  1. In the age of outsourcing, it is impossible to outsource pay run function to an external service provider (especially if they are based overseas) since they can view employee's personal info such as their Tax File Number, Date of Birth, Bank account Details etc.

    Once the subscriber or authorized accountant/bookkeeper has created an employee card, they should be able to restrict the access of outsourced partner to just doing the pay run. The outsourced partner should be able to just view the employee name to do the pay run. This feature should restrict their ability to change bank account details…

  2. I would like Xero to automatically lock the ABN on a client's file after the first STP event has been lodged. This will prevent clients changing the ABN when they change the entity's structure and reporting STP incorrectly across two ABNs. Undoing this mess is a nightmare.

  3. The ability for an employee to be able to enter the number of kilometres travelled each day. This number being able to filter through to the pay run so the employer can pay an allowance of cents per kilometre.

  4. We need to be able to export SAFF (ATO super compliant files) to Superannuation clearing houses. I am unable to upload a file as Xero is not SAFF compliant.

  5. Add in ability to forward date when a superannuation payment is processed. I would like to submit the authority when I review the monthly super but have the payment not made until it is actually due, which would be a date in the future that I enter.

  6. When adding new Pay Items in Australia, Reportable as W1 should be ticked as a ticked as the default as the vast majority of Pay Items in Australia are Reportable under W1.

    Every time the award changes and we import pay items from Deputy, the new items have Reportable as W1 turned off and we have to manually change them.

    Changing the Xero default may or may not fix that problem but it should be the default nonetheless.

  7. In the new employment tabs in payroll especially painful if you have 100+ pay items and have to scroll down the list and MANUALLY click the item you want.

    Would like to start typing the name and have it jump down the list to that item, press tab and move on to the next section.

    Too much clicking involved.

    The 'Ordinary earnings rate' dropdown box supports text search as you've described 😊


    You may have to clear the field by clicking the x next to your earnings rate first, but once that's complete, you can type in your earnings item and select it from the results.

  8. Bulk delete/mark inactive pay items. We use deputy Awards integration and every time an award is updated we have to delete/inactivate so many pay items.

  9. I've noticed the Payment Summary Details Report no longer captures all the data ie RFBA that is input during the STP finalisation process. Would be great if we could have a tidier and shorter one (selecting what you want) rather then the CSV file.

    This morning we enabled PDF exports for the STP finalisation screen, and these exports will include all fields, including RFBA.

    There was also some requests for the ability to edit what's included in this pdf export. Conscious that this update doesn't quite deliver that, so I've spun that off in to a seperate idea 👉 'AU Payroll - Edit PDF export of STP Finalisation'

  13. Being able to group the account transaction report by contact is brilliant but unfortunately the report has default columns for Debit, Credit, Gross and VAT and not running balance or net.

    If the client is VAT registered the total showed by contact is VAT inclusive so please can the report also have the Net column turned on by default.

As some employees split payments between multiple bank accounts when they're paid, it would be good to have an option where this only happens when processing a salary payment, not reimbursing expenses. Had one where there were only expense reimbursements done (no salary/PAYE etc.) but the payment was still split and majority went to IRD. Perhaps a checkbox when entering the second bank account in that says "only split on taxed earnings" or something like that to avoid having to go and delete then re-add the additional account every time.

  15. Hi Xero Team,

    I’ve noticed that Xero currently doesn’t support applying mixed tax brackets within the same pay run for Working Holiday Makers (WHM). For example, if an employee is set to receive $2,000 in one pay cycle, and the $45,000 threshold is reached after the first $1,000, the first $1,000 should be taxed at 15%, and the remaining $1,000 at 30% — both within the same pay cycle, using mixed tax brackets.

    At the moment, Xero applies one tax bracket to the entire pay cycle. However, according to the ATO guidelines, doing so results in undercharging the employee, which…

In the same way that there are tick boxes for "Exempt from PAYG withholding", "Exempt from SGC" & "Reportable as W1" on Pay Items, can we have a check box for Subject to or Exempt from PTX & Workers Compensation so that a report can be generated for Payroll Tax & Workers Compensation calculations.

  17. Pay items bulk upload

    can we please have a way of updating pay items in bulk
    when items are imported via a different pay system the W1 area is not updated
    and to do 100 items takes so much time as they have to be one indivually.
    other items can be exported, updated and then imported back

  19. Head ledgers with correct names for UK market. We use Sales Ledger and Purchase Ledger not receivables and payables, also we call it nominal ledger or sometimes general ledger. Why can't you allow us to change the headings or at least set up Xero like Sage does so you can have a more accountancy based set up for advanced users and not the layman even though the content would be the same for both to see

Xero Expenses - Limit the selection of VAT rates available for employees to select (we have a client who has domestic reverse charge, reverse charge and other VAT rates that the employees will never need to select and therefore it would be better to reduce the available list for them to select from otherwise they are more likely to select the wrong rate)
