  1. Ability to save the work by default when users’ creating a new invoice.

    Purpose: Users’ will not have to re-create a new invoice when they suddenly logged out from Xero.

    When you're next entering an invoice, you might like to use New Invoicing, where the entries you make are automatically saved.

    You can do this by clicking the 'Switch to new invoicing' option at the bottom of the page.

  2. From "business" then "bills to pay" or "invoices" and click on "export" from a search result, the payment dates are missing in both the Invoices and Bills export files. Only the invoice dates and due dates are exported. Please add payment dates to the reports. Thanks.

  4. When creating/editing an invoice with the new style, you can select fields to show/hide. We would like to be able to change these and set the changes as default - at the moment you have to go in and select the ones you would like to see every time you are editing an invoice. The main one for us is the discount column - we would like to see this on every invoice. Having this functionality to show/hide is good, but just don't want to change this every time.

    Hi everyone, we appreciate your feedback on the show/hide fields option. As you may have seen in other updates we're working on a new line item grid that will encompass a few enhancements we know our customers want to see, and will also include an improvement to the behaviour of the show/hide fields so the options you select will be retained. I'll come back to confirm when this is released.

  5. Ability to combine sales invoice and attachments into one PDF when emailing/printing

  6. Currently, it’s not possible to assign a invoice only-Purchases (orders and bills) user permission and not be able to see bills paid or to have the Invoice Only create drafts user role and see purchase orders approved by other users. Can you include this option in Xero?

    You can only create credit notes to Invoices or Bills if these aren't marked as paid on Xero, or by creating them as new items from contacts or using upload via Hubdoc.

    I think it would be beneficial to allow the creation of credit notes from bills or invoices that are already paid. Very often, there is a requirement for a credit note to be created when the bill/invoice is already paid. Adding the feature to allow creating credit notes based on the information already recorded on paid bills/invoices would save a lot of…

    Hi Wojciech, if an invoice or bill has already been paid there is no amount left outstanding for the invoice. It sounds like you'd like the ability to easily copy the detail of an invoice to a credit note? I've slightly updated the title of your idea here, for this. 

    If this doesn't quite reflect it'd be great to get more detail of scenarios you'd in which your business receives a credit note for a completely paid invoice or bill. 

  8. Currently you can add a bill / invoice without adding a invoice number or just typing a word or anything - example our debtors lady invoiced (Receivable invoice) a client and overwrited the invoice number (reference) to "Diesel R/Bay" so the invoice had no invoice number

    Hi all, appreciate the interest and rationale in wanting to be able to see under each history which invoice template was used to send the invoice.

    We are working on improving new invoicing history that'll eventually include when branding of an invoice has changed.

    However, we want to be upfront that recording the name of the branding template the invoice has been changed From and To is not something we'll be developing in the near term.

  10. New Invoicing - I need to print invoices regularly for counter sale customers. Using new invoicing it used to open a new chrome tab when you clicked Print PDF from there you could print or download the invoice easy.

    In a recent update (See link https://productideas.xero.com/forums/939198-for-small-businesses/suggestions/47646932-new-invoicing-print-pdf-option) the Print button now only allows you to Download invoices.

    Please revert to the old system where printing or downloading took the same number of clicks

    or

    • Change the current Print PDF button to read "Download PDF"
    • Add a new "Print PDF" Button that actually prints the invoice.

  11. The existing Customer Invoice Report has a "Paid" column. This column shows the payments allocated to an invoice. This column excludes any credits allocated to the invoice.

    The new Receivable Invoice Summary report has a "Payments/Credits" column. This column shows the combined amount of payments AND credits allocated to an invoice.

    I need to be able to run a report of invoices that shows ONLY payments allocated to each invoice. This is a crucial need for us. We need to know what amounts on invoices were paid by customers (i.e. payments) and what amounts…

  12. Thank you for delivering to keep the existing contact when copying an invoice. Now when you email the invoice the email address is not populated from the contact file. You have to go and look it up to send the copied invoice.

    Please refer to the contact details and pre-populate their contact email addresses.

    Sorry Lynne, It's a bit hard to troubleshoot and get the detail to understand why your contacts details like email aren't coming through to your copied invoice. I've just tested this with Draft and approved invoices being copied and the email of the contact was bought through each time as expected. I'd recommend raising this with our specialist through the Contact Xero Support option in Xero Central for closer inspection.


    Thanks for also checking on this, Olga - that message on defaults application is related to the Sales defaults saved against inventory items or the contacts record but doesn't apply to the contacts personal details. These should be applied when copying an invoice.

    To explain a little more - The reason defaults aren't automatically applied is because the line item fields will be prefilled with the information from the existing invoice that the new one is copied from.

  14. Invoice - Add ability to "Print PDF" button to select which Invoice Branding Theme to print regardless of the Branding Theme assigned to the Invoice.

    Use Case: Business has products which are legally required to be sent to a third party. White the invoice being sent to the customer is a full invoice, a reduced version is included for this third party. With current functionality, we have to Edit the Invoice, Change the Branding Theme, Print the PDF and then edit the Invoice and revert the Branding Theme back to our standard.

  15. Show the total amount of Domestic Reverse Charge VAT on an invoice, to make it clear to the customer what is due by them.

    It is not necessary to show the VAT amount on each line, when it is the same for the whole invoice.
    While Xero may be compliant with HMRC, it is not right for businesses who are being repeatedly asked for this information to be shown on invoices. It would be a simple fix for Xero as the functionality is already in place.

  16. I need 'Invoice Value Discounting' where we provide a discount on nett price and a different percentage is applied dependant on the net amount. For example 5% applied on invoice of 250, 7.5% over 500, 10% over 750, etc. You would set these up in a table and you can decide which clients have IVDs

  19. If I need to make changes to the invoice settings from within the invoice page, there's no way to access the settings. In fact, it was pretty hard to find the invoice settings at all! Please put a direct link from the Invoice summary page to the Invoice Settings. (I agree with another suggestion that access to Invoice Settings should be controlled by role type).

    Good to hear you've an existing idea you'd like to support too around access to settings, Natalie. Currently only the Standard or Advisor roles will have access to Invoice Settings - more on this here

    When it comes to accessing Invoice Settings from sales, while it's not available from the list view of invoices, you'll find if you have the right role you can jump across from an individual invoice by clicking the 3 dots in the top right of the page - see my pic below. 

    Does this accomplish what you're after here? 

  20. When a sales invoice is created, when you get the message Invoice saved, please also displau the new invoice number, so that is doesn't need to be looked up.
