  1. Very simply, short term cashflow does not include a range of items the biggest and most important of which is payroll. I think if you are selling this feature you should be very wary of the need for a disclaimer if the feature fails to be accurate, and decisions could be made on false information if for example the biggest expense item being wages is not included.

Granted it should be something people take great care when making financial decisions and should note the issue, many don't have great financial literacy which is part of why xero was created in…

Thanks for your feedback here, everyone. To confirm, if you're using Xero Analytics Plus the dashboard can predict payroll expenses if they’re reconciled as spend money transactions or bills, and are regular in amount and frequency. To manually include payroll expenses, add them as upcoming money out transactions.

We don't have any planned changes for how these type of transactions are represented in Short term cashflows in the near term. If there are any updates made we'll share this with you here.

  2. The “Favourite” feature in the Reporting section is excellent, please consider expanding this to other dropdowns or sections across the platform.

This could help address the long-standing need for sub-menu shortcuts or easier navigation, especially for commonly used tools like Repeating Invoices or the Chart of Accounts.

Note: historically, I’ve used browser bookmarks as a workaround for this. However, recent updates seem to have made these bookmarks unreliable, some now fail to link correctly, and this issue appears to be getting worse. I fear with this update It may no longer be viable to rely on bookmarks as quick links.

Hi community, thanks for your feedback here! Chart of accounts page is now available within the Accounting menu 😊

In terms of bookmarks you may have saved, there's a chance with the change some bookmarks may have stopped working - In this scenario you should be able to bookmark the page again and it'll work in the new experience.

  3. As the new invoicing is no longer optional. I believe this issue must be addressed for all customers in the United Kingdom.

When adding a new contact upon invoice creation, allow us to search for the address via postcode like we used to. This could be achieved by postcode search ABOVE Billing Address, then auto-populate the billing address based on the input post code.

Note there were many issues with the search results which must also be addressed (See: https://productideas.xero.com/forums/939198-for-small-businesses/suggestions/46289185-contacts-improve-uk-postcode-lookup)

OR alternatively allow us to simply input the full address as one line and YOU automatically digest it and…

  4. An employee is in charge of paying our foreign supplier accounts. So we gave him the role "Invoice only (Approve and Pay). Unfortunately, he is not able to see a full statement of the supplier account with all invoices, credit notes and payments made so he does not know how much is owed. He is also unable to enter payments against a supplier without an invoice already existing in Xero, which is an issue when making payments to suppliers who require payment in advance. We cannot grant him full access to see bank details because if we did he would…

  5. The problem:
Xero Payroll does not currently allow reporting by Tracking Categories (e.g. by location, cost centre, or department). While Tracking can be applied to invoices and expenses, payroll reports (Pay Runs, Pay History, Payroll Activity, etc.) cannot be grouped or filtered in the same way.
For businesses with multiple locations under a single entity, this means payroll costs cannot be easily allocated to the correct branch. At present, the only workaround is to export payroll reports to Excel and manually tag employees, or rely on journal postings into the P&L.
    What’s already set up
    Employees can already be…

Hey Timothy! It's great to see ideas like this from the community, thank you for posting it. After reviewing your suggestion for filtering payroll reports by tracking category, we've now made it visible so it can gain support from other community members. Community members can now add their votes and comment on how your suggestion would help them. 🙂

  6. Could you please add a feature to fill a tracking category for every line in a bill or invoice?
I am dealing with multiple pages of line items on a bill and each bill belongs to different locations (tracking categories). Note that allocating the tracking category to the supplier account, won't work, because they deal with all our tracking locations. If we can add the tracking option once with an option to fill all the remaining lines, it will save us a lot of silly repetitive work. Currently, we have to type, select, tab, tab, tab, tab, and then repeat…

Hi team, this isn't something we have direct plans for developing atm, however for those with the Adviser role you could consider using Find & recode as a way to bulk assign tracking to your transactions lines.

It's important to note that it's not possible to undo a recode, so if you're unsure of how the features works at all we';d recommend trying it out in the demo company first.

  7. When we create a bilk of invoices we are stuck with Xero trying each time to allocate an existing Credit Note that will possibly never be allocated. How do we disable this annoying function?

