  1. On a multi currency company it would be better for the total amount showing due matches the balance of all bills as per the date they were raised.
    It causes confusion for clients when they pay a supplier, they usually just check total owed against the contact, if it's fluctuating to reflect exchange rates this means they may under or over pay the actual original bills.

    Purpose: Because creating a new invoice will generate a new invoice number, and if user can unvoid it, they can still get the same invoice number.

  3. It is all too easy to accidentally upload a batch of sales invoices to Xero from the wrong period. It can then take absolutely hours to delete these as Xero does not have the functionality to remove these en masse.

    Hi Sarah, when importing invoices to Xero, these should come in as drafts. You can Delete draft invoices in bulk from the Draft List view. 🙂

    Would be good to better understand the way invoices are coming into your organisation if there's a step I'm missing here?

    Thanks for your feedback on the thread. Though not useful for all, we did bring attention to the reports that could help some people in the forums here. 

    We'll continue to consider this and other ideas for customer statements as the platform evolves. 

    Again not a full resolve but another option that could be handy for some is the inclusion of the Outstanding bills link when sending individual invoices to your customers. Through this, persons of a contact will be able to view and get detail of the invoices they have outstanding with you at any given time. 

  5. There has always been a date column - add it back - why mess with something that has been used for so many years. Absolutely so desruptive to our professional services.

    Hiya Simona, sorry for not updating you on this sooner.

    Shortly after the release of the new report our team made a change based on feedback, so the report now shows Employee name and Date as separate columns, and the columns will be included when running the report by default.

  6. Some larger companies with automated systems do not want reminders going to the same email address that the invoices go to. Doing this results in a duplicate invoice going into their system, which stops the payment going through as they then need to manually sort out what's going on. They have one email address for the invoice and another for reminders, to avoid that duplication.
    Currently, we need to leave the email address on the contact, then turn off invoice reminders and make a note to manually send reminders.

  11. The only way of moving (using the keyboard) within an invoice or a bill table at the current moment is by using the enter or tab key. These two keys allow you to move horizontally.

    Many times I found myself wanting to move vertically instead! Could we have one key that will do just that?

    A similar feature is already present in 'cash coding' and makes the experience of reconciling way smoother. What about invoicing and bills?

  12. Invoice numbers to be sorted in sequential order so when you get past 9999 the invoices going to 10000 upwards don't then end up at the bottom of the list and out of order.

  14. Adding customer’s purchase order number in the sales invoices.

    Purpose: because some companies will not pay an Invoice without a PO, so it’ll make users’ workflow easier when they can search #PO to find the right invoice.

    We appreciate users wanting more flexibility in the data they show on invoices. At present our teams are re-developing some of the base features across Sales with particular focus on new invoicing.


    At this time, there are no plans for developing a fields for a PO number in invoicing. Focus is on existing features in invoicing.


    It's good to get a renewed understanding of interest here on Product Ideas, and if there's any news we will update on this here.


    In the meantime, there is a way the custom template can be edited to rename the Reference field as a 'Purchase Order Number' field - see more in the discussion here

  15. We are a subscription based business, so it would be great to be able to bulk update repeating invoice amounts. Either by selecting all the ones we'd like to change or by pushing through new inventory/product/service price changes. At the moment we have to change every single repeating invoice and this takes hours and hours!

    Thanks for the feedback and great to hear the use you find in repeat templates in Xero. 


    While there's no way to bulk update templates atm, you may find updating your templates through export & import of invoices more helps quicken things up?


    You could export invoices that have been generated from your template to CSV, update the amounts in the exported file, and then re-import

    This will create 'Draft' invoices in your Xero org from which you can create a Repeat template and then delete the draft. 🙂

  16. we should be able to do a csv bulk upload for receiving payments on invoices. the filed highlighted in yellow should be in a csv file, other fields such as invoice number or ref can be added. we do bulk upload and the invoice automatically updates with the payments.

    Hey community, we get the vying interest in this and how having a copy of the invoice sent within Xero would help when following up with debtors, or in disputes.

    As many of you have pointed out, the best option that exists within Xero for now is to use the 'send me a copy' checkbox. This gives you a solid record in your own email inbox to fall back on. While it takes a little setting up you could create a filter in your email inbox to route these to a specific folder for reference.

    Another smart tip as shared here could be setting up a dedicated email address to file these automatically, and keep things organised.

    Though not a solve for the body of the email that's being asked here, a change that we recently made for invoices is that all sent invoices will include the primary To: email address…

  19. I’m moving from an existing system to Xero, so need to enter my new data into Xero for the current financial year which the accountant then files with HMRC. But at the same time I need to import my older data without affecting the current filings. All the accountant can do is to lock the accounts from a date backwards, which means I cannot enter my old data.
    All I want is to be able to lock financial years, enter the old data and then use Xero to identify if the accountant needs to make any future adjustments.
