Multicurrency - Support for new currencies & BitcoinTo have the ability to add additional currencies that are not on the standard list. Purpose: Business accept payments in Bitcoin and have no way to add that to the currency list. This would allow the ability to calculate tax, profit, and loss from the currency/cryptocurrency that the business is using. 126 votesHello I am the product manager for the group within Xero which looks after the currency capability. I follow the digital currency space closely, I find it incredibly interesting both sociologically as well as technically. However as a product manager my role is to ensure that my engineering group works on the things that create the most value, for the most people, and in alignment with the company's long term goals and aspirations. Digital currencies continue to have an extremely passionate, but also extremely small group of users who want to see them handled in Xero. The cost remains very high for us to deliver this feature, and does not make a difference to enough peoples lives to justify that investment. There are a lot more touchpoints than many people appreciate to implement crypto properly. Huge decimal precision, UX, currency rate feeds, revaluation logic, reporting - all need changes to support this in the way that needs to be done to allow proper accounting. Digital currencies aren’t prioritised in the next year, but our group is working on other initiatives which lay the groundwork so that in the future I truly believe we will be able to justify working on crypto, and that what we produce will be world class. I continue to monitor this thread and I look forward to sharing news that is more in line with what you hope for in the future. Contacts - Automatic Credit Hold/StopAbility to automatically put customers/contacts in Xero on credit hold. Purpose: This is to make staff within the Xero org can’t send the invoice to the customer if they have an overdue payment. 77 votesHey community, As some of you are aware, you can edit a contact and set a credit limit, and optionally block new invoices when the credit limit is reached in new invoicing. Understand that a few of you are asking for a feature to put a stop on a contact so they can’t be sent invoices regardless of what their credit limit is, as well as others who'd like to see this implemented on the supplier side. We'd like to confirm that this is not something we have plans to develop at this time. We're still interested to get a clearer understanding of users that'd like to see this developed, and will continue to track this through the conversation here 👀 If there's any change we will let you know on the thread. Thanks

Organisation settings: Email Templates - HTML template to send with invoicesAbility to create email templates using HTML. Purpose: It’ll make users’ able to edit the email templates easily, especially when inputting their company logo. 60 votesWe appreciate the interest in more customisation when sending documents from Xero, everyone. Currently in the space of new invoicing we have recently released a new send modal that enables the use of rich text formatting, and allows you to cc and Bcc emails. Currently this is limited to send of invoices with new invoicing only, however over time we will look at expanding this to other areas of Xero that you can send from. I'll keep you updated of any further enhancements surrounding this, here.

Invoice - Add notes/comments line itemAbility to add 'comment' only lines on invoices that run the full width of all the invoice table boxes. Purpose: Users often want to add some comments specifically to a client in the line item. 101 votesHi everyone, understand the difference between a description only line and what's being asked for in the idea here. This isn't something we have planned at present. We do want to highlight the existing option for anyone interested that could benefit from the option mentioned earlier in the conversation (thanks, Paco) Currently, it is possible to 'description' only lines to an invoice (with no Qty or Price) where you can enter up to 4000 characters worth of detail that could help you signal a note within an invoice to your customer. We will continue to assess ideas in the forum here and let you know if there are any changes surrounding this to share.