  8. The recent changes to the contacts screen have done nothing but hinder our business. You have removed the "Payments in past 12 months" which is something we rely on heavily when managing our clients. There is now no way to see all payments by a particular client where there are credit notes applied or they have paid by different means (sometimes by card, sometimes DD and sometimes bank transfer) as we would have to search each account separately and manually pull out the credit note balances. Very laborious and this is information we use daily in our credit control procedures.

  9. This column is useful but could be improved.

As already noted in another existing idea, it would be good if there was a way to indicate whether the discount is per-item or for the line. As it stands, if there is a count, then to emulate a dollar discount on each item, we have to manually calculate the total discount for the line (number * $ discount) to enter the appropriate line value.

The percentage discount option is good also (as it avoids the above problem with specifying an absolute amount). However, it has a different problem in that the…

  10. Budget Manager - Ability to Archive old budgets that relate to archived tracking categories.
At present the budgets still appear within budget manager even though linked to an archived tracking category. It would be great that when you archive a tracking category that the budget is archived along with it or just the ability to archive old budgets in budget manager. At present you can only delete so you lose that history.

  12. I note there are repeating (aka recurring) invoices and bills.
I would like repeating quotes as well because every year, we issue a quote to some of our clients for maintenance agreements or hosting agreements. It is basically the same quote every year except that the amounts are adjusted for CPI

  13. Hi all!

I'm a one man band IT business, and I've just started being put on retainer by a company which is great, however I'm finding accounting for the retainer to be a bit burdensome.

Currently, my plan is it add the retainer's ammount as a credit note at the beginning of the month, and then somehow nullify any remaining credit at the end. However, I was wondering if it would be possible to add a way of managing retainers separately and more efficiently from credit?

Or even just having the option to add an expiry date to a credit…

Great to hear how you're currently using Xero with Credit Notes to manage this process for yourself, Joseph. I've slightly amended your idea for being able to set an expiry for a credit note as it's quite unlikely that we'll look to create a completely new feature for managing retainers.

Having a quick look at some of the other ideas raised in community, it looks like some people maybe using SimPro as a means to manage these, alternatively you could explore apps in the ecosystem that may meet your needs. 🙂

  14. I think it would be great to have a screen to manage notifications settings.
This could present a long list of notifications for different things (e.g. for me the important ones are activity statement due soon, STP filing overdue).
For each item, the user could select if they want it active, how they want to be notified (e.g. header line, or in a widget), and whether to be emailed (very helpful for people like me who only log in once or twice a week and do a days work).

As a side note, the first of my important ones was…

  15. When a credit note is approved, the next page that pops up is the Allocate Credit Balance screen. This screen does not state who the customer/supplier is, and when creating multiple credits, it can be hard to recall who each one is to. It would be great to have the Allocate Credit Balance screen displaying the contact of the credit (the reference would also be great, but I have already voted for that one separately).

With the new invoicing re-vamp this would be a great opportunity to increase the information on the Allocate Credit Balance screen too.

  16. Some of my customers utilise my services through a scheme where their employer or a separate 3rd party will pay their invoice.
Often this same employer or 3rd party will be paying for many of my different clients and they will often pay me in one payment.

Think of something like an insurance company paying for repairs on many different vehicles, or NDIS payments for the provision of health services to many different customers.

I quite urgently need a way to keep each customer separate so that I can easily retrieve sales history and data based on individual customer, and…

  17. Unable to add credit note to an existing invoice in the new system.

You can choose from the click down box - Create and Apply credit -
    - the next screen is the credit note with all the details from the invoice, But .. it doesn't add the name of the company/person to credit note
    - when you click on approve it can't save it as there is no name.
    - I can't see where you can add the name.

You have to create a new credit note, and manually transfer the details over from the invoice to the new…

  18. Currently after we assigned billable expenses to a customer and subsequently when we create a new invoice with the billable expenses, noted that the tracking category named Projects as well as account code are not auto-fill. We need to fill in manually which is time-consuming, imagine there are 100 items in the invoice.

It will be very helpful and save time if the account and project code will be auto-fill in the invoice. We really appreciate your support and looking forward this can be implemented. Thank you!

  19. A note of outstanding, unreconciled statement lines before completing a VAT return.

Currently you click review and can see the VAT return; however, it would be useful to have a box that would flag if there any unreconciled transactions within the VAT period.

This would help to ensure no transactions are missed when completing a VAT return.
