Invoicing – Enable full keyboard entry (date + account number) without mouse clicks
The current “Add Payment” workflow in invoices is inefficient for keyboard users. While manual entry of payment dates has been improved, the account selection still forces users to use the mouse, which breaks the flow.
We need a smoother, full keyboard-navigable process when adding a payment to an invoice:
1.Enter date manually (already possible )
2.Press Tab to move to the Account field
3.Type the account number directly
4. Press Tab or Enter to confirm selection without needing to click the search bar or manually select the account with a mouse
Right now, even after typing the account number…2 votes -
Projects - Expense Date to be shown on the invoice
Add an expense date to a project
When you enter expenses under projects, a date is required. We would like that date to appear on the invoices.
9 votesWhen you say you'd like the expense date on the invoice - would you expect this to be visible just in Xero, or o your customer as well?

New Invoicing - Populate Tracking column from settings in contact's Sales Defaults
Hi, the new version of invoicing will increase my work load. at present when you open an invoice to approve it, it is easy to select the tracking categories, as it is linked to the client profile. in the new version it does not and you have to go through the list in a drop down!
Also we have an issue when we change the invoice date. for example and Invoice raised on the 5th Feb should be paid on the 6th March. If we change the invoice date from the 5th to the 4th, it does not change…
3 votesThanks for your feedback on the idea here, with the way new invoicing works once you add a contact, any sales defaults saved for that contact in their record will be applied.
Adding a Qty or Price for a line will trigger Tracking defaults saved for them to be automatically applied. Similarly this applies to the any default saved for Due Date. If you have saved a due date that is driven by the invoice Issue date you should see this update if you change the Issue date on the invoice.
If this is not behaviour that you're experiencing please do raise a case with our team of specialists so we can take a closer look into this with you.

New invoicing - Show invoices with "includes Adjustments to Tax"
In Classic views if there was an Adjustment to Tax it was quite obvious when the Invoice (or Bill) had an adjustment to tax. Compare that to the new Invoice screen where there is nothing showing that this adjustment exists.
It must be sitting in the database somewhere as its shows in classic invoicing.Could this be added back into new invoicing plus could there be a report or filter that could show invoices or bills that have an adjustment to tax?
11 votesHi everyone, apologies we've not updated you on this idea sooner.
Where you're using the UK or Global editions of Xero it is possible to manually adjust the tax amount of individual lines of your invoice with new invoicing. This is slightly different to classic where you would adjust the overall tax amount of the invoice.
If the Tax Amount column isn't shown already, click the show/hide fields button where you'll have the option to check this - While this column is possible to view for all orgs, as with classic invoicing only UK and Global editions will find the option to edit the Tax amount of your invoice lines.

New Invoicing - Remove the zeros from the amount field
When entering after Qty field, amount is pre filled with 0.00 and when you type, it will put the amount after e.g 0.00120 instead of 120.00. Please remove the pre filled zeros as with classic invoicing and keep the new invoicing in line with everything else in Xero like bills and spend money etc. It is too different!😒

New invoicing doesn't contain previous useful features
New invoicing version makes me tick 'Include files as attachments' for every invoice I send off, whereas the old invoicing remembered my defaults. I prefer the old way where my preferences were saved.
New invoicing also cannot preview attachments, it always has to open a new tab to view an attachment. Old invoicing I could preview an attachment on a pop up within the same browser tab. I prefer just viewing the attachment quick within the same screen, I personally don't like having another tab that needs closing.
Invoicing notes are inaccurate. For example; the system keeps marking invoiced as…
7 votesThanks for sharing your thoughts and feedback on how you'd like to see new invoicing developed. All your feedback here is being shared with the team as they continue to iterate and develop this new experience.
That said, in order for us to get a better understanding of interest for the different points raised here it's best for us to track and update any progress on these each separately. We appear to have ideas for each of the points mentioned in the thread here and I've linked these below so you can join and follow any updates for each.

Projects - Order invoices by date
When converting xero projects / Invoice
6 employees work for the last month gets dumped on to the invoice in alphabetical order and from the latest date they worked
The client needs to see this in cronological order and with each task for the said date
eg
1 July
Dave
Fred
jim2 july
Dave
Fred
JimAt the moment this task of ordering said invoices can take about half an hour of ferrying each transaction up and down the page. Before Editing
So needs a filter button installed to do this please

New Invoicing - add "Hide invoice summary in email" option
Despite several separate requests on this forum, New Invoicing's email still begins with an invoice summary, unlike Classic Invoicing.
For us, relationship and communication are more important than asking for payment so Classic Invoicing's email is perfectly set up with our message first and the invoice following.
New Invoicing's email reverses this with the money part writ large at the top.
Andrew Chadwick described it better than I can in the post linked below. The idea has been marked as Delivered but, respectfully, it hasn't been. His and my points still stand.

