  2. Add a box to payroll for an employee's preferred name, for those who don't use their legal name as their everyday contact, it doesn't need to link to ATO, so no major coding, just be there for reference when contacting the employee. I have several clients with staff that use their middle name or a different version of their first name, that they prefer when being addressed, and it being there in payroll would simplify things.

  3. I have clients whose bookkeeper does the payroll and also processes accounts payable/receivable invoices. Currently we can't have submit/draft only invoice access AND payroll access. This means that if they want to do payroll, they also get access to approval of invoices. Can we please create a user role where draft/payroll access is combined?

  5. Before posting a payroll, when you run the "Payroll Activity" report, include the leave entitlements about to be posted not just the pay items.

    So when you download a report to do a final check before posting payroll you can check ALL payroll activity not just half of it !

    Hi Kristen, appreciate you sharing in product ideas here. While this isn't something we have plans for I wanted to confirm you can currently check leave accruals by clicking on the employee's payslip prior to posting the pay run.

    Once the pay run's posted, before it's filed, you could run the report and find any issues, and revert it back to draft to make changes if necessary.

  7. AU Payroll - Setting up a Director in payroll

    When setting up an Employee in payroll that is only being paid Directors fees, you're not able to add their info directly in the Employee tab. Instead, you need to add the directors' fees pay item to their pay template, while also setting up a 0 rate in the ordinary earnings rate.
    It would be great if you could pull the Directors fees through to the Employee tab, rather than having to create a 0 rate to allow setup.

  8. Allow a timesheet to be created for the week ahead of the pay week. This allows employees with standard hours to enter their hours in advance. It also allows managers to run payrolls in advance if circumstances need it

  9. Under the employees deductions sections during payroll, if one has salary sacrifice, child support, and any other deductions, you have to process the pay run initially. And then you would have to manually do a separate payment to a payee

    Is it possible to have a payee that can be linked to the payroll deductions. Meaning when you run your payroll, the deductions will go against the payee and when the payroll aba file is created, the payee will be included in that aba file

  10. I have a client moving to a different platform for accounting but still needed a stand alone payroll platform for 23 employees and Xero does not offer this so we would be paying for all the other functionality that we won't be using to stay on Xero for payroll

    Hi everyone, though we appreciate the feedback we've received from you on plans here - as you'll have had communication of, with the launch of our new plans we made the decision to no longer offer a Payroll Only plan.

    Payroll is now offered within our Grow, Comprehensive and Ultimate plans that you can read more detail of what's encompassed with each on our website.

    The solution provided for the removal of filtering by Employee Group in the Payroll Employee Summary report now includes all employee groups ever in existence, including the multiple spellings which have since been fixed, groups deleted after never being used, and archived groups which have not been used in years and will never be used again.

  13. Please adjust the Leave Authorisers in Xero Me to be the employees in the business with Payroll Admin &/or the Authority to Approve Leave.
    Currently all user with PAyroll Admin are available for selection - which includes ALL advisors.
    As an accountant - we are having to revoke our access to a client's payroll to ensure that the staff in the client's business cannot select the accountant's staff members to approve their leave.

  15. It would be great if the employee group was included in the payroll reports. The company I am working for requires the employee ID (or employee group) to be displayed in the reports along side the name of the employee. Or if Xero could create a new field that has the employee ID number so that it is displayed in all payroll reports.

  16. The new Payroll Activity Detail Report is very hard to read when there is more than a couple of employees.

    I understand that the new report format has been designed to reflect the other updated reports in Xero. However, so that it is more user-friendly, can we have:

    1 - A blank line between each employee so that it is easier to see quickly where one employee's details cease and the next employee's details start.

    2 - Highlight the employee name by shading that line, again to make it easy to see where each employee starts on the report.

    1. pay as normal (public holiday)
    2. worked holiday + entitled to 1.5 pay + day time in lieu

  18. Payroll>Employees>Leave currently has leave balances in days and dollar values, this makes it difficult to determine what the amount should be either way.
    As the dollar amount may change due to pay rises or an average applied as per statutory legislation, it would be better if all fields were hours based values. This would make it consistent and easier as a consumer to use.
    As a user, I should not have to be trying to calculate what the values should be and if something doesn't appear to be right, I should not need to contact Xero to find out…

    Hi team, we've recently released changes in Xero Payroll. As you may have seen you can now set up working patterns for employees to more accurately calculate employees wages and leave. While Holiday pay remains in dollars, Annual Leave will show in weeks and FBAPS Leave will now be shown in days.

    Just to note, Holiday Pay is not a one to one correlation to Annual Leave, however if you prefer to have leave in hours you could consider enabling leave in advance. You can see our article here for more information on managing employees leave.

  19. UK Payroll - allow employers who have received SMP advance funding to enter the amount received so that the SMP paid is not recovered, and the correct amount owing to HMRC shows on the Taxes and Filings page.

  20. We really need to be able to set a limit, be it based on number of instances or a dollar amount. Having to do it maunally at present is very problematic when you have a large payroll.