Sales Invoices - Add interest to late invoices (including paid/part-paid Invoices)Ability to add interest for the late payment. This includes part-paid too Purpose: Save time by adding the interest without having to delete the existing one and remake a new one with the additional interest. 1,029 votesHi everyone, a year on from my last engagement we wanted to provide an update for you all here. As many will be across we're in the midst of making a lot of iterations and improvements to new invoicing leading up to the retirement of classic invoicing in September (2024). We have a fair amount of work lined up in the teams schedule over the coming months and to give an indication there isn't any committed plans around a function to add interest to invoices. That said, we do have a team that have picked up and are considering how we might solve this with the technology in new invoicing - It's early days on this yet, but I'll share if there's any progress on this for you all here. In the meantime, as has been shared by others over time there are a few ways you could accomplish this today; - Include detail of any charges for late payments to your invoice template Payment terms & details, and
- Edit and add a new line to your invoice to add the late fee - you could make use of Xero's inbuilt calculator for this, or
- Edit and add a 'mark up' to each line of your invoice - again Xero's inbuilt calculator could help with calculating the amounts
- Explore Xero's app store to see if you can find an integration that works for your business needs
- In an effort to prevent late payment of invoices Credit limits may help in being able to prevent customers raising too much debt with your business
We appreciate the options above don't automate the full process of what you're asking here, and we will share if there's any news. Invoices - Ability to recognise future revenueThe ability to recognise future revenue from the invoice. Purpose: To find out the future revenue, because for some businesses the invoice that they’ve issued to their customer is the revenue for the future month. 104 votesHi all, appreciate the interest and rationale in wanting to be able to recognise revenue of a sale at a date different to that of the invoice or payment date. While this maybe a function we look to explore in the long-term we want to be upfront that this is not something we'll be developing in the near term. In the meantime it may be best to look into connected apps that can solve for revenue recognition. We'll be sure to let you know if there's any change around this, here.

Sales Invoices - Combine and hide line items for customersAbility to combine and hide line items in the invoices. Purpose: To have good accounting and tracking of sales without showing the client the breakdown of all the items involved 217 votesHi everyone, thank you for your continued passion, and sharing how having the ability to group or combine line items within an invoice would give you the control to present information to your clients in the best way for your business. In lieu of a direct feature, while I appreciate it won’t fit all needs here, the inbuilt calculator may help in some cases to combine costs of multiple lines to one, and we appreciate there are some customers that have explored third-party apps with more extensive functionality for the time being to full-fill their needs. We’re updating the status of this idea to Accepted - While this isn’t on our roadmap atm, we see the value in this suggestion and it’ll be considered as we plan our future roadmap. We’ll update this thread if we have any more news to share.

Over the coming months you'll see some visual changes as we build and release these updates to Bills. While entry of a Bill and contacts will come this is not the core focus atm. We'll move the idea here back to Submitted and will let you know when there's movement.

Tracking - Make mandatory / requiredMake it mandatory to add tracking to items where available e.g Purchase Orders, Invoice, Bill, Expense Purpose: Prompt for users when manually entering invoices, and assurity that each line has been allocated to a tracking option 235 votesHi everyone, thanks for your continued engagement and support for the idea of making tracking categories mandatory in Xero. We really appreciate you sharing your insights on the benefits that adding this feature would bring to your financial reporting and month-end processes. Right now, you could use find and recode to assign a tracking option to any transaction lines that are currently unassigned. Regarding the future of this idea, we've carefully reviewed all your feedback and the critical need you've expressed for this feature. While we understand the value and time-saving potential this improvement would bring, we want to be transparent that making tracking categories mandatory across all relevant transactions isn't on our roadmap for development. If our position of this changes in time, we'll share an update for everyone, here.

Bills - Apply discounts on accounts payable invoicesApplying discount on account payables invoices. Purpose: User doesn’t need to manually recalculate the cost of each item 91 votesHi everyone, thanks for feeding back to us here. Understand the rationale for wanting to be able to apply discounts on bills in Xero, similar to how you can with Sales invoices. This is something our team would like to develop into bills, however there are a few other important pieces of work that need attention first. So, for the time being we'll leave this as Submitted but as soon as there's movement we'll update you of any change through the idea here. Thanks!

Invoicing - Customers to pay deposits on invoicesTo have the ability for customers to pay deposit through invoices Purposes: Business can just send one invoice to customer/client, so they don’t have to send multiple invoices when it comes to part payment. 414 votesHey community, we want to acknowledge all the feedback you’ve provided on this idea. We know from your comments here and through other channels that taking deposits or partial payments on invoices is a crucial part of the workflow for many businesses, whether it's to cover initial costs or to confirm a new project. In terms of current options, within Xero there is the ability to create prepayments. Alternatively there are some third-party apps that serve these needs, too. However, we do want to share that our product team is actively working on a solution that'll allow you to request and accept deposit payments. While we can't give specifics on a timeline as yet, please know that this is a priority for us. We're grateful for the detailed feedback you've provided so far, which has been invaluable in getting us to this point. We’ll be sure to keep you updated on our progress right here on this thread.
