  1. Ability to see Header rows and side columns on all screens when scrolling

As per Microsoft Office where the top and side ribbons remains static.
e.g. When you're in the Dashboard and scroll down it would be good if the top ribbon is static. It makes it easier to select another item (business; accounting; contact etc) without having to scroll up.

The same with Bill Payments; Invoicing; reports etc where the top ribbon and column headers - see attached - would remain static as you scroll down the list.

The same as when you might have a lot of…

  2. New Invoicing - currently wont allow me to send an invoice (as a reminder for payment) if it is in a locked period. Which i don't understand as it is not affecting the accounts in any way.
It is very time consuming having to download and then email from google, rather than straight from Xero as before.

  3. When using Classic version of invoicing, there was an option to Add a new line and then a drop down option to Add 5, Add 10, Add 20 lines.

In the New version of invoicing, this option seems to have disappeared?

Please provide this option if this has not already been provided. I can only seem to add a new line after entering the first line of information.

I found the Add 5 and Add 10 lines really helpful when I'm copying similar job items down a list than having to tab across to get to the next…

Hi all, we appreciate detail you've shared on the value to you in being able to add multiple lines to an invoice at a time.

As a step toward making this process easier, we've released a new line item grid in invoicing, in which you can now manually add singular rows to your invoice.

Our team are keen to continue monitoring feedback for adding multiple rows at once here, and while we don't have any plans for this at present, I'll update you if there's any news.

  4. There are some new features that I like about the new invoicing, like the ability to immediately a new contact. However this is limited to name and billing address, please add the ability to add email address here too!!!

Other classic features that need to be included so I can use the new invoicing:
    - the ability to delete the Date and Due Date for a draft invoice. I draft invoices for the entire duration of a project once a contract is signed. The dates are not known at this preliminary stage however it is hugely beneficial to…

We’ll send you updates on this idea

Hi everyone, we have now made a change to the Contact card in new invoicing which allows you to enter more contact details from the invoice screen.

You'll find you can both add details for a new contact as well as edit an existing contact. The fields available from the Contact card include Contact name, Email, Billing address, the option to add a Delivery address, and phone number 😊

Cairns, I know there are a couple of other ideas you've mentioned in your initial post here too. While we'll mark this idea as delivered for the primary request you may also like to join these ones below for any updates.

  5. The relocation of ‘edit’ on the drop down feature of options within invoicing.

Reason being, it is far too close to ‘copy’ and on a couple of occasions whilst invoicing I have selected ’edit’ rather than ‘copy’ which has caused some cash flow issues and time explaining to clients where the issue has arisen.

By simply separating them on the drop down would eliminate the accidental selection. Once selecting ‘edit’ or ‘copy’ the only difference is once changes invoice number and the other doesn’t.

  6. I would like to request the Xero add the feature to be able to approve and send customer invoices even when they have reached there credit limit in the new invoicing. Currently this feature is available in the classic invoicing of Xero. Xero are forcing everyone to move to the new invoicing from September 2024.
We use an external software for our customer invoicing and then import these into xero the following day after the sale has occurred and email the invoices to the customer. Moving to new invoicing currently means that for any customer that is over the…

New invoicing has had a bit of improvement and along with separate Item and description fields, you'll see there's an option to show or hide which fields of your invoice lines are shown. 😊

  8. Repeating Invoices - automatic price increase

We have several client contracts which include 5% price increases per annum. It would be great if you could create a repeating invoice and specify a percentage to increase the amount by on its next repeat

  9. On the PDF invoices, Xero automatically CAPITALIZES the entire town/city name, even in my custom invoicing template. It looks unprofessional and I want it to go away. I've avoided this by typing all new addresses on the first line, but I have imported hundreds of contacts into Xero and I don't want to go in and change every single one of them.

We’ll send you updates on this idea

Hi all, in Xero City, State and Country fields appear in capital letters when using a standard invoice template. This is because the US Postal Service (USPS) recommends these fields are in all caps.

Currently you could use an advanced invoice template and replace the merge field <<ContactPostalAddress>> with some or all of the following merge fields to change the way this appears:

    • ContactPostalAddressLines
    • ContactPostalRegion
    • ContactPostalCity
    • ContactPostalCountry
    • ContactPostalPostCode
    • ContactPostalAttentionTo
  10. Allow charities to add an option for customers to make a voluntary donation when paying their invoice.

When making a payment through the pay now link, they would be able to add an additional amount as a donation, if they choose to.

  11. The Classic version of Invoicing used to inform you on the view of an invoice that was created from a Repeating Invoice when the Repeating Template had been deleted.
The new version does not give you this information resulting in confusion and wasted time.
    Please see screen shots below.
This is causing us a major headache as we have lots of Repeating Invoices that have to be cancelled and if a user isn't sure new invoicing doesn't help but allows you to go through the process of trying to delete the template again which results in an error.
    Please fix…

Hi Chris, we appreciate you raising this message with us. It's something our team have added to their backlog but want to be open that we don't have active plans for changing for the time being. We'll continue to monitor the feedback here and I'll share if there is any progress.

