efficiency.

    Firstly, the employee list is not sorted alphabetically, which complicates the process of locating specific individuals. Secondly, the system no longer autofill's the default earnings rate, requiring unnecessary manual input. Thirdly, upon clicking the "Approve Timesheet" button, a redundant popup appears asking for confirmation of the approval, despite the action already being explicitly initiated. Lastly, when entering hours worked into a field, the system fails to clear the default…

  4. Your new "Make Payment" button and the Action column can not be removed/disabled in the Bills view. It is repetitive, distracting, and disruptive to my normal workflow.

    I would appreciate it if Xero did not diminish my user experience as a paying customer in order to promote a new service it is offering.

  5. When copying an invoice, we need to be able to copy and paste in the item code without it deleting all of the description, qty and cost.
    You can do this in classic invoicing, but when you do it in the updated invoicing it removes all the data on the line.

  6. Please can Xero add an Employee 'Known As' Name Field to the Employee Record, and show this alongside the legal name, on the Employees Homepage (& when running payroll) with the ability to sort alphabetically by this 'known as' name in both places.
    Nearly half of our employees go by names that are not their legal name. e.g. Annie = Kit Yee, Kate = Catherine, or go by their middle name instead of their first name.

    This issue is making running payroll ever more difficult and the potential for error incredibly high, as often the legal name bears no resemblance…

  7. Small Business Corporations (SBC's) can, under certain circumstances, depreciate assets in a 3-year schedule as follows:

    • 1st year: 50%
    • 2nd year: 30%
    • 3rd year: 20%

    See the attached document, under 4.2.

    Currently, this is not possible (I checked with Support).

    I expect this to work within Xero, as it is a regular tax rule in South Africa.

    Adding this schedule for South Africa would be extremely useful and important, as we now have to do the depreciation outside of Xero.

  8. You should allow current subscription holders the ability to create reports on all of their data. At the moment if you stop employee staff and therefore downgrade your subscription, XERO removes all payroll reports. So when you need to print a report you cannot without changing your subscription to include payroll again, even they you don't need to pay employees. It costs you a 30 day subscription to print one report. This is a big fault and something I can do in MYOB. Please fix this madness.

  10. It would be good if you could edit some fields in an expense after it has been paid, without having to undo the payment and redo. It would be the the same as for Bills where you can edit some fields after they have been paid.
    We pay our bills in batches so to undo a payment means you have to undo a lot of payments and redo.
    The fields we would like to edit (like a tracking category, or unassigning an expense as billable) do not affect the payment details.

  11. UK Payroll - allow employers who have received SMP advance funding to enter the amount received so that the SMP paid is not recovered, and the correct amount owing to HMRC shows on the Taxes and Filings page.

  14. Hi Team, my query is about Draft Invoices. Is there any chance of having a 'Stop do you want to proceed' when it comes to a draft invoice being sent instead of the actual Invoice? I was convinced that I had approved a draft invoice, yet when the email was sent, it was not the Invoice as per the subject reference, but the draft. Embarrassing to say the least.
    Just that extra step would be very helpful. Not the first time it has happened to us. Thank you,

  15. We signed up several years ago, and were really happy with the software as it was. Now we keep update after update, and price rise after price rise. Our cost has now doubled in 5 years. I know there's fancy "features" added to it now, but I don't need them. All I want is the version from a couple of years ago. Accounting, payroll for 5, Classic invoicing, old style reports, old style bills page, old style contacts, no cashflow analytics.

    Why not just make the older version available as a basic package for say £25 a month. No fancy…

  16. I note there are repeating (aka recurring) invoices and bills.
    I would like repeating quotes as well because every year, we issue a quote to some of our clients for maintenance agreements or hosting agreements. It is basically the same quote every year except that the amounts are adjusted for CPI

Currently Unallocated Expenses in Xero projects just show the item line description Which can make assigning to an estimated expense difficult especially when you have "Delivery Charges" I propose a change so that once an expense is allocated to a project and falls into the unassigned it shows the name of the supplier

  18. I have the a tablet and use a cover with a keyboard, it would be so much easier to use the app if the screen didn't default to portrait mode and activating the screen keyboard. Please allow the Xero app to rotate to landscape so that I can use the cover keyboard.

  20. We need sick leave to be recorded in days to line up with current NZ payroll legislation. 10 days sick leave. The current settings in hours only work for people who work the same hours on the same days. Anyone with variable hours or different hours on different days this does not work and manual accrual needs to be kept outside of payroll. Then leave balances need to be manually adjusted which is a lot of work. This has been an issue for many many years and would be good to get fixed.

    Hey team, as some may have seen we've been doing lots of work in the NZ Payroll space. For those just getting started with Xero (from 5 August 2024) sick leave will now be recorded in days, and can set up the Sick leave entitlement date.

    We appreciate many in the idea here have been using Xero for a while and we want to confirm this is something we're working on for our existing customers as well, however there are more intricacies to work through from what already exists to the new. We'll round back to confirm with more detail and to let you know when this is being released for everyone. Thanks
