Login - Move 'Trust device' option above Login button
Its a small change but something that bugs me as i do it at least once, sometimes twice, a day.
Currently the "trust this device" check box is below the login button. If logging in solely on a keyboard you have to enter 2fa code, tab twice and hit the space bar to check the trust this device box then shift tab to go back up to the login button. So the keystrokes are enter 2fa, tab, tab, space, shift tab, enter
If the check box was between the password and login button then it would be, enter 2fa code, tab, space, tab, enter.
Its a very small and easy change and i think it just makes more sense.

Bill Payments - Add a bank account to Planned payment
Hi, I would love the ability to select one of our bank accounts or credit cards on the awaiting payments screen for each bill. i can select the planned date however this only tells me when it is going to be paid and it would be useful for planning if i was able to select for example the credit card it is DD from or bank account to aid in budgeting and cashflow.

NZ Payroll - History and notes in Payroll to show changes made
There should be an audit trail in Payroll detailing when changes to an Employee record is made (for example: date an address was updated for an employee and what it was until that date, likewise for other details such as email address, bank account number, tax code etc). As an Employer we should be able to rely on the digitised Payroll system we are using to determine when changes to an Employee's record has been made. In terms of creating an audit trail, this doesn't necessarily only apply to Payroll only and should ideally be something that is normal and embedded right across the platform, however when it comes to Payroll and employees, this basic functionality would be extremely useful in the event of HR/Employment issues or even when dealing with Inland Revenue regarding an employee's details.

Trial Balance - Enable "Edit Layout"
As a workaround for an issue caused by the obsolete Xero payroll service, Xero support suggested that I use the "edit layout" feature to group 2 accounts in the report. However, Trial Balance does not have an "edit layout" button, so I am stuck displaying 2 accounts that have canceling balances. One of the accounts is the system Accounts Payable account so I am not able to resolve the issue "correctly" with a manual journal entry. Editing the report layout is my only option.

New invoicing - Scan item UPC's to add them to an invoice/PO
I think being able to connect a barcode scanner to xero to allow users to create a new invoice and scan items to have them appear as line items would be very beneficial to many customers. A lot of people use xero to resell items and if i could create a new invoice and instead of manually type everything, to just scan the UPC and have the item pop up would help prevent human errors

Ability to create invoice templates interactively via Xero rather than through a word (.Docx) file.
This would allow ease when creating invoice templates for myself as well as clients

Bank Reconciliation - Filter transactions in 'Find and Match'
The recently added filter functionality on bank reconciliation was not what I was hoping for. Rather than filtering bank statement lines I want to be able to filter the transactions that I’m matching to it, by date.
When reconciling POS device daily receipts I can already filter for transactions with the right description but then I have to tick every transaction for the corresponding day. Then repeat for every day. If I could filter on date I could “select all” and match much more quickly. It’s currently extremely tedious!

Bills - AI reconciliation of supplier statements
AI automated Supplier Statement Reconciliation! To allow business to match the invoices in their bills to pay with the invoices shown on their suppliers statements to ensure none are missing and everyone is paid on time without delays. We are currently looking to outsource to external parties not related to xero to do this so it is possible to implement. But to have it centralised and available within xero would be great. By automating this process allows for focus towards other accounting and business aspects.
Perhaps displayed in a similar way to the bank feed reconciliation screen. If we can email into xero supplier statements (so thy don't go into the draft bills) and they are like the 'bank feeds' that the AI then automatically matches the invoice numbers from the statement to the invoices in our bills to pay. Goes green when matched for easy 1 click reconciliation, or stays showing so we can check to see what is missing.
OR even something much more simple with a statements tab where we can see the statement then have a section where we can search/filter by supplier and have tick boxes to select the invoices to match against the statement. When done it marks that statement as reconciled - again similar to the bank feeds reconciliation concept

Xero Me - Automatically blank out leave approved days and public holidays on timesheets
It would be great if Xero Me would automatically blank out the approved leave, and public holiday hours, within an employee's timesheet (manually overwritable of course) so that they cannot (or are warned not to) double up their hours. e.g. they have annual leave approved, to have a Friday off, but they can also enter paid hours on their timesheet for that same Friday, thus enabling double pay for that day.

Xero App store - Connected apps price and feature comparison
I am trying to find an app to help with cash flow forecasting. Xero could not have made it harder to compare. Why does the app overview page not say anything about the cost of the app? It only says free trial is available, however, I want to see what the ongoing cost is, before I even consider giving it a go. With Xero increasing costs so often and by an outrageous percentage, I find the lack of transparency of connected apps cost rather disingenuous. Xero needs to make it easier to not just search but also to compare features and benefits, and more importantly, costs. Also, the "connected apps" screen should not just give the option to disconnect but also to go to / open the app.

