  1. Recipient-Created Tax Invoices (RCTI) are a normal thing in some industries. Xero is not set up to create them; instead we have to do a workaround with purchase orders.

    I'd like to not have to use the workaround.

    The workaround consists of:
    - creating RCTI branding themes
    - creating a purchase order for each entity needing RCTIs
    - edit that purchase order with the new details every time creation of an RCTI is needed (so in labour hire this can be every week for each contractor)
    - send the purchase order to the entity needing the RCTI (editing the email…

  2. Invoice - Be able to have Xero automatically create a credit note if an invoice is negative. Show the invoice as paid in full and generate a credit note for the remainder. The credit can then be applied normally to other invoices on the customer account.

    Hi Darren, returning to your idea here we have released a change within new invoicing that'll suggest and enable you to create an Overpayment for any amount that exceeds the total of the invoice. Saving you the time of having to create this transaction separately. See more in my update on this idea. 🙂

  3. When purchasing product from clients we issue them with a hand-written Buyer Created Invoice on farm & then need to input this into Xero as a bill payment. But this doesn't show that it was a buyer created invoice. Please can this option be added

    Hi everyone, leading on from my last update we have now released improvements to eInvoicing for those in the UK! With the latest change you'll now find we've made it easier for you to opt-in to receive your Xero subscription bill via eInvoicing. You can now do this from your online invoice (My Bills page) instead of through the Billing contact page. Helping save you time and reduce manual data entry every month.😁
    We understand there are other regions that'd still like to see this functionality developed and we'll shift back to submitted and share when there is news of moving this further afield.
    We also wanted to address the recent comment of data sharing - We'd like to confirm that Xero do not share data with Peppol.com. We use the Peppol network and the subscription invoices are sent using our wholly owned provider, Tickstar.

  6. When creating an invoice for a customer and applying the “items” that were assigned to the customer it would be very helpful for Xero to apply all of the relevant information that was entered for the item to the invoice. Such as sales price, revenue account etc. Currently the billable expense information that is applied is the “cost price” only, which is not relevant on a customer invoice, and you must set the revenue account for each line item. All of the information is already entered in the inventory for the item.

  7. Prior to the last update the upstanding invoices on the sales dashboard used to show amount outstanding. After the update it shows the total of the invoice. This is misleading as it is not showing the actual posts sing amounts.
    I run a layby system in my shop and this new update although small is actually inconvenient as I now have to click into each invoice (many of my customers have various laybys ar one time) to see the actual outstanding amount vs total of the invoice.
    Don’t suppose you could change it back??

  8. Need to be able to void/delete invoices on mobile app. (Not have to do it via xero on computer)

  9. In project records the ability to select multiple or all expenses entries (by using the existing select tick box) and bulk update 'mark as invoiced' status.

    Thanks everyone, we understand the interest for being able to pass on credit card and payment service fees to your customers.

    Atm, as some of you have noted - if you're using or set up Stripe as a payment service for your organisation you'll have the ability to pass processing fees onto your customers. This'll be included in the Invoice total when the customer clicks on the Pay now button in your invoice - you can read up on and follow steps on this here.

    Outside this service, while not automated there are ways to represent and pass on fees to your customers;

    • Add detail to your invoice payment terms so this is clear to your customer
    • If there is a default fee that'd be charged you might like to set this up…

    Hi everyone, as much as we appreciate the feedback and interest of being able to receive a notification of whether an invoice has successfully sent. The team priority right now is around the body of the invoice within Xero. 

    We want to be transparent in this here and will move the status of the idea back to submitted.

  13. Invoice Only User SHOULD have access to "send and print" feature once the Purchase Order were approved. To address this concern, a user should have an access level of Invoice Only + Purchases, however, changing the permission to this level, the inputs made by other users, which might be confidential and unnecessarily to be seen by others, are compromised. I would like to request to add this feature (send and print) for the Invoice Only users.

    Good news team, quick view is out and this is now available to everyone. As you'll see from the bills list view there is now an eye icon that shows a right side preview of your bill when clicked. To simply move from one bill to the next use the arrows above your bill view. This makes it even simpler to take bulk action on multiple bills at once without having to open and review each individually.

  15. We have assigned users to specific projects but in order for them to see the invoices and bills against this project the settings must be changed so that they can access all bills, invoices and contacts to amend.

    I would like a feature so that someone assigned to the project can have read only access to the invoices and bills ONLY associated with this project. Allowing them to still run reports and view profitability on their project but they cannot amend invoices and bills or cannot access others that are not their projects.

  16. Invoices - Prefix in Date Format

    It would be great we could choose an invoice prefix in a date format that automatically updates each day. For example 20231123-01, 20231124-01 02 03 etc.

    I track my invoices by the date in which I send them so this feature would save me alot of time instead of having to manually update the date in the invoice prefix each day.

    This isn't something we have planned at present but will get a sense of the appetite here and let you know if there's any change. 

  19. When you export invoices, it gives you multiple lines for any invoice which has more than one line. It is therefore not possible to easily total up the amounts due because some invoices are on there multiple times meaning the values are overstated.

    Hi Stewart, is there a way you see the export being more helpful for you. For example would you be looking for a summary of each invoice? The Receivable Summary and Detail reports maybe useful for this sort of view and can be exported.

  20. When you import a tax invoice file you get to select when the invoice amount are either Tax Exclusive or Tax Inclusive.
    The default radio button option is always set as Tax Exclusive.

    It would be nice to be able to change this default setting so that the default option can be set to tax inclusive. I know it's a minor thing and while it might not save a lot of time, if all of your tax imports are GST inclusive, having the option to have this set as default so you don't have to remember to change it would…
