  1. To have the option to remove the draft bill feature when lodging your BAS through Xero. At the moment, the system automatically creates the draft bill when lodging your BAS and we are manually going back and deleting the draft bills.
    It would be great to have option to disable this feature

    Hi Ali, thanks for putting this forward. We understand the ask to surface ATO error messages more prominently in the return screen, so users can quickly see what needs attention without needing to navigate through logs or other areas of Tax.

    For now, ATO lodgement error messages can be viewed in the History section of the tax returns, with option to expand the error message for more details. These areas provide the full error details, although we appreciate this may involve additional navigation depending on your workflow.

    To be upfront, we don't have any short term plans to change how this is currently displaying in Xero Tax. However, if this would improve your process, please add your vote and share any specific examples of how you’d expect this to work in your day-to-day filing so we can continue to gauge interest.


  3. Uncoded transaction report only allows you to pick all accounts or a single account in the filters.

    I have a client who has 10 accounts but only half of them are current and non personal accounts. I either have to run the report 5 times or have the report being 13 pages long.

    It would be good if we could select multiple accounts in the filters.

    Hi Victoria, thanks for sharing this idea. We understand that having the ability to select multiple bank accounts when running the Uncoded Statement Lines report could be useful for reviewing specific accounts without including all results.

    The idea is to add a multi-select account filter for the Uncoded Statement Lines report, allowing users to choose specific accounts and create more focused reports for review.

  4. Profit & Loss reporting MUST include before and after tax totals. The before tax number would also exclude non-deductible expenses such as Tax, IRD penalties, non-Deductible Entertainment. I use a custom section called Tax and Non-Deductilbe Expenses to calculate the after tax total.
    This is incredibly important because clients look at the Profit number and think they a doing better than they actually are, especially if the tax expense number has not been generated which 99% of the time they look at this report.     Hi Dave, thanks for bringing this idea to the community. We understand why having net profit after tax displayed directly within Profit and Loss reports could be useful for preparing financial summaries or reviewing overall business performance.

    The idea is to add a dedicated net profit after tax calculation line within the Profit and Loss report, allowing users to see the final after-tax position without needing to make manual adjustments or calculations.

    We encourage the community to vote on this idea if you’d find this reporting improvement useful.


  5. When reviewing quarterly and annual figures from the Profit and Loss report’s account transactions, we currently have to click into each Xero Me app expense to see the description and confirm it’s coded correctly. Expenses entered via bank feeds or bills display descriptions properly in the Account Transactions report, but Xero Me submissions do not.

    This inconsistency makes it difficult to quickly identify and verify transactions without drilling into each one. Competing platforms such as MYOB, QuickBooks, and HandiLedger display expense descriptions consistently, regardless of how the expense was entered.

  6. We have been given a set of financial statements for sole traders and farmers but within the reports, the P&L and Balance sheet are showing the lines under each transaction. We would like the ability to remove these lines as it gives a more professional look.

  7. Can you please add Start Date to the Employee Contact Details
    This will Help when entering payroll leave accruals at the end of the financial year for long service leave. Especially when there are a lot of employees - Save time looking up start dates.

  8. Both the 'Finalised' and 'Filed with IR' boxes are the same colour, and both pieces of text start with 'F'. Twice, I have experienced glitches where I file the return with IR, it appears to have been submitted, but the status simply changes to 'Finalised'. Would it be possible to change the colour of one to a different colour, to help highlight the different states? Or change the text from Finalised to something like 'Approved/Ready to Submit'. I understand this is minor, and partly user-based, but I do think it could be helpful. Thanks!

  9. Contact statement showing payables and receivables outstanding with detail of outstanding items. Currently have to run 2 separate reports where a customer is also a supplier.

  10. Need to be able to exclude non-tax clients from the tax payments report when they are only included because they have a beneficiary schedule in their family trust. Many beneficiaries of trusts are not tax-clients.

  11. Ability to enter search criteria for time entries and then make batch edits to the selected entries. Similar to the find and recode function for accounting transactions. Sometime projects change and/or split into multiple projects. Please add the ability to search for time entries by date, employee, project name, task, etc., and returning a list of the time entries that meet that criteria; select the time entries desired and then make bulk edits to the selected items.

    Hi Roger thanks for sharing your idea, and letting us know the changes that matter most for you. We can see how this idea can be helpful for some users. The best way indeed is to describe it as Find and recode for Projects. We've reviewed this idea and moved it to gaining support. Its upto the community now to get behind it.   12. I've had an issue when filing accounts on Xero tax that I reclassified an asset as a liability, and it would be helpful to have a warning pop up to let us know that Xero automatically reverses them. It caused significant issues not realising this.

  13. Restore function where the previously viewed transaction is highlighted in a darker or different colour so you know where you are on a list of transactions. It used to be there but it has now gone :(

    Thanks for sharing your idea, Diana. We understand that having a way to keep track of reviewed transactions would help when working through large reports.

    The suggestion is to add a visual indicator for previously viewed items, making it easier to remember where you left off and avoid reopening the same transactions.

    For now, opening transactions in separate browser tabs can help keep your place while reviewing multiple items. We’ll continue tracking this idea here so the community can share feedback and use cases.

  14. Currently, if there was a capital gain rollover exemption in previous year, it is not updating into the future year's returns automatically. We have to manually enter the worksheet again and again for all the applicable future years.

    Please develop a feature that it automatically rollover the worksheet to future returns. Then, it will be more coinvent for the uses.

  15. The Find and Recode appears not to include Projects so where one wants to set the Project name in the invoice or bill field based on, say, the Tracking category (This is what we need to do) there is no option other than to go through every invoice and bill and set it manually.

  17. Currently the HMRC Agents Services Account is entered for the whole practice including all offices.
    Many practices have separate offices with separate HMRC ASA.
    Xero requires one ASA for the whole practice which is a nightmare for submitting MTD4IT Returns as the access has to be updated depending on which office is filing!

  18. There are two concerns regarding XERO Blue Report extraction. One is to apply a page break after each ledger when extracting general ledger details while selecting all ledgers. The other is to extract the transaction list by edit period. This will be helpful in identifying differences between the same report taken for two different periods.

    Hi Arunadevi, thanks for sharing this idea. We understand that having cleaner report layouts can make it easier to review and export General Ledger reports.

    The suggestion is to add page breaks after each account when exporting the General Ledger report, so each section is easier to review and present.

    For now, you can export the report to a spreadsheet and adjust the formatting before sharing. We'll continue to track interest and engagement here.

    A separate suggestion was also mentioned around exporting transactions based on edit period. To help each idea get the right visibility, please create a separate idea for that request so it can be tracked individually.


  19. I highly recommend that Xero updates the system to prevent users from saving a tracking category without creating at least one tracking option underneath it first.
    Currently, the system allows you to create a category completely empty. However, because it is empty, Xero automatically locks and grays out all filtering options in the Profit and Loss and Tracking Summary reports. This causes severe confusion, as there is no warning explaining why the reports are blocked.
    Please modify the setup wizard so that adding a tracking option is a mandatory step. This will stop other users from facing this reporting issue…

  20. Currently, Xero Tax allows a trust tax return to be completed and lodged even when a beneficiary's TFN has not been entered, despite the TFN being required in certain beneficiary statements and trust reporting schedules.
    It would be helpful if Xero included a validation check that prevents the trust tax return from being finalised or lodged where a beneficiary TFN is mandatory but has not been entered. This could work in the same way as other critical validation errors that must be resolved before lodgement.
