NZ Tax - Add barcode/link to barcode in client tax letters
Following on from advice from IRD. Is this something that is easy enough to create?
See email from IRD.....
We are getting a number of customers to our Front of house (reception) who require a printed barcode to make their payment at Westpac. As you might expect, many of these customers are elderly and it has been some effort for them to go to Westpac only to find they need a barcode to pay so they come to see us… before heading back to Westpac with their printed barcode.
Most have, in the hot little old hands, a lovely letter…

This is something we'd like to continue to track on the site here, however to upfront in order to generate the barcode there's work that'd need to be done on IRD's end to enable this.
We've reached out to engage them on this, but there is no immediate plans from our end, at this time.

XPM - Remove pop-up label when hovering over client name
Since the recent update in Nov/Dec 2025, hovering over a client name on the XPM group screen shows a pop-up label that repeats the client name.
This pop-up does not provide any additional information and often gets in the way while navigating the screen. Removing it would improve usability and reduce unnecessary on-screen clutter.

XPH - Collapsible fields when editing client information
It would be great to bring back the collapsible custom fields in XPM when editing client details. This previously made it much easier to jump between headings. With the new tabbed layout, all custom fields now appear in one long list with no distinction between headings, which means a lot more scrolling to find the fields we need to update.

Your suggestion around having a more detailed business structure breakdown makes sense, especially as broader categories like Other can cover a mix of different client situations.

XPM - Monthly Productivity Pie Chart
Currently the productivity pie chart on the home page only reports on a weekly basis. It would be great if the home page can add a 2nd productivity pie chart which is set to report on a monthly basis. Most accounting firms/staff have monthly productivity targets, so this is why it would be a wonderful way to track MTD productivity results instead of only weekly.

XPM - Sync updated client information via Xero to the ATO Portal
It would be good if we could update client info changes such as change of address or bank account changes directly in Xero that would then update on the ATO Portal. Having used this in another accounting package, it is an extremely efficient process that make sure the client info is updated at both sites. Making these changes directly through the ATO portal gives no (or very little) audit trail.

We've reviewed your suggestion to have client information updated in XPM, such as addresses or bank details, sync directly with the ATO Portal. This idea is now ready to gain support from other community members.

Report Templates - Add GST reports
It would be good if any report you can already run in Xero could be added to a report template - this would include GST reports (activity statement and GST reconciliation), payroll reports etc. That way instead of having to manually extract each of these reports for each client we can just do it in bulk through one report template.

We can see how this would be a real time-saver, especially when you’re building out report packs for clients or internal teams. There’s clearly a strong appetite for this feature, and we understand why. Being able to add GST reports directly into templates would simplify the process of creating complete, consistent report packs for any purpose.

Practice Tools | Clients - Bulk email update of a client
Currently we can update a clients physical/postal address and then update all those relevant in the group using the pop up 'Update relevant client addresses'. It would be so helpful and save time to be able to do this for the EMAIL address of a client.

Practice tools | Staff - Ability to set up and assign permissions to groups of staff
It would be great to be able to set up Security Groups with permissions set for each group, which is then applied to each staff member by adding the Staff to that Security Group.
This way, if a permission needs to be changed for a group of Staff, it can be done at the security group level rather than having to click into each Staff member and edit their individual permissions - which can create inconsistencies and easily miss settings when dealing with a large number of Staff.

Practice Manager | Job Manager - Bulk assign staff via import
Good day,
Would it be possible to allow us to import the staff assignment via the CSV import file rather than assigning staff afterwards. Same for the template, category and job state.
Regarding the bulk staff assignment function, could we add filters and have the columns sort when you click on the column headings of this section please.
These two short comings is creating a huge delay in annual job creation for routine jobs.
No we cannot use re-curing jobs as XPM does not have the functionality yet to choose the date on which the re-curing job is created, you…

Practice manager - XPM to Xero contact fields
Have logged this support query, which I also raised a number of years ago and cannot believe how this has not been fixed. Answer from support below:
In XPM there is no first and last name field for contacts, rather it is just one box for the Name field. While in Xero there are two fields to put a contacts first and last name separately.
So when a contact on a client syncs from XPM into Xero it is placed into the Last Name field as it recognises the name as one field. Currently, the only way to resolve this…

We want to be open that there are no changes planned for syncing contacts from Xero blue into Xero Partner Hub at this stage but we'll continue to keep a close eye on the interest here and share if any plans are made.

Document Packs - Ability to mark as complete
It'd be great if we could have a "Mark as Complete" option for Document Packs. We've got a bunch of Doc Packs that will forever sit in 'sent' because of various reasons and it would be great to clean them up.
Examples of these situations - when a doc pack is sent to multiple people, and maybe one of them dropped into the office to sign the financials in person - we've now got a partly signed document in a Doc Pack, and a physical signature as well. Xero Tax (UK) - Support for custom notes in Financial Statements
When preparing the statutory accounts in Xero Tax it would be great to have the feature to create your own "freeform note". For example, I need to add a secured debts note to the accounts however Xero does not currently provide this note amongst the list, therefore I need a freeform note where I can determine the heading and body of the note to feature in the notes to the financial statements. Currently the workaround is to declare the secured debts note as a line with the creditors which makes the presentation of the accounts weak.

XPH - Update the salutation from the additional contacts
In the old xero version, you could click on the contact and edit the salutation.
This option is no longer available.
The only way to update is to exit client, go back to clients, select contacts, search contact then edit details.

AU Tax | Cover letter - Add Title placeholder
Need a placeholder for title (Mr/Ms etc) for cover letters. It should be an easy implementation, as tax returns should already have that as a label. We need it for the address section of the cover letter.

XPM - Ability to favourite recurring time entries
It would be efficient to have recurring time entries to be saved as a favorite in XPM instead of having to complete all three segments about Client, Job & Task. Especially for daily recurring Internal Time entries such as Non-Billable Time for Meetings, Personal Breaks or Filing Emails etc.

Practice Manager | Report - Client Search
the function to search for clients needs to be easier (similar to the search function) when you are trying to run reports in XPM. It is tiring to go through 3,000 clients on a list to select the one I want to view as the function to run reports only allows me to type the first initial.
It takes us almost 5-6mins to run a simple report21 votes