9 votesWe appreciate for many small businesses having more information about connected apps pricing is important when making and choosing solutions for your business.
While this isn't currently available, it's something our team are looking into surfacing through the Xero App store.
There's a bit of work to go into it, but we'll keep you updated of any progress for this here. 😊

New invoicing - Freeze header row when editing
Copy to Draft
We use copy to a draft invoice every day for Sales Entries in a Hotel Business.
The base Sales Invoice has numerous lines for all the possibilities to process each day's
sales. EG: Sales - Bottleshop, Sales - Bar, Sales - Bistro etc. There are approximately 50 lines on each Sales Invoice. Amounts are updated in the row that is applicable. Some rows will be $0 on some days. The GL codes need to stay the same.New invoicing is bring in a "default GL account" when the previous Sales Invoice had a $0 in that line. This appears to be the first Income Account in our Chart.
This is very frustrating & dangerous & has created errors in our coding.
We are having to check every line is correctly coded to the right GL account, before posting.
This is not giving us confidence in the New Invoicing feature. Also The spacing of the GL Account Code Column is too small.
After the GL code number & the start of the GL Account Name we can only see about 8 characters. With many Account Names like Income - Accommodation, Income Bottleshop etc, we have to click into the field to check the correct coding.
It would be much better if we could see either all & a much longer Account Name field. In addition, the row headings need to be fixed, so as you move down the lines of entry, it is clear what column you are entering into.
Thank you for some of the improvements in this area - of Copy to Draft.
We desperately would like those above also fixed.Copy to Draft

1 voteThanks for your feedback and sharing this with us here, Stuart.
Appreciate the detail and screenshot you've shared. You're first note around the account code filling may be related to the auto suggestion feature and I've added your vote onto this idea so if there's any change there, you'll be updated.
We also have a separate idea around viewing the full account name that I've also added you on to, here.
In relation to freezing or having a floating header row - Can see where creating longer invoices this could be helpful too. I've updated the title of your idea here so we can begin tracking interest specifically in this and share if there are developments.

Advisor pack - regular Balance sheet (not summarised!)
Can we get a regular balance sheet in the Advisor (management) packs?
For some reason it provides a summarised version, with statutory lines only (eg Fixed Assets, Trade debtors etc) but not the TB account by account.
"More" even has an "Account codes" option, which doesn't work 😕
Come on Xero!
1 voteHi Yaakov, sorry we've not responded to your idea here sooner. Is it possible you have a customised layout applied to the Balance sheet? If you're still finding accounts that you'd expect to be shown not appearing in the Balance Sheet report of your Management report pack I'd recommend raising a case with our team of specialists via Xero Central where we can take a closer look into what's going on.
I'll shortly remove your post from idea here, but please do get in touch with our Xero Support team.

Quotes - Make 'invalid account' warnings appear in a new window
When entering a quote, we have to enter an account code for every line of a quote. If we type one in incorrectly (for example entering code 2000 instead of 200), then Xero opens a link to add account codes. The problem is that this does this in the same window. You cannot go back to your 38 line quote that you spent nearly a half hour creating because Xero didn't open a new window, no they put the link to new account codes in the same window as the quote. If you hit the back button to get back to the quote, it takes you to a new and empty quote. Can you please stop doing this? If you need to take us to a new account code window, make it a separate and new window. Please.

AU Payroll - Leave liability reporting
We cannot see/create leave liability in our reports and/or our balance sheet.
I wonder how a true business value is going to be shown on balance sheet without this liability. To be frank and honest, it is not an idea, but quite basic necessity.
87 votesFirstly, thank you for all the support and detailed input on this idea. We know an automated Leave Liability Report could be a valuable tool for accurately reflecting a business’s financial position in AU Payroll.
While it’s not something we’re planning to build in the immediate future, we’ve seen some useful suggestions from the community, such as using manual journal entries or tracking in spreadsheets, though we recognise these aren’t perfect solutions.
We appreciate the time and thought you’ve put into sharing your feedback. While we’re moving this idea to Not in pipeline for now, we’ll continue to monitor its traction and share any updates if plans change.

Bills - Tax Amount value button for quick +/- adjustments
When entering a new bill, sometimes the VAT value is out by a few pence.
A spinner button added to the 'Tax Amount' column to quickly increase or decrease the value rather than having to delete and retype would be convenient.
See attached image of example.

UK Payroll - Choose which leave types employees can select
Unallocated leave. The only leave an employee should be allowed to create is leave that has been allocated to them. Unpaid leave if it has been created is automatically an option for all employees despite them not having it allocated to them. And thus the employees choose that leave which also requires no approval, which should also be a thing, why can employees automatically give themself unpaid leave without manager approval? So 2 changes above that I'd like implemented

aged debtors
Ability to see aged debtors' balance in the currency the invoice was generated in, not just in your base currency, otherwise, it is difficult to calculate how much a customer owes. The same is true when you view the balance for a contact. It shows the issuing currency for each entry, but the total is only shown in the base currency, which is not helpful if you need to inform someone of the balance outstanding.

Fixed Assets: Auto Calculate the Depreciation Rate from the Effective Life
At the moment Xero doesn't auto calculate the depreciation rate from the effective life. This means when we run the depreciation report the rate column shows up as blank if we've entered the effective life into the asset register rather than the rate. We should be able to enter the effective life and Xero auto calculates the depreciation rate for the depreciation report.
2 votesThanks for sharing your needs for Fixed Assets, here. While we appreciate it could be confusing to see a blank percentage in the rate column, we want to upfront that this isn't something we have plans of implementing in the near term.
As you may already be across if this is something you do need to track, the best option right now would be to export the Depreciation Schedule report and make adjustments as required outside of Xero in Excel or Google sheets. I know this isn't the ideal solution and if any change is planned we'll let you know here.