  12. On the old invoices/bills I could type "18/2/23" and it would auto fill 18th February 2023. Now I have to scroll back multiple months to get there. It would be good if I could type in the date field boxes again. Specifically on "Add Payment"

We’ll send you updates on this idea

We're pleased to announce that with our latest update you have the ability to directly type dates when making payments on invoices! We know this was a highly requested feature, and we appreciate everyone who voted and shared their input.

For those familiar with our Xero Central article on keyboard shortcuts, you'll be happy to know that all those shortcuts are now fully functional in this date field, as well as all other date fields throughout your invoices.

While a direct dropdown for "yesterday" isn't available, you can quickly enter the previous day's date by typing 't-1'.

As this update delivers the majority of the changes discussed in this idea, we'll now mark it as delivered.

We also heard the feedback from some users who prefer to use a full stop (.) as a date separator instead of the forward slash (/) or hyphen (-). There's a specific idea,

  13. The new invoicing alerts you to a credit on a customer's account if you APPROVE an invoice but if you APPROVE AND ADD ANOTHER invoice it simply moves right on and does not mention the credit. Please could the apply credit option be available regardless of the way you finalise your invoice.

  14. With the old Invoice system, the message will correctly prompt the email address for that contact. If I choose instead, to send the message to another contact email first, I simply clear the prompted address and begin to type the intended address and the full address is usually prompted after typing the 1st 3 letters. Is there a way we can make the NEW INVOICES do this? Surely this can be done in the new Invoice Format..???

  15. Sometimes I need to add the same tracking category to multiple lines of the invoice. CLASSIC invoice allowed me to simply paste the category in the box and that's it. NEW invoicing now requires me to CLICK after pasting which doubles the amount of time I'd need comparing to CLASSIC. Please bring that possibility back - OR, EVEN BETTER, maybe let us drag the options to apply them to cells below (like it's done in Excel).

Hi everyone, we're delighted to announce that the new line item grid is now available to all users. This update incorporates several enhancements based on valuable customer feedback, and includes resolving your suggestion, here.

With the new grid, you can now easily copy & paste tracking information between cells, using 'Tab' to navigate to the next cell efficiently. While the drag-and-drop functionality isn't currently available, this has been raised as a related idea, which you're welcome to support. We'll provide updates on its progress if any arise.

Thank you for your continued input through product ideas – your feedback is invaluable in helping us improve Xero."

  16. In the "New version of Invoicing" disappeared an amazing function - when you open an invoice after it has been approved, it always displays as tax exclusive, even if you entered it as tax inclusive. In the new version if you approved an invoice tax inclusive it ONLY shows it as tax inclusive. Can you please add the feature of seeing both versions of the same invoice.
And another feature that disappeared in the new version is to see account number, not just the name of the account. Can you add it back too? And move it back to…

  17. In the new invoicing version, when selecting the billable expenses, I can't see the date and the supplier in one view. In order to see the date, I need to scroll to the bottom of the pop-up screen, then scroll across to the right, then try to scroll up to find the line item. I then can't see the supplier to know if that is the correct line to add. Sometimes there are 30+ billable expenses for the one client and I can't see the dates to know if I'm selecting the correct ones.

Have the date as the first…

Hi everyone, we appreciate your feedback on the billable expenses window within new invoicing and trouble this can cause for currently assigning billable expenses. Our product team are exploring changes in this and we'll keep you updated of developments for this here.

As noted by some, you can currently scroll horizontally to view each column. If you have lots of items you may need to scroll to the bottom and then horizontally.

  18. Under the old invoicing, when an invoice was emailed to a client for the first time, the email address used for that first invoice automatically populated the Contact card's email address at the time the invoice was sent.
This meant that if the invoice was unpaid, the reminder would be able to go to the same person who received the invoice.
However the new invoicing doesn't automatically populate the Contact's email address.
This means an extra step is needed to ensure the Contact card is updated.
If this step isn't taken, then the automated reminders don't go out.
    Automation…

Hi Jo, interesting one here as some users would like the contact to be update but also others that wouldn't. It'll be good to get a sense of users that would like to see the contact record updated with the email used when sending from your idea here.

No plans to change this behaviour at present but we'll share if there's any news.

  19. In the new invoicing, invoice date, drop down has tomorrow as an option, but in the drop down for due date this is not an option and have to go in to manually select the date which is time consuming this is something we use for most of our invoices.

Hi team, returning to the idea here we're going to shift this to delivered with the existing ability to enter the keyboard shortcut 'T+1' that'll auto select Tomorrows date in the Due Date field.

  20. It's good to see you have extended the period before removing classic invoicing because I still need to revert to classic for certain features that are missing from the new system, namely:

    1. The ability to copy invoices to Bills and PO's - this is an important feature that I use regularly
    2. Send invoices via Xero network - again this is a feature that has been useful especially for invoicing between subsidiaries.
    3. Save and continue feature, I don't like the auto save feature because it continues to update the history and notes while I am still adding details to the invoice…

Appreciate your feedback here, Helen. We already have existing idea that we've added your vote to for the first 3 points you've shared. You'll receive any updates of progress for these separately. I'll just adjust the title for your idea here to reflect your last point around the formatting of a contact name. We'll let you know if there is any change planned for this, here.
