  1. The Classic version of Invoicing used to inform you on the view of an invoice that was created from a Repeating Invoice when the Repeating Template had been deleted.
    The new version does not give you this information resulting in confusion and wasted time.

  2. BRING BACK CLASSIC INVOICING
    We are extremely frustrated with Xero's recent change to email branding, which now forces our invoices and communications to include the Xero logo. This change makes our company look unprofessional and cheap, as if we are using a third-party service rather than managing our own finances.

    Branding is crucial for maintaining trust and credibility with our clients, and this decision undermines that. As a result, we are now reverting to manually sending invoices outside of Xero to maintain our professional image—adding unnecessary time and effort to our workflows.

    Appreciate your feedback here and I see you have also found the idea around the Xero logo shown on invoices sent to customers.

    We want to be transparent that we will not be bringing back classic invoicing, however we are still committed to developing and bringing further improvements to new invoicing that we know matter to our customers. You'll find a few ideas that have been raised across the forums here that are in the progress of being worked on by our product teams.

  3. Hey Xero, there seems to be a lot of issue and complaints about new invoicing. How about giving us all a break and re-enable the old invoicing till you get thing sorted out.

    • Cant stop auto save , there is no undo button if you make a mistake.
    • Tabbing between fields is not the same.
    • Can't add expenses and leave them un-allocated to a GL, I know that the expense is @ cost price and needs to be completed. -Cant change the Customer with Billable expenses assigned without loosing the billable expenses and have to re-assign them

    Appreciate your feedback, Selwyn. We try to keep each idea separate so it's clear to others in community what they're adding their vote for, we can gauge the interest in a particular feature, and we can keep everyone updated of any development.

    In relation to the points you've shared here we have an idea you may like to join around being able to switch off autosave, and another around the auto suggest feature that current fills in the account GL field for you and relates to your second point on leaving this blank.

    Our team did make some changes to the flow of tabbing, so this should be more logical however it'd be good to get more detail on what's causing you issues when tabbing in new invoicing atm.

    It might help to get a bit more detail about the billable expense scenario you're running into, too. In terms…

  5. New bank rec reports are based on the start of the month to the current date as a default. The old bank rec report just had an end date. Would like a fast way to move end date field and not have to also alter the start date.

    Hey community! As a few of you have rightly pointed out, the previously posted workaround isn’t suitable if your end date is prior to your start date. In this case, you will have to update both start and end fields. 

    Thank you to everyone that flagged that, and apologies for the confusion.

    Because the the Bank Reconciliation summary lives in the Bank Reconciliation reporting pack, the date picker available is the same as the other bank reports (Bank Statement and Statement Exceptions).

    Understand that some users would prefer an ‘as-at’ date instead, similar to the older report. In the meantime, you can select the same date in both fields to achieve this.

    As that doesn't quite solve this for some users, we're leaving this idea open to continue to collect and share your feedback with our product team. 

  6. I would like to request the Xero add the feature to be able to approve and send customer invoices even when they have reached there credit limit in the new invoicing. Currently this feature is available in the classic invoicing of Xero. Xero are forcing everyone to move to the new invoicing from September 2024.
    We use an external software for our customer invoicing and then import these into xero the following day after the sale has occurred and email the invoices to the customer. Moving to new invoicing currently means that for any customer that is over the…

  7. When building custom reports, currently there is no way to add a Date column that updates to match the date range specified when viewing the report.

    This is available on all pre-defined reports, but can not be added as part of a custom report.

    There are many cases where it is desirable to build a report template that can be run for different, user-specified, date ranges, without having to edit the report each time.

  8. When allocating a credit note to a customer invoice we need to be able to report on this event and no date is stored at the point of allocation.

    In the current system you can see credit notes allocated against invoices only when in the documents as a credit note displays similarly to a bank payment. You can to an extent identify credit notes allocated against invoices by running reports against the Accounts Receivable ledger, filtered by source 'credit note allocation' but you cannot filter this in any way to see recent events.   9. Separation between Sales Tax/VAT/GST lock date and accounting period lock date.
    It would save a significant amount of time if VAT periods in Xero could have a separate lock date than the accounting period lock date. For instance, an invoice/bank transaction is still outstanding when filing a VAT return, and the VAT return date could be locked so once this outstanding transaction is completed at a later date, it would automatically appear on the next VAT return.   10. It would be better is the invoice reference could allow for input of longer names, without scrolling, so it's all on one line on the invoice.
    Currently, the invoice number character length and the invoice reference character length are the same, which seems odd, as usually the invoice number is just a few characters, but the invoice reference can be long (project name, case name etc)

  11. The longer I use Xero the more supplier invoices it stores.
    When I use the recent bills report it takes so long to go back to the beginning 2015 in my case before it allows you to put in a date search.
    It would be great if we could have a function to archive old supplier and customer invoices- not losing them altogether but just in the background to be viewed if needed.