New Invoicing | Send - Copy & paste multiple emails into the To field
When sending a new invoice to a client with multiple contacts, I find the most recent invoice relevant to the current project and copy the email details from the History and Notes entry for the action Invoice Sent.
If there is more than one email address, the old invoicing used to recognise that a comma separated the email addresses. I could paste that into the 'To' box without issue.
BUT IN THE NEW INVOICING, I get an error message when pasting multiple emails into the 'To' box: "One or more email addresses are invalid."
This means that I have…17 votes -
New invoicing - Increase size of item code display
The item code on the New invoicing shows much smaller that it was on the Classic Invoicing. Example attached shows how much harder it is to read. Can this be enlarged?

Aged payables summary invoice date
Aged Payables Summary - Invoices already paid showing + Print size
The old version report is far much easier and correct than this new one.
Old version would automatically show you invoices due for payment minus those already paid. This new version of the summary shows all invoices regardless if they have already been paid.
The print is also smaller, need a magnifying glass to see.
I've tried running the report in the aged payable details, time consuming entering all filters and hiding columns to basically print the summary that the old version automatically gives you.
Not sure why this…
6 votesHi team, a coupe of steps to set up and you'll be able to get what you're asking here - Run the Aged Payables Detail report, selecting the Date range for 'Ageing periods' and 'Invoice date' for 'Ageing by' before Updating the report.
Once it's set if you save as custom you'll find you can get to this view quite easily when you need, and if it's a view you'll run often save it as a favourite to make it easily selectable from the Accounting drop down menu.

Receivable Invoice Summary report - Filter based on Payment Date
Can we please have a function where we can filter the data based on the last payment date to show only invoices paid within the date range in the filter?

Invoicing - Show attachment option at the top of the page
The button to view attachments was at the top of the page in classic invoicing but is at the bottom in new invoicing. Our sales transactions are imported from our point of sales software via API. Every sales invoice has an attachment and we now have to pointlessly scroll down to the bottom of every invoice before we can view the underlying report. Please put the attachment button back in an accessible place!

Invoicing - Automatically delete draft invoices when merging invoices
I would love if when we merged Invoices into 1 from drafts it doesn't leave the draft that I need to manually go back and delete. This can cause double ups of Invoicing.

New Invoicing | Contact details - ABN
New Invoicing - Show ABN details with Client details in the "To" section of the invoice. All other information is there for reference, excluding the ABN.
To view the ABN details, you need to leave the invoice screen and go to Contacts.6 votes -
Online Invoicing - Auto attach PDF of invoice when saving as Draft
I've noticed that Xero is retiring classic invoicing, and that the Xero to Xero link option is not available in New Invoicing. Xero to Xero is an important feature for many of our clients especially in groups where there is intra-group invoicing with many items on an invoice this saves a lot of time! Please add Xero to Xero to new invoicing. I also want to ask if Xero to Xero can please automatically attach the pdf version of the invoice to the bill created in the opposite entity as this does not happen automatically.
5 votesHi Michael, we have an idea for Xero to Xero in new invoicing and want to be open that this isn't something we'll be building into new invoicing however there is still a way to use this feature. You can have a read of my full post on the idea.
In relation to your second idea around auto attaching the PDF of an invoice when it's created as a bill in the recipients organisation. I'll slightly amend your idea for this here and we can get a sense of the appetite for this.

Receipts - Add payment date on Custom Receipts
For invoices/receipts that are created by a custom branding theme, change the 'issue date' to 'invoice issue date', and create a separate field for 'payment date'.
This is so that when an invoice is sent in 2021, and payment is made in 2022, the receipt that is automatically generated will clearly show both dates, instead of just the issue date which implies that the receipt was issued in year 2021 when it was actually issued in year 2022.

New Invoicing - Allow us to have Negative quantities on invoice
In the Classic Invoicing, we could set a negative item amount which was useful to make it clear to clients that we had refunded something. It also corrected the stock levels in the inventory. In new Invoicing, you can set a negative financial amount but you are not allowed negative quantities, as such it is not clear and it messes up the stock inventory levels. You can do it via credit notes but this requires more things to be issued to clients etc.

Sales Invoice - Auto allocate Overpayments based on Invoice date
Just an idea that might help a lot of businesses.
We generate a lot of invoices over the span of one month, the feature of bank rules are amazing, but ineffective if the payment is a overpayment.I would like to have a way for Xero to have a Global setting to auto allocate overpayments to the oldest invoice for customers.
Currently overpayments will go to the customer account and just lay there until manually allocated to an invoice.
With bank rules it will automate the process by adding payments as overpayments to the customer account and then auto allocating…
