Xero Advisor Financials - Automatically fill notes or alert if figures don't match
Currently notes need to be updated manually on the financial statements (as far as I am aware). New accounts need to be added to the respective notes otherwise the figure in the notes will not match the figures in the financial statements.
I feel that this is inviting error as inevitably there will be times where this process is overlooked.it would significantly simplify the process if Xero recognises where a note is connected to a financial statement line item, and then automatically fills in the notes with the same accounts grouped in the financials.

Xero Projects - Needs Total Estimated Hours & Total Used Hours (for Tasks) at top of Projects
Xero Projects - Needs Total Estimated Hours & Total Actual Hours (for Tasks) at top of Project. We quote projects based on hours and $ for each task. We would like to be able to easily see 'total hours' at the top of the screen for the project, and then total hours used, so we can see how many hours we have left to go on the Project (helps us to keep worked hours in check). Xero Expense - Use date of last entry
When entering expense claims, the program should be set to retain the date entered in the last expense claim item. When catching up on accounting, it is cumbersome to be working on July in December and have to go back and change the entire date for each entry. I should be able to retain the last entry date on the next and simply be able to edit the day.

Xero Me - Automatically blank out leave approved days and public holidays on timesheets
It would be great if Xero Me would automatically blank out the approved leave, and public holiday hours, within an employee's timesheet (manually overwritable of course) so that they cannot (or are warned not to) double up their hours. e.g. they have annual leave approved, to have a Friday off, but they can also enter paid hours on their timesheet for that same Friday, thus enabling double pay for that day.

Xero Subscription -Turn the e-invoice into a new Repeating Bill
Xero subscription - Have a way to turn the e-invoice into a new repeating bill so that it can show up in the bills you need to pay widget. I know I could create a new repeating bill but I can not see an option that will let the Reference and the line description update to what is on the e-invoice.

AU Payroll - Employer Expenses
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE add an option to Payroll that allows employer expenses to be processed. The Union our company is a member of insists we pay as an employer expense into a redundancy program and also an income protection program for each employee. The Union demands that the payments are detailed on each employees payslip. We can only do this if we have an employer expense option. One of my clients in the United Kingdom uses the UK version of XERO and their version allows for this. Come on Australia, catch up!!!

Ability to record an annual shutdown leave.
Purpose: Payroll admin can easily record annual shutdown leave when they need to make a calculation around separating employee’s anniversary dates and start dates.

Expenses - Option to include employee's expenses on customer's invoices
Most businesses have their employees incur expenses, such as mileage, which are chargeable to their clients. This means that the expenses need to both be added to invoices to clients and paid back to employees. This should really be done by simply getting employees to submit their expenses using, for example Hubdoc. However, at the moment, the systems available allow to to only one of the 2 things described above thus creating a lot of unnecessary admin work and potential inconsistencies between what has been charged to clients and what has been paid to employees.

Contact | List view - View mobile when no phone number
It would be great if in Blue Xero in the Contacts list the "Mobile number" can be displayed when there is no actual phone number, currently you need to open the contact to see the Mobile Number. a bit frustrating.
8 votesWe've just released a recent improvement to searching contacts where you can now search a contact by any phone, direct dial, mobile or fax number saved in their contact record.
While you won't be able to see a contacts mobile number from the screen, you'll be able to search for a contact by a mobile number that's been saved for them.
We don't have further change planned to add more detail to this screen atm but we'll continue to track the support of the idea here.

Expenses - Scan receipt and suggest matches to expenses
Add an option when uploading receipts to scan in the receipt. This can then take all relevant information from he receipt and give you the option to match this expenses with similar information or to create a new spend money transaction.
Much quicker and simpler than manually adding this information every time you buy from a new supplier, and will be quicker to match to transactions.

My Xero | Organisation - Make the whole box clickable rather than just name
This is a minor User Interface bug that has been bugging me for years.
Basically, almost every time I go to the my.xero.com Organisations page I end up clicking and waiting then realising I haven't clickedin the special place that works. The user interface here is misleading. Whenever your mouse curse enters the large box containing the name of one of your companies, that whole line highlights. But the only place you can click to actually get it to go to that company's dashboard is the text of the company name.

Xero Files: Simple email address for email to files
There should be a way we can change the email address that the files inbox accepts to make it more tailored to clients?
For example for a client, their inbox files email could be: xero.inbox.owerthsgm56785.49n6356@xerofiles.com which is crazy!
It would be so much better if it could be something like xero.inbox.clientname@xerofiles.com

Contacts | Payments - Direct debit file upload
Want to create a AFI file in Xero to collect payments directly from my client's via direct debit.
13 votesHi 👋 you can set up direct debit payment services with GoCardless which enables more seamless payment collection from your customers.
Being rather security conscious we don't have any plans for enabling export of this sort of information from Xero any time in the near future and you may want to explore other options like the GoCardless integration for now.
We'll keep an eye on the interest for this here.

Xero Ledger - split payment
There should be a way to input dates when we want to split the payment to multiple items (invoices/bills) when we reconcile (e.g. cash code or find and match).
Right now, if I want to input multiple invoices/bills that is linked to a one payment, all invoices/bills will need to have same date as the payment date which is technically incorrect.
1 voteHi all, returning to the idea we're going to shift this across to delivered. As noted i my earlier response you can manually enter a payment amount and date of payment on an invoice or bill - Meaning if you need the payment date to differ to the date of the statement line imported this could be manually entered on the invoice or bill pre-hand and matched to the one payment when reconciling.
Alternatively, when reconciling a transactions through find & match in Xero you have the option to 'split' where you can apply a set amount of the payment to the transaction rather than the full amount.

17 votesHi team, we appreciate the idea here is more surrounding the ability to create rules to help curate the automated entry of data in bills created via the email to bills process.
However, I did just want to confirm the existing options that are available to help with the automatic entry of your bills as there are multiple paths you could explore.
As per this idea, in it's current form email to bills will use the data of your emailed file to automatically create a bill and fill fields.
There is also Hubdoc that you can connect to your organisation and use to publish bills to your organisation, and most recently we introduced Upload where you can upload multiple files to Xero at once to create multiple draft bills.
We don't have any plans around expanding email to bills to add the ability to set rules. but we'll continue to…

Invoicing - Auto send receipt when payment applied to invoice
Allow XERO to automatically send a receipt to a client when an invoice is paid in part or in full.
103 votesThanks for all the feedback and detail on your needs in the idea here. As you'll see from each others comments there are different points at which businesses would want to be automating this process. Not really a one size fits all approach.
As noted in recent comments, we recently made a change for new invoicing flow where (like classic) you can now choose to Send receipt from the payment confirmation that's shown once you apply a payment to an invoice.
At this time we don't have plans for automating this flow however we're still attuned to the idea here and will be sure to share if there are any plans made toward this in the future.

I've done some testing to check around this and can confirm - While not currently available for iOS devices when using the Xero Accounting app, this is possible on and Android device with the mobile app, or when using Xero on a desktop.
There are some complexities adding to iOS and with a very little usage from IO users there are no plans at present to develop this there. However, it'd be good to get a better sense of the interest, and we'll start to track this through the idea, here. 🙂