    Hi everyone, we understand why people would want to be able to apply a credit note within a locked period however we wanted to provide more context on the purpose of lock dates and reasons for the way they work at present.

    Basically put lock dates prevent users making changes to the accounting records prior to the lock date. Their role is to prevent unintended changes which would alter reporting outcomes be they financial reports, VAT/GST/Sales Tax reports etc. Lock dates ensure financial data is accurate and trustworthy.

    When a credit note is allocated to an invoice the allocation date is dated the later of the two documents, the first day where both exist. Credit note allocations require creating journals on both a cash and accrual basis, which is why if both the invoice and the credit note are in a locked period, the allocation can’t be done.   13. When Xero are emailing out their invoices please can you go back to attaching the invoices as a pdf as it quicker to be able to forward them rather than having to sign in and save them as draft, especially when you are having to do loads for clients.

    Thanks for sharing back on this, everyone. We'd like to confirm the way the options works now when sending in new invoicing - This is triggered by previous behaviour.

    So, when you send using new invoicing, the selection for 'Attach PDF' is driven by the last invoice you sent. If the last selection was unticked the next invoice you send will automatically be unticked, and vice versa.

    What's worth noting is that this is a browser based setting. For example if you change computers or browsers your setting will revert to default where both options are unticked. As you'll see from my recent update on this similar idea this is something we may explore further down the line but we don't have any immediate changed planned for.

  14. The new invoicing doesn`t transfer the "Reference" field information to the email area and I have to retype this every time. The previous version just transferred it all. Now this means more work, having to input the reference three times in the process
    Also there is no confirmation anywhere that the files I attach are being sent. If you PREVIEW it does not show the files anywhere ?

  15. On the PDF invoices, Xero automatically CAPITALIZES the entire town/city name, even in my custom invoicing template. It looks unprofessional and I want it to go away. I've avoided this by typing all new addresses on the first line, but I have imported hundreds of contacts into Xero and I don't want to go in and change every single one of them.

    Hi all, in Xero City, State and Country fields appear in capital letters when using a standard invoice template. This is because the US Postal Service (USPS) recommends these fields are in all caps.


    Currently you could use an advanced invoice template and replace the merge field <<ContactPostalAddress>> with some or all of the following merge fields to change the way this appears:

    • ContactPostalAddressLines
    • ContactPostalRegion
    • ContactPostalCity
    • ContactPostalCountry
    • ContactPostalPostCode
    • ContactPostalAttentionTo
  16. I mistakenly issued some invoices and had to void them. That made our invoice number sequence non-consecutive. This is a problem for my accountant here in Romania because we need to file the voided invoices as justification on using non-consecutive invoice numbers.
    I want to be able to print them as PDFs and the documents to be marked as voided.

This is a key time saving feature in our workflow and one of only a few reasons we cannot transition over.     Hi team, sorry we didn't return to update you on the deliver of being able to keep the contact when copying an invoice with new invoicing.

    This was released a couple of weeks ago. Now when you copy an invoice to a new draft invoice you'll get the option to keep the same contact.

    It;s worth noting that while the contacts details will follow through to the new invoice for sending purposes. Defaults are not automatically applied - So, if you'd like contact defaults to be applied to the new invoice you'll need to remove the contact and then re-add in the new draft invoice.

  19. Draft sales invoice. I would be helpful that when entering a sales invoice for a customer if Xero could advise/warn you that there is already a "Draft" invoice in the system.
    I add to draft invoices each week, and sometimes a draft that is already in existence gets missed.

  20. When copying an invoice directly from a customer’s activity invoice list, the new draft invoice incorrectly sets the due date to yesterday’s date - this generally happens if the monring only.

    For example, if copied in the morning, the new invoice shows today’s invoice date but a due date of the previous day.

    Even more concerning, Xero allows the user to approve and send this invoice without flagging the error, meaning an invoice can be approved and sent with a due date earlier than the invoice date.
